In the outer reaches of the populated Barton area lies a land that time seems to have forgotten; A place where few dwell and even fewer visit. The sounds that fills your ears are few and often far in between; those of the gentle wind blowing through the now autumn leaves along with a peaceful silence.

If one should follow the river through the lush forest, past the creek filled with vegetation and wildlife, one would be met by a wide expanse of land, a plain covered in emerald green grasses, plateaus clearly visible on the horizon upon the backdrop of a sky that shines of a radiant azure at day, and a clear onyx at night.


The air is often clear here. Equine-like creatures roam the plains wild and untamed, grazing upon the plentiful grass that rustles in the calm winds that pass through the land as large birds soar above often taking their nests in the various nook and crannies of the plateaus in the distance.

A true treasure in a world where technology advances quickly and nature is oft-forgotten.

Merdok hits the top of the hill where he first gazed upon the very clean city of Barton. He turns the gas off of his quad and pulls a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket. He opens the box and pulls out a cigarette, putting it inbetween his lips. Reaching down for the lighter, he coughs and the cigarette falls out of his mouth. In what seemed to be a slow-motion movie, he watched the cigarette plummit to the grass. It was silent for a few moments.

Weird.

He reaches down and picks up the cigarette, whiping off anything that could have attatched to the cig while it was on the grass. The lighter flicked a few times before it was a stable flame. He places the lighter under the tip of the cigarette, and lights it. He smiles as he breathes out a puff of smoke. As he watches, the smoke travels slowly towards the forest where what he thought the military installation was. After thinking for a few seconds, Mer realises that this Carm` Skarwiggler could be hiding out there, as well as his need to learn names better. He does not hesitate, and jumps back on the quad. He leaps off the hill, bound for the forest.

As Migy and Kelwyn walked through the highlands, Migy listened to sounds in the forest. It was quiet for a forest. The wind going through the tree's and the river flowing where the only really sounds they could hear aside from their own footsteps. Despite that, it seemed rather serene and alluring. Possibly even worth living in. "This place seems rather quiet for a forest. I kind of like this place..." he said half to himself, half to Kelwyn.

"Further down the road? Why aren't there any around here? It seems like we're pretty far in." Catching something on the wind he angles his head up slightly sniffing, "hmm...it smells like theres a bush up a head with berries on it. They're almost ripe to."

"You really think this is to close to civilization? I've seen places where the animals live closer. Anyway, finding the berries shouldn't much of a challenge when the scent is this strong." Taking a deep breath he closed his eyes. He could tell the scent was getting stronger. "They shouldn't be too much further up, and probably a little ways off the road as well."

"Well, my first guess would be rassberries, but I'm also thinking more blackberries. Well, they're not that different from each other really. Hmm...if there are enough I may take some to make fruit rolls out of. Oh well, we'll see what happens." He led on further up the path noticing it was getting close to noon. "Hmm, seems time just drifts away."

"As old as you are huh? You look as though you're naught but 18. Well, it doesn't really matter how old you are really. Though we did spend a lot of time lounging about the lake." Walking off the path a ways they came across a blackberry bush about 100 yards off the path. "Guess it was blackberry then."

"Really? And here I am somewhere around 33 seasons or so. Well then I guess I don't have to worry about you too much. Should I assume the people of your village have such extended lives as well?" He pulled out a leather bag and started filling it with berries before eating any.
