Warm sunlight trickled through the forest canopy, creating columns of light that cast oddly dappled shadows on the surrounding trees and leafy ground. Looking around, it would be quite easy for one to become transfixed by the oddly ethereal quality of the deep woods at midday...
Or they could simply ignore it.
Doing exactly that, Zaphiro stood, quietly oblivous to the beauty of the forest, beside a rushing stream; half of his body bathed in light, sparkling in the sunshine, and the other half shrouded in the gloom of the trees. Had he been the type to think about such things, he might have been awed at how his shiny coat glittered in the light...but it was obvious from the somewhat introspective expression on his face that such things were far from his mind. He stared into the water as though mesmerized, oblvious to everything going on around him.

The ebony mare trotted out from a part of the dense forrest, slightly brushing the side of the azure soquili. Her eyes widend in apologies, "So sorry," the smaller mare stated as she went to get a drink of this water he seemed to be looking at ever so intently.
Her emerald orbs were absobed in it to, until she arched her neck to drink from the pool to heal her parched throat. She looked up to the male again, she had never seen him before she thought she should introduce herself, "Hello," she said in her innocent like tone. "I am Cynara." She smiled sweetly as she went backto the pool for another drink.

Oblivious or not, it was hard for Zaph to remain such after being run into...or brushed into, or anything similarly noticeable. Snapping out of his daze, for a moment all that he did was blink, trying to figure out what was going on.
However, he was pretty good at recoveries. "Oh, no need to apologize; it was my fault for standing here like a lump." Smiling depreciatingly, he inclined his head at the mare before lowering his own head to take a drink. That was why he was at the water's side, after all...and he wasn't really sure what had stalle him. One of those random thoughts, apparently.
Cynara's introduction caught him just as he was swallowing, so he neatly finished and raised his head to acknowledge the introduction. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Cynara; I'm Zaphiro." Inclining his head again courteously, he nevertheless gave the mare a curious look; he wasn't used to random introductions at the waterside. Did she always introduce herself to strangers, or what?

She looked to him curiously as he was giving her a seemingly odd look and he didn't look as if he wanted to talk...or just dumbfounded at her introduction which started to make her wonder.
Her charcoal dipped tail flickered, slightly...it was November thank heavens for there were no more flies to bite her soft skin and it was quite delightful so she didn't need to swat at them for a few moments. Her emerald orbs looked to his again, "Pleasure," she replied to him again with a child like innocence.
"What?" she asked with a soft meliodous chuckle, she was noting his curious look and she could see through him, the wheels were turning in his head...probably asking questions but who knows could be just analyzing her.

Apparently one odd look could lead to another, thus creating a chain that could go on until who knows when. Consequently, at both Cynara's curious look and her question Zaphiro realized that he himself had to be doing something odd; therefore he schooled his expression into one of his usual mildness, albeit mildness tinted by sheepishness.
"Er, my apoligies, Cynara; it's just that I'm not used to having company out here, and usually when I do see other Soquilis they tend to be rather solitary. Having you come up and start talking just threw me for a loop, that's all. Not that it's unpleasant or unwated, of course." Not wanting to make her think he was upset, he hastened to clarify; instead, he might have sounded overzealous. Man, it had been a bit since he'd met someone new...

Her eyes widened slightly at his explanation and then turned into a sheepish smile. "Oh...well, its alright. I tend to be friendly. Father says I shouldn't be as so all the time, says it could get me into trouble." he watched him, and just he had clarified she had started, "He loves me, and all for who I am he just wants the best for me." she nodded, not wanting him to think her father was some comanding, aggrivating nazi who was trying to change his daughter's personality...just a little over protective perhaps for his youngest daughter.

Blinking a bit, Zaphiro listened and tried to digest the mini-rant that Cynara had suddenly gone off on, though he'd be the first to admit that he was lost. Certainly it was out of the ordinary a stranger to go into detail about their personal life! However, if that was the sort of thing that she did on a regular basis, who was he to judge?
However he felt about the sudden burst of information, Zaphiro was able to glean at least a little bit of direction from Cynara; it was rather apparent that she was expecting some sort of reply. But of what sort? Obviously a stab in the dark was warranted... "Well, I can see your father's point in worrying about excessive friendliness, given what sort of Soquilis one has the potential of running into when out in the wild. Then again, if we always assumed the worst of everyone, what sort of chance would we have for creating relationships?"

She nodded, "Absolutly," she replied agreeing. "However, I never said to assume the worst in everyone. Just be cautious, I suppose is what I mean." Her tail flickered, as she looked to him his facial expression. "I'm sorry." she said softly. "Did I do something wrong?" her head tilted to the side a tad. She was veering from the conversation started to something else...she had the tendancy to do that at times as well. She was still a child at heart.

Raising an eyebrow, Zaphiro found himself actually breaking into a low chuckle; this mare was so oddly childlike that he really couldn't help himself! Honestly, he suddenly could appreciate where her father was coming from in worrying about her a little bit...but sometimes, the childlike ones could be the most capable and therefore it would be bad to underestimate any of them.
At her query, though, he firmly shook his head. "No, you didn't say anything wrong; I was merely generalizing a bit more than I ought to have, I suppose. Being cautious is something that everyone should strive to be, especially when they are loners or by themselves frequently; you know, just for safety's sake." And safety was something that one could never take to seriously, thank you very much. Especially not when you were a mare on your own in the wild.

Cynara looked to Zaphiro, “Wise advice,” she smiled gently when he laughed it was rather soothing…soothing? What was she thinking…she blushed at a thought that ran through her mind in a split second. Her innocence is what made her father worry so much but she didn’t mind she was s toughie when it came down to it, she had had her heart broken by a stallion. She hadn’t told anyone about it however, yet her father had found out and well took care of him for the time being. She not only had him on her side, but her uncle Zephy and her brother Moki, she shrugged at the thought she was supposed to be conversing with Zaphiro wasn’t she. “So what brings you out here?” she asked curiously she didn’t want it to end their, she hadn’t carried a conversation in awhile with any new soquilis and was always in a mood to meet others. She hoped that he was uncomfortable or bothered by it other wise she would probably leave him to his peace.

At Cynara's 'wise advice' comment, Zaphiro found himself chuckling once again; the phrase had the potential to be a sarcastic remark, but given the smile on her face as she said it he had the distinct impression that that was far from the case. Consequently, it was with a smile of his own that he inclined his head in acceptance of her compliment. "Well, I certainly try hard; it's nice to know that at least someone is benefitting from what I think. In some small fashion, at least."
Raising his head, the shimmering stallion tossed his mane back, tucking back a few stray curls with a raised foreleg as he looked at Cynara. She was certainly a friendly mare, and a pleasant one at that. It was nice to be able to carry on a conversation without having to get defensive, and she had a lightheartedness about her that was very appealing. Yes, sometimes random encounters did work out for the best.
Considering her question as to his presence for a moment, he soon answered with a slight shrug of his shoulders. "Well, to be honest there really is no reason; I just enjoy being out in the woods, I guess. It's very peaceful, and things seem to move at a much more leisurely pace. And you yourself?"

She laughed this time a sweet tone, her eyes gazing to him. “I’d hate to see it go to waste,” she replied. His voice seemed soothing to her, like…she wouldn’t think of him now. She wanted to enjoy the conversation she was having now with this sapphire beauty. Did she just think beauty, god she was digging herself a hole already. She smiled when he smiled and when he had laughed she had laughed, he was contagious she jut had to fess up to it, she smiled inwardly at the thought.
She watched him toss his mane effortlessly and it was captivating, she needed to stop swooning over him at the moment she was acting like a foal with a crush and she was far from it. She was a tough girl who’d already been around the full circle, but he had an elegancy and nobility almost chivalry that captivated her, she could just sense it and she knew her father would no where near object so far. Then again she still didn’t know him personally. But time was sure flying.
She nodded in agreement, “I just take random walks, I suppose.” She smiled slightly. “Just to kind of escape, some of the stresses…” she looked to him, “I usually walk and go to the lake or rivers when I can. I find the waters calming, Father always took us to the lakes as foals.” She smiled back on the fond memories of herself Moki and Maeve.

Had Zaphiro known that he had a contagious smile or laugh, he would undoubtably have been both amused and a little embarrassed. After all, it wasn't like he considered himself to be that type of personality, the type that was exceptionally magnetic or 'follow the leader' ish. As it was, he merely thought that Cynara was in an exceptionally good mood...which might indeed have been true regardless!
Looking away from the dark-hued mare for a moment, he found himself staring back down at the water...taking him back in a full circle to where he'd been earlier. Why had he been staring so intently into the stream, anyway? It wasn't like there was anything to really see in the water, and it was moving too fast to really see his reflection...strange. Certainly he wasn't missing anything by abandoning the staring, at any rate.
Shaking his head a bit at the ridiculousness of his own lack of direction, Zaphiro turned his gaze back to Cynara, his golden eyes mild as he listened to her talk. She had a pleasant voice, this mare; not a shrieky or scratchy one, but one that was soothing, mellow; sort of like her coat, in that it didn't leap out and make itself obvious and instead hung back, refined and subtle.
Ok, what on earth did that mean? His thoughts were obviously wandering again, that he was paying attention to detail over words! But in spite of his attention to the way that she spoke, he still heard her words. "Well, there's nothing quite like the sound of running water to soothe the mind; and I have to admit that there are fewer things in existance that can relax a restless mind. And in the spirit of walks..." Pausing, he looked around at the trees, noting the way that the beams of light created pools of warmth on the ground. Truly, it was a picturesque scene.
"Would you care to join me for a walk? Standing around is enjoyable, I'll admit, but my legs are starting to get a bit stiff." He had been standing in one place for far too long, after all. Perhaps she was feeling the same way?

The female had found herself gazing at his coat…so blue and the golden spirals around his legs, the gold on the tip of his curled mane and edging his wings baffled her. She hadn’t seen one so…handsome well Arro but he was lighter and had a lighter blue...Zaphiro was more, well mystifying to her. His eyes the color of Micah’s but his were softer and more gentle. Less intense one could say.
She watched as his gaze left hers to the water again, he seemed to be deep in thought and she wouldn’t disrupt him. He seemed to be paying attention to what she was saying so she wouldn’t make note of it. She spoke in soft tones at the moment she didn’t know why they grew softer they just did. Some what uncontrollable. She ended her parade and he spoke, nodding her head in agreement at his comment of the waters and walks. She looked around them…it was rather romantic. She wasn’t going to lie it was romantic to her. Now only if a light snow started up, she thought sarcastically. She was pulled out of her slight day dream as he asked a direct question,
She smiled softly, “I’d love to join you for a walk Zaphiro.” She huffed looking to her shorter legs…he was taller as usual. Why is she always the short one…she was the smallest born. Her ears perked forward again, “I’m tiring as well..” she huffed quietly. “A stretch sound good.” Her emerald orbs glanced to him waiting for him to take the lead.
[[Feels like throwing Cyrus in there. XD That would be funny…but I wont…yet. XD]]

((As long as he wouldn't be all 'what are your intentions' *snickers* Poor Zaph))
"In that case, let us walk." Inclining his head at Cynara with a soft smile, Zaphiro gestured with a wing for her to accompany him as he started off down the leaf-strewn path. She was a pleasant thing, Cynara; ladylike and not all in your face. At the same time, though, she wasn't one of those that withdrew into herself, staring down at the ground and not talking lest she come to his notice. He'd never been good with that type...
Oh well, Cynara wasn't that type. Or if she was, she hid it well.
As he crunched his way through the leaves, he found himself looking over at her once again, comparing her glossy black coat to the brighter, more dramatic coats out there; coats like his own. He'd never been fond of the way he looked; shimmers and sparkles always seemed so gaudy to him, particularly on a male; throw in his golden accents and feathers, and you had the ultimate crown jewel in bad taste. He'd always wanted to be a 'natural' stallion; black, or brown, or white would have been much better than blue!
But if wishes were horses... Chuckling to himself, he dismissed his little fantasy. Short of submerging himself in ink, he would be blue and gold to the day he died. But a stallion could fantasize, couldn't he?
As they walked, he thought about how small Cynara seemed next to him; even smaller than the other mares he'd met. It gave her an almost elfin quality, like one who would dance carefree in the light of the moon
So wrapped up in his thinkings was he that he didn't even realize he'd lapsed once again into silence, his eyes the only sign he was paying attention.
