A Keiko Yukimura thread for both fans and bashers.
The reason I'm letting bashers in is because to some extent, I can understand their views exactly. And honestly, I can admit that I too sometimes think Keiko is over the top with her overprotectiveness. But if you decide to post "Keiko is a nagging b****" and decide to tear down her reputation bit by bit...do that somewhere else.
But for Keiko bashers, please read this: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3010552/1/. And when you're done, I hope it's erased at least a tiny, tiny shred of your hate. (Yes, it's written by me; hit me over the head for the shameless plug.)

Keiko nags because thats the only way to deal with Yusuke lol. I think Boton or someone said that at one point...
She's tough and under alot of pressure all the time because she's so worried about Yusuke. For the majority of the anime, Yusuke will come to her rescue but he never really gives her any time. Especially not complaint-free time lol.
I do really like her and I was happy for her at the ending.

Keiko is okay, I don't really dislike her or like her all that much. Although I think most of the bashers are hyperactive yaoi girls who wnat Yusuke all to themselves to play with, but I can say that cause I'm a yaoi girl too. (But for Kurama) She's actually who I think is quite good for Yusuke, she knows how to keep him in check. biggrin

I don't hate her, but I don't like her either. She's is certainly not the best girl character the series could've come up with, and she gets on my nerves, but I don't believe she is as hate-worthy as other anime girls.

i thought she was somewhat realistic...she freaked out and went catatonic at the tournament...she gets all teary eyed when she thinks her beloved is going to die (even if he's not her beloved, he's at least someone she's known since she was 5!), and she's overprotective in a....more 'i don't want you hurt' way. i think she does fine as a character....i just don't like her all that well because me likey the short and spikey! blaugh xd xd

I think Keiko is one of the most 'real' characters in the series. I'd go more in-depth, but I covered this in some other thread and I'm feeling lazy. I like her, though. Cursed be the one who calls her unworthy of Yusuke.

I really like Keiko...shes really strong (she would need to be to put up with Yusuke's crud!! xD) and shes a reliable friend. I was so happy when her and Yusuke finally got together!! heart

I can understand Keiko. She has to deal with his huge love for Yusuke, (which is completely understanable. I even love him) who is always missing, and throwing his life down the drain. She can't help but get frustrated. It's always hard to watch someone you care about not be happy.
Then, she sees him being happy with his fighting. She even accepts that it's his place.
This is where I start to dislike her.
She can accept it, but she has to be a pain about it. The finale was annoying as hell. Her yelling about waiting for him. She knew it was his place. She said it. She should've tested other people, incase he didn't come back. Why put yourself through something, if you aren't sure about the other person? He might've come back. She could've easily gotten with him then, since she's only like 15. Making it simple to dump a silly boyfriend that she might have had.
Also, she likes to love on him, and kiss him while he's unconcious. But if he pays any attention to her, shows any attraction, she must always get pissy, and hit him.
It's a compliment Keiko. Yes, a little perverted. But at least he likes you back.
I personally don't see that relationship as a marriage, or even including sex.
I'm reminded of best friends, or brother and sister when watching them. Actually, if you combine the two, you've hit them.
*shrugs* Keiko annoys me. But she isn't one that I hope dies. I just kind of wish she'd fade out or something. The show went on fine when Yusuke didn't even give her a thought.
I actually liked it better without her.
But if she must be there, so be it. Still don't see the pairing going very far past the last episode.

True...I suppose Keiko and Yusuke aren't really able to express their feelings openly towards each other.
However, like you said, Keiko understands that fighting is Yusuke's place. But Yusuke knows that fighting constantly in life is not a permanent place to be in, and so he promises Keiko he'll come back. So that's why she waited for him for three entire years--because he promised her, not because she was just waiting for him to get his fighting over with. After all, no one fights forever, y'know?

I don't mind Keiko, but she's not on my top favourites list either. I think she's a pretty cute character though and she has her reasons/role to play. One thing I do hate though is the English VA they gave her, but thats not Keiko's fault xD

There was something about her, that just annoyed me to no end. While she was infact realistic about the way she bugged Yusuke-which is understandable-but there was something there that bugged me the whole time about her. She had this want-to-be tough thing going, and then would turn right around and whine about something. That got a little old. And she seems to have a know it all attitude.
However, there are alot worse characters out there in other animes, I will giver her that benefit.
Also, another thing about Keiko...just a random thing that has been bugging me/insupport of part of the afformentioned attitude: Anyone recall the episode in school where she was talking to her friend?
Friend: I heard he'd whistle and call on a whole army to back him up!
Keiko: -waves it off.- Yusuke doesn't even know how to whistle, let alone call on an army!
--three scenes later--
Yusuke: -walks down the street whistling-
