Haven

Welcome, Hunter, to Haven, the one place in this demon, vampire, lycan, and monster infested city where you can truly be safe and relax. Haven is our headquarters, where we gather information about enemy activity, send out hunting parties, meet, and rest. Some of us even live here. Haven is a two level complex, built from an abandoned and convienently forgotten fallout shelter underneath Hunter's bar and nightclub. The upper level, which can be accessed from a hidden entrance in Hunter's, is the living quarters where we sleep, eat, and relax. The lower level, accessible from an entrance in the sewers, is where we train, work on weapons and equipment, have our medical facilities, and so on. Come on, and I'll show you around.

Upper Level Rooms

Upper Entrance Room and Security Station
These rooms are designed to protect Haven from threats trying to enter through the secret entrance in Hunter's. The entrance room is where Hunters enter into Haven; it is totally enclosed, the floors and walls covered in silver plating, UV lights in the ceiling, the walls being reinforced with cold iron and plastered with spirit wards, and the only way out of the room is through a silver plated four inch thick steel alloy security door which can only be opened from the security station. The upper security station is always manned by two guards who can look into the entrance room through a thick bullet-proof glass security window, are armed with a mounted M-60 light machinegun loaded with silver nitrate bullets and tracers, have an intercom system leading up to Hunter's, and security monitors which show the images from the security cameras upstairs. Even if an enemy got into the security station through the entrance room security door, then they'd have to go through another silver plated steel door to get into Haven. The security station leads to the lobby/lounge and the weapons room. Non-human hunters have to alert the guards to the fact that they're coming down so that the guards can turn off the UV lights and retract enough of the silver plates to make a path to the door for them.

Weapons and Equipment Room
Next to the security station, the weapons and equipment room is where Hunters store most of their personal weapons and gear when not in use. (Hunter etiquette demands that a Hunter have at least one weapon in their room and carry at least one weapon with them at all times in case Haven comes under attack.) There are several long rifle racks, numerous wall mountings for swords and other melee weapons, two large weapon lockers, one ammunition locker, one weapon cleaning supplies locker, and several large shelves and tables for weapons such as pistols and knives to be set upon.

Interrogation Rooms
Set between the Upper Security Room and the Weapons and Equipment Room, the interrogation rooms are a series of about half a dozen small isolation holding cells and two interrogation rooms complete with two way mirrors, security cameras, recording devices, and bright spotlights. It is in these rooms where the Hunters can question and contain any prisoners they capture.

Lounge and Lobby
Situated behind the security station, this is one of the rooms that Hunters pass through on their way from or to the security station and upper entrance room. It is designed to be a recieving area of sorts, welcoming Hunters back home and giving them a place to take a load off of their feet for a while. There is a phone on the wall, a water cooler in the corner, a small tv on a coffee table to the side of the room, a couple of couches, several longe chairs (straight backed padded chairs with arm rests), a few low tables, and potted plants scattered along the sides of the room.

Locker Rooms
To the right of the lounge and lobby are the locker rooms. Divided into a men's and women's side, this is where Hunters change into or out of their hunting gear. There are several long rows of large lockers, benches, and showers.

Laundry Room
Since many Hunters have started living at Haven, a laundry room has been added next to the locker rooms. There are about a dozen washers and dryers including a couple of heavy duty ones, folding tables, and a small tv set.

Exercise Room and Spa
Connected to the lounge/lobby and the locker room is the exercise room and spa, where Hunters work out to keep physically fit and in top shape. There are several exercise bikes, a few treadmills, some weight lifting machines, a rowing machine, a hot tub, and a small steam room.

Meeting Room
Behind the exercise room and spa is the meeting room, where the Hunters gather for briefings and official meetings. There is a long table in the middle surrounded by nearly two dozen chairs, a dry erase marker whiteboard on the wall, and an overhead projector. In the back corner of the meeting room are the stairs which lead to the lower level.

Living Quarters
Nestled in the upper right corner of the first level, this is where Hunters sleep and have their personal quarters. There are currently fourteen personal rooms with beds and dressers, a men's barrack with room for twelve, a women's barrack with room for twelve, and an office with a connected room for the Hunter leader.

Bathrooms
Wedged between the kitchen, mess hall, exercise room, and living quarters, the bathrooms are where Hunters go when... well, when they have to go. There are four bathrooms, two for men and two for women, and each one has at least three toilets and two sinks.

Generator Room
Located by the living quarters, the generator room provides the power used in Haven and Hunter's. It has multiple generators and countless backup systems, and the Hunters resident electrician, Krii'Ouse, is there almost constantly while he's in Haven to keep things running smoothly.

Furnace Room
Next to the generator room, the furnace room is where the furnace and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units are kept and maintained. When a Hunter dies, the furnace room is also used for funerals as their bodies are cremated.

Lower Level Rooms

Lower Entrance Room and Security Station
The entrance into the lower level is a wide sewer pipe. The pipe is lined with cold iron, has a UV laser grid, motion sensors, and an intercom to the security station so that Hunters, especially non-human Hunters, can let the guards know that they're coming in. The entrance has two silver plated removable sewer grates on it, and the entrance room has silver plating, two flamethrowers on either side of the entrance, two high-intensity UV spotlights, walls reinforced with cold iron, and spirit wards on the walls. The security station is manned by three guards with bullet-proof security windows, the motion sensor alarm system, two M-60 machineguns with silver nitrate bullets and tracers, a silver plated four inch thick steel alloy security door leading from the entrance room into the security station, and another door leading from the security station into the lower level of Haven. It was recently destroyed by a Lunite attack, but work crews are currently busy repairing it.

Equipment Room
Near the entrance and security room is the equipment room where training equipment is kept. It is filled with shelves and equipment lockers.

Storage Room
Next to the equipment room, this is where Hunters are allowed to store their personal belongings and affects. It is mostly bare with a few shelves along the sides.

Supply Room
Next to the storage room, this is where the supplies for Haven are kept. It is filled with shelves, boxes, lockers, and cabinets.

Workshop
Next to the supply room, this room is where Hunters can work on their weapons or personal projects. It has two large workbenches, a large tool closet, and several tool chests.

Equipment Shop
Next to the gunsmith and across the hall from the supply room, the equipment shop is where Hunters can purchase very specific and specialized weapons and equipment. It has a glass counter and shelves filled with merchandise.

Training Room
Connected to the security station, equipment room, storage room, equipment shop, armory, medical room, and the lower lobby, the training room is where Hunters practice their hand to hand and melee combat skills. It is a very large room furnished like a dojo, with several punching bags in the corners and training mats along the sides.

Lower Lobby
Next to the medical room, this is a waiting room of sorts as well as a place for Hunters fresh from training to sit down and relax for a minute. There are several chairs, a phone, a water cooler, and some potted plants here. There are also the stairs leading up to the upper level in this room.

Well, you've seen the whole place. Settle in and make yourself at home.

William burst into Haven, Skiaska drooping in his arms. She was losing too much blood and had gotten woozy. The guards threw the security doors open for him and he raced through Haven, running through the lobby, the exercise room, the meeting room, down the stairs to the lower level, and into the medical room. Dr. Gail Hunter, the doctor and medic for the Hunters, looked up from her computer to see Will come in with a bleeding girl in his arms. No words needed to be spoken as she gestured to the operation table and he laid Skiaska on it.

The doctor quickly cut away Skiaska's shirt from the wounded area, and started swabbing at the blood with a piece of alcohol soaked gauze. Turning kind, comforting eyes to the wounded girl, Dr. Hunter smiled reassuringly. "Well young lady, you are quite lucky that we just finished getting haven up and running. We can treat you right here and get you patched up. Now, how did this injury occur?"

Skiaska took a breath, ignoring the slight pain in her lung. "I was walking to my bloody apartment. Apparently, some vampiric scum were a lil' pissed off at a kill I made a few days before. Somethin' 'bout their brethren an' all. To make a long story short, we fought, but one of the buggers got a lucky slice in with a knuckle-claw." She winced and looked to the man who had taken her here.

"Now it's my turn. Who are you, how do you know my name, and why are you helping me? I would've survived and made it back to my apartment in due time..." She stopped when her watch began to beep rapidly. Crap! Her body began to flicker and Skiaska tried to jump off the table, running towards some type of an exit.

The lights of orange flickered under the star and moon light night. The sound of an engine roaring down the streets. The moons pale glow filtering through the city as a lone man on a 1989 black Harley marked Hell's Angels on the gas tank rode down the streets of night time new york. His harley's engine roraring through the night as he made his way to the haven. His long black hair flowing rapidly in the wind, his scarlet eyes watching the road ahead. He took a left before starrting to slow down as hecame up on a bar. Weeks ago he had gotten a letter in the mail that his target was in New York. The mystery man's first objective was to locate the hunters and from a scource it was at this bar. He slowly came to a stop out infront of the orange lit street infront of the door. His right leg slamming the kick stand into place as the sounds of the machines engine died out. The keys jingled softly as he slipped them into his pocket and un-mounted his ride. He walked towards the door, his eyes taking care of the details around. His somewhat bagged denim pants swaying abit around the black military boots. His thick leather outlaw jacket protectng him from the cold night. Slowly his hand took ahold of the door handle and pushed it in. The hard wood's soft creak catching his attention just for a moment. He walked into the old bar, the door closeing behind him. His eyes scanning the place before his words filled the room with a tone of ******** you.

Hey....I'm looking for the leader here......
PostPosted: Fri Jun 10, 2005 3:38 pm

"Hunter" Wilson quickly walked over to the newcomer. "'Ey, lad, we don't go talking about that up here. This is Hunter's, normal people come here too and if you're not careful they might overhear. So ya' be lookin' fer Billy, eh? He's downstairs, in Haven. One of the local Hunters got herself cut up it looks like, an' he took 'er down ta see the doc. C'mon, I'll lead you to Haven's entrance. You'll be able to find him on your own once ya get down there."

Guiding the tall, muscular man to the storage room, Wilson's practiced hands found the hidden latch and the trap door sprung open. Wilson keyed the intercom as he motioned the mystery man to descend the ladder. "Oi, boyos, this is Hunter. New guy just came in, be lookin' to speak to Billy. Ya'll give him directions to the doc's, alright?"

With that Wilson gave the other man a slight push, sending him climbing down the ladder and into Haven.

William lunged at the girl, her image starting to flicker, and grabbed her in a great big bear hug. It was at that point that the image went away completely, revealing a woman with cat ears and a tail as well as black claws. Despite her ever fiercer struggling, Will managed to drag her back into the room, holding her down to a table so that Dr. Hunter could start quickly stitching the wound. She wasn't cooperating and they didn't know if she had any allergies so painkillers weren't an option.

She screamed in pain, her mouth open wide to reveal the feline fangs, and before she could clamp her teeth back down and accidentally bite off her tongue Will stuck his gloved hand in her mouth just as the teeth came down. Bones cracked and blood dripped from his hand but he just grimaced slightly at the pain. It was far better than the girl accidentally killing herself. His voice a low growl due to his own pain, he addressed their unwilling paitent. "Now you listen to me, girl. YOU ARE SAFE HERE, so calm down now! You passed through UV light, silver, cold iron, and spirit wards without a single hiccup, so you're obviously still human, just an altered human of some kind. You're not the first one I've seen. You're obviously a Hunter, and this place is a safe haven for our people. Now relax and let the doc finish fixing you up or you'll bleed to death by making the wound worse. You understand me?"

Seeing her relax, Will nodded to the doctor to continue. Smiling at the girl again, he grinned sheepishly. "Ah, almost forgot, you wanted to know who I am. Guess that you're newer to the city than I am. I'm William "Night Hunter" Jackson, leader of all the Hunters currently in New York City. And like I said before, that makes you my responsibility, so relax. I won't let anything bad happen to ya. That's a promise."

"Alex do this, Alex, do that. Alex, help me get my head out of my a**. God, Mr. McFloyd can't do anything without me. It's pathetic. He's big in the company. He should be able to use a computer, for God sakes!"

Alex continued his muttering as he walked down the dark street. If his information was correct, then the local gathering of people who called themselves 'hunters' should be in a joint called... Hunter's Haven, yeah, that was it. Really, could they have picked a more obvious name? It's a wonder no dark creature from the abyss has found the place.

But of course, they must have it protected. How, who knew? Maybe he'd see what defenses they had once he got there...

Another block down, Alex finally reached Hunter's Haven. The two bouncers glared at him. He was kind of short and wore jeans and a white T-shirt. Didn't seem the type to visit a place like Hunter's.

Entering without any mishaps, Alex proceeded to the wet bar and ordered a Miller Lite. He wasn't too fond of alcoholic drinks, but the job was beginning to drive him to becoming an alcoholic, he just knew it.

Taking small sips of beer (and hating the taste), he waited for someone who seemed like a leader and ask them about the place. He had time. Good think he didn't have work tomorrow.

Skiaska calmed at his words and leaned into the table. She was tired, hurt, and she had no home anymore. What the hell was she going to do? On instinct, she caught the thing tossed to her. Looking at it, she smiled. A gray key with a leather end that had a one on it. Skiaska looked at William and smiled, thanking him with a brush of her tail against his face. She waited for the doctor to finish up, suddenly feeling drowsy. I'll get my stuff tomorrow... At that thoight, she fell into the darkness of sleep.

Will sighed in relief when the girl fell asleep. Dr. Hunter wiped her brow and smiled. "Well Will, put her down over on the examination table over there. Let her sleep, and get over here and let me look at that hand."

After he laid Skiaska down, Dr. Hunter started prodding his injured hand. "Well, the leather and metal plates in your gloves absorbed some of the damage. You have some fractures along the metacarpuls, and the palms been deeply pierced. Hang on and I'll fix it up in a jiffy."

Wounds were cleaned out, bandages applied, and finally she put a cast over the hand. "You'd better stay around Haven and Hunter's for the next few days, until that hand heals Billy."

"Sure thing, Gail."

It was then that the intercom crackled to life. "Billy, this is Hunter. A new fella came in looking for ya and I sent him down to Haven. Another fella also just showed up and looks like he's looking around for somebody as well, probably you."

With a sigh, Will rose to his feet from the examniation table and walked out of the door. In the lobby on the upper level, he ran into the first man that Hunter had mentioned. "Hello, I'm William Jackson, the leader here. Please go through the locker room and down the hall to your right to my office. The door is unlocked, you can wait for me there and when I finish attending to another matter which has arisen I'll get right back to you and we can talk. Now please excuse me."

Going around the tall man he entered the security station, passing through to the entrance room and going up the ladder to Hunter's. Entering the bar and nightclub, he quickly spotted the other man that Wilson had mentioned. Walking up to him, he put his uninjured hand on his shoulder. "Hi, I'm Will Jackson, the boss around here. Come with me down to Haven, and we can talk in my office."

Leading him back to the hidden entrance, they descended into Haven and walked towards Jackson's office, where he'd also be meeting with the first man. Sigh, a leader's work is never done.

Face flushed from the dancing he'd just done with the new Hunter, Lydia, Will walked into his office, nodding to the two men sitting down in the chairs in front of his desk. "Sorry to keep you waiting, gentlemen. Let's get down to business."

Sitting down behind his desk, he leaned forward in his chair, showing them his interest in what they had to say. "Now, I'm William "Night Hunter" Jackson, the leader of the Hunters in New York City. I can only assume that the two of you are either new in town or new to the Hunters. So, what are your names? I'd like to get to know my new people."

Skiaska twisted around in her sleep, whimpering. Suddenly, she sat up with a loud but short cry, sweat running down her face. She threw glances around her as if in fear, but slowly calmed down. "Damn. Just another dream..." She recalled the dream that was actually a memory and shuddered. That littel problem with the doc probably brought it on. She swung over and blushed when her stomach howled for food. Skiaska then began to walk to were she believed she might get some food and possibly a beer.
