Well I've been wanting to try my hand at modifying, so I bought a Dollzone Ying head (I also seen him called Shadow). He's got a sort of yaoi manga kinda jive going on that I like, but his lips are not my favorite thing. I want to try sanding down his beak of an upper lip and maybe turn the ends of his lips up to give him a grin. I'm also considering sanding down his chin a bit and epoxy sculpting on some pointy ears.
Also, this is just speculation, but I think I might be getting the Volks Baron doll for Christmas.
[overly long and detailed account of how I came to this conclusion] Some time last week or so I noticed he was in stock on the Volks International site. I wanted to buy him as soon as a few things of mine sold, and I was discussing this with my parents. A day or two later my mom asks me to show her the URL for the website because, "A friend at work (who collects dolls) wanted to know what he looked like." That night she comes home saying, "We got lost on that website." When I enquired further, she said, "Well she tried to order something, but they make it difficult." Mmmmmkay.... Well I tried to flush any details about her friend, and she, to her credit, wove a rather elaborate story. One flaw though, she never refers to her by name, which she does with all her friends at work. She also turned down my offers to help her "friend" with getting into the BJD hobby. Now a few days later I notice the Baron is out of stock again and I announce this in the presence of my parents and My dad gave my mother a rather pointed look whilst giving me half hearted sympathy. Now all my suspicion bells are going off, and I don't like suspense much, so, being the horrible devious person that I am, I sneak and read my mother's email. Sure enough there is an order confirmation for the rough price of the Baron plus shipping twisted So I'm pretty sure that's what I'll find under the tree. Thanks.
My parents are pretty ambivalent toward the dolls. I think if it had been any other doll but the Baron they wouldn't have even considered it. But my dad loves Studio Ghibli films almost as much as I do (Miyazaki is my animation hero), and the fact that there was a Baron doll got him interested in a way I had not previously believed possible. It was actually kind of cute in a way.

wink Maybe you should have kept it a surprise despite curiousity Phishy. Now you're gonna have to work extra hard to act really surprised when you do find it. xd

Nah, I'm not to worried about it. The anticipation of having something usually builds up a lot of excitement about actually having it that reads as surprise fairly nicely. mrgreen
Anyway the Ying head is here. Pictures of him are in the gallery.
