**Note: This thread is not meant to be taken seriously.
The setting is a cheap apartment complex on a lower-class street in New York. It's not Avenue B--it's Avenue Q. The characters are introduced in a song about their miserable lives of poverty, bad jobs, lack of love and generally unfulfilled dreams.
Princeton is trying to make his mark in the world and find his purpose. Kate likes him-likes him, but Princeton sends her mixed signals. He asks her on a date, but is afraid to commit, so they have a rocky on-and-off-ish relationship. (Mimi and Roger)
Meanwhile, Rod's in unrequited love with someone of a conflicting sexual orientation. (Mark and Maureen)
The play ends with the message that nothing is permenant and everything in life is only temporary--in other words, that there's no day but today.

You do know that (sorry, I don't know the name/names of the writers) when they wrote Ave. Q, the idea was (in a roundabout way) to make a parody of Rent, right?
Of course, maybe I shouldn't be trying to sound like I know stuff... because I've never seen Ave. Q. Just heard a few of the songs and read a vague description about it, where I got the above info. XD Hahha, so don't listen to me, actually. sweatdrop
((This is my weekly rent payment to the guild. I have nothing much to say, so I'm just wasting time. ^_^))

PussyGaloreInPerson I've heard Avenue Q described as "Sesame Street meets RENT." 3nodding ... which is one of the reasons i love it. I grew up on Sesame Street (no pun intended), and I love RENT.

I love it too, but for that reason and because it's just funny. Sure some of the jokes get old and the shock value wears off. I still think it's a good, genuine musical.

Yeah. I think The Producers would be easy, but Assassins is the odd one out.

RoyKatsuragi Yeah. I think The Producers would be easy, but Assassins is the odd one out. Ooooh. Haha. Sorry, I totally misread that and thought you had written that Avenue Q was like a crossover of RENT, Assassins, and The Producers...needless to say I got very confused.

. TWM . Could someone please enlighten me onto what "Avenue Q" is? Enlightenment: http://www.avenueqthemusical.co.uk/the-show/video-clips.php Avenue Q is a musical, now playing in New York and London (soon to open in Finland), which opened on Broadway in 2003, a severe underdog in revenue, and went on to win the the 2004 Tonys for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book. A parody of Sesame Street, muppets, and life in general, Avenue Q follows a recent college graduate, Princeton, as he moves onto Avenue Q and searches for his purpose in life, and the relationship between characters on the avenue. The songs take truths of life that we general repress and use that to create strong comedy, as well as a heart for the musical. Songs include, "It Sucks to Be Me," "The Internet is For For," "If You Were Gay," "Purpose," "For Now," etc. And that description is really terrible. But...I tried.
