Those aren't any stereotypes I've heard (in the US). In fact, I'm not sure I have heard any, really ... you Polish folks ( wink ) make a good sausage, but I can do without all the cabbage (sorry Bipper!). Otherwise, there are some jokes (insert-heritage/race/gender/whatever-here type things), but who *isn't* subjected to that?

The only jokes I've ever heard about Poles are in regards to them being foolish/dumb. Is there a particular reason you're asking? Are any Americal kids around here being jerks? Us Wickeds will be all over tehm like purkle on a couch!

I have to agree with the other posts here. I haven't heard anything except the jokes here and there which I ignore.

I'm sure I've heard the same jokes as the rest of you...of course that was in grade school. I've lived in an area heavy with Polish immigrants, my mom's second husband was third generation Polish-American (he was an a**, but that's another story and had nothing to do with his Polish heritage). Anyway, from my experiences, I never noticed anything different besides cultural stuff. Oh, yes, the food is wonderful. Although, I'm still not a big fan of cabbage. razz

They make them for "Fat Tuesday" and the entire Detroit area goes nuts for them. They are EVERYWHERE on that day (and a few days before)

Hmm . . by boyfriend is a 3rd generation American from Poland.
and my dean is from Poland -
only stereotype I usually come across from Polish is that they are stupid - which I have found repeatedly to be not true.
My personal experience has been interesting - it seems that Polish people are very hard working (almost over work) and need to be always busy. I have also found more traditional ideas of gender roles as far has hair length for women, dress, and who should cook.
oh - and there seems to be an obsession with coleslaw (at least there is for my not-father in law)

@Bipper - yes xD now i know what u talk about lol
@Saasgn - heh.. they probably work hard because they want all the money they can get , to feed their family.. here we dont earn much.. and the prices are high emo
as for the traditional ideas of gender roles - only old people living villages (as in the ones who spend their lives living in comunism) have that idea.. xd

Kim Dzong @Brevelan - i suppose that we are ignorant and foolish, as a nation , sad but TRUE. especially nowadays emo .... Hey Babe in all reality.... I believe the US to be the most ignorant nation in the world.... Look at us... We believe that for people to have the right to trade with us they should have the privilage of learning our language cause it is doubtful that anyone of us will lower ourselves to the level of speaking the language native to the country we trade with... We seldomly relate to any kind of hardship outside our own pathetic little country... Then when 9-11 happened everyone jumped off of their a** (pardon my language) and was like "oh help us we're in danger" it is no wonder our strongest allies turned there back on us... The presidents here have been gloating about us "being a world power" which I suppose in ome aspects we are.... But we cannot control crime and famine and poverty in our country.... And I don't mean to offend other Americans.... But whether you realize that those thing plegue our country or not, or whether you struggle with those aspects on a daily basis or not... They are there!!! They are pleguing us.... Why the hell are we sending our troops to their death.... We aren't ready for war... We haven't been for neigh on 100 years.... What the hell are we doing? Ok sorry got a bit of a rant going there!
