[Hello to anyone who enters. This is an open role play, under the condition that you pm Yayoi or myself, first, before you post. Please. ^-^]

Change happens all around us. We can't stop it, we can't predict it, and we can't go back. Change can be golden, and it can be dark. Then there are the tiny changes that just go unnoticed by most. This is a story that will delve into the biggest change in one certain soquili's life, and how it might change the lives of those around him. Uncertainty unfolds and winds all around..

Darkness shrouded everything, in an empty blanket of nothingness. As life ebbed at the edge of his mind, his eyes flickered in an attempt to open. As they did, pain became apparant. His eyes remained shut, he didn't want to go where the hurting was. Something felt wrong though, he couldn't stay here. He didn't know why, but he knew he had to go where the pain was. He opened his eyes.

Nearby, a flock of white birds rose from the trees, as if death was right behind them. The shrill cry of the stallion had caused them to take flight. Surely everyone under the stars had heard.

His vision was stained, and he couldn't make out much under the pain. He had cried out in the instant that he opened his eyes, for now he could feel all of the pain. He tried to focus, and figure out where the sharp pain was coming from. He became aware that he was on the ground, and was laying on something. He lifted his head and revealed a blunt rock, soaked in red. He watched as the red swirled into blue. He was laying in a river bed, this he could finally see. He was shivering under the night, cold and wet. He didn't know what was going on, confussion flooded his mind. He obviously had fallen and hit this rock. He searched around him for answers yet couldn't remember a thing..

How long had he been out? He struggled to make his way to his feet. His legs were stiff and lifeless. Faint displeasure bubbled in his voice as he forced his limbs to cooperate. In a shuffle of movement, he got to his feet and out of the water. Everthing went white, and he almost shut his eyes, but he used all his strength to stay awake. He just needed to move around a bit, get the blood flowing. He stamped his feet a couple of times and then went back to collecting thoughts. His eyes glazed over as he searced his mind.. nothing was found. It hurt the more he tried to remember anything, something, someone.. His shoulders slunked as he lowered his head towards his feet. He noticed his blood stained reflection.

Here was the image of what once was a handsome black and white soquli. Now, there was a gash on the right side of his head, and blood stained his once white face. His hair was riddled with leaves and his eyes were the eyes of a thousand sleepless nights. Angered at his image, he splashed one hoove at the stallion staring back. As he did, the image vanished, and a small bright colored ribbon could be seen in the sands beneath the water. An open look of shock filled his expression. He couldn't remember where the ribbon had come from, but knew that he wanted to. Maybe it wasn't even his. He dipped his muzzle into the water, and grasped the ribbon between his teeth. He then kept his mouth open under the water, and let the current wash the dirt from it's threads. He raised his head and then tucked it out of sight, under his mane.

Nothing would come of him just standing here, but he didn't want to be seen in his current state. He looked up both sides of the river. A river runs into a lake, right? He could wash up there. Which way was the lake though? He watched to see where the small stream was flowing and began to follow it slowly. Energy was scarce, and he should have looked for food before a wash. Perhaps he'd get lucky, and find a morsel on the way.

So here you have a lone soquili who has had a most unfortunate accident. He has lost his memory, and is left in a most vunerable state. Who is he? Where has he come from? Only time will tell.

Chu'mana had been worried. Really worried. Hok'ee had been missing for quite some time and she wasn't exactly sure or the reason why. Firefly had told her not to worry, that he was probably just out searching for himself. As supposidly some Soquili did. But she wasn't all that sure if that was a fact. She had actually...a small, wrenching feeling in the bottom of her stomach for a while. A most unpleasant feeling really, and it made her scared.

Dureing the night, she had slipped away from Atsila's teepee where she normally stayed and wandered down to the lake that was not too far away. The moonlight made her dark coat shine and the silver streaks in her hair almost glow.

Her bright green eyes scanned the area of the lake, to see if anyone or thing was about. Word of these Skinwalker things had spread far and wide, and it scared her to death to be out in the dark by herself. But her throat was dry and she needed to cure her thirst. Seeing that no one was about, she trotted slowly down to the edge of the lake and lowered her head slowly to take a long drink.

Time seemed to fade as he walked along. He knew not how long he had been walking, and stumbled right into the mouth of the lake without notice. He shoke his head and looked down with a huff of air. He was so tired. He fell to his front knees with a splash and moaned as his back feet followed. The cold bite of the water woke him just a bit. He wanted to bathe, and then get back to land. He turned his head to the side and let his hair fall into the pool. The wound bled into the water in an almost asthetic way. Amazing how something so horrible as blood, could blend so beautifully in water. He stared off into the distant side, and straight through the mare standing on the shore. He waved his head slightly to and fro as his hair rippled around. The water felt good, but no way was it enough to wash away the debris nor the wound. Only time would heal that.

Her ears flicked lightly as she heard the sound of splashing water, but she payed it no mind. Her throat was too dry for her to stop drinking at the moment. But once she had finished, she lifted her head and flicked her mane around. The rainbow colored ribbon tied into it flopping around. The ribbon. The symbol of her love for her lifemate, and yet it was a constant reminder of him being missing.

Letting out a soft sigh, she looked down at her reflection in the water. Why had he gone? Where had he gone to? All these questions seemed to reflect back to her in the mares eyes that stared back in the water.

Holding his breath, his slunked into the waters a bit deeper, keeping his head to the side. He opened his eyes and peered up through the waters. A flicker of movement caught his attention. He slowly raised his head up and looked to the obvious mare that he had failed to notice. He turned his head to watch, but then closed his eyes. A sharp pain shot through his head and he rose to his feet out of the waters. Pushing back the pain, he watched her once more. He noticed a bit of color in her hair. He squinted and began to stumble closer. It was a ribbon that adorned her mane, and most certainly looked just like the one he found. Reaching where he had stashed it, he approached her carefully.

The sounds of the night seemed to stand still as he came to face her side and then leaned in wearily with the ribbon in his mouth. His eyes spoke of question and wonder. He looked hopeless, and wished to not seem a fool in front of the mare. His heart searched for any answers that she might be able to give him.

Now the sound off hoofbeats filled her ears and she turned her head to look at the source. A stallion was comeing closer. He looked filthy and bloody, like he had been in a really bad fight.

She watched as he pulled out an identical ribbon like her own and she blinked. Looking at it then at him. Upon closer inspection, he looked like her mate. Only...ragged and bleeding. A wash of fright came over her. What had happened to him? He looked so confused and not himself. The way he moved it seemed like he wasn't sure where he was. Turning slightly, she smiled warmly, trying not to scare him. "Hello there...."

A smile. Tears began to pour from his eyes for unknown reasons. He brushed his face against his legs, the tears just wouldn't stop. Sure, this was grand, now he was crying? It was uncontrolable. "Forgive me." came his weak voice behind the ribbon. He turned to face away from her. He was embarressed at his lack of composure. He needed to pull himself together quickly. He turned back towards her and sat the ribbon down in front of her. Questions raced through his mind, and began to drown away the tears. He searched for a safe question to ask. "Is this yours?" He searched her eyes and awaited her answer.

She sighed mentally and watched as he turned away. Wanting to comfort him, but something just told her something wasn't right with him. "It's fine..." Her voice was soft and reassureing, much different from the normal times she was around him. Most of the time she was cuddling with him and acting like a little foal. But now wasn't the time for that.

Watching as he placed the bow on the ground, she frowned lightly. His question kind of hit a sore spot in her heart. Shakeing her head, she smiled warmly. "No. I'm afraid it is not. I only own one..." Moveing her head, she motioned to the one wrapping in her hair. "This one must belong to my mate as he's the only one I know who wears one like me...." Leaning down, she picked up the bow with her teeth gently and lifted her head. A saddened expression appearing on her face. Had something so terrible happened that he had lost knowledge of who he was? Who she was? The thought made her heart race.

Her mate? he repeated the idea in his head. A strong connection to the thought of being someone's mate thrived in his mind. He somehow knew what it felt like. Alas, his time was up, and his body had expended what little energy it had. Before he could search for a memory, or respond to the mare, he was fadding. He staggered to the ground in a heavy pile. He watched as the image of the mare faded to slits and then it was dark. He was exhausted and sliped into an uneasy slumber.

He awoke in a field of white daisy's, with the pugnent scent of spring all around him. Where am I now? he pondered in thought. He felt refreshed and strong with no pain. He didn't even remember the pain that he had felt just moments ago. He walked through the morning haze and up to a misplaced water fall. The water ran nowhere, yet still raged and fell to the ground, with no pool at it's feet. He steped closer and the waters in front of him became smooth like a pond, while the waters around still continued to rush in the waterfall. A standing pool, how odd. He gazed into it and saw a reflection of himself. Wow, was he handsome.

"Oh yeah, I'm a stud." he spoke as he eyed the reflection. He was confident that he was one of the best looking soquili, ever. As he admired himself, he turned his head to the side and saw a bit of rainbow ribbon in his hair. In the instant that he did, the waters fall crashed to the ground in a puddle of nothing, disapearing into the ground. The field fadded to black, and light stung at his eyes. His eyes began to quiver as he awoke from his dream. Not fully awake yet, he mumbled a name in his sleep..

"Chu'mana."

As he had collapsed to the ground, Chu'mana had rushed forward to see if he was alright. She walked circles around him, a worried look upon her face. But soon she realized he must of just collapsed from exhaustion. Giving a soft sigh, she layed down next to him, but not too close to startle him when he awoke.

Her curly tail flicked and curled around her hinde quarters as she watched him sleep. But it wasn't long untill he seemed to be regaining conciousness slowly. What was that? Had he mumbled something? What was it? It had her curious and worried all the same. Her bright green eyes watched him closely, hope in her eyes that maybe he would wake up and be back to normal again.

He slowly opened his eyes, and smiled at Chu'mana. As if he knew her, he leaned in and gave one long, loving lick on her cheek. He leaned back with a warm look on his face, half warry of her reaction, but knowing he had no need to be worried. He had found his heart, and inside of it was a strong love for this Goddess in front of him. He didn't remember how, or where he had found such a prize, but he felt an undying connection. He knew that he loved her, there was no doubt about that. He called out her name, "Chu'mana". He had a loving ring to his clear, rested voice. Uncertainty still flooded about, but none of that mattered. He just held her gaze for a moment. What bliss it was to know such a love as the one he felt right now.

She blinked lightly as he opened his eyes. As he licked her cheek, she blushed lightly, though it only made her dark coat darker, barely visible unless you were looking very close. Smileing, she flicked her tail and pulled her head back, giveing him a small, sheepish look. He was acting so different than before now, not that she minded it. Infact, she liked it.

Her ear flicked idlely as she looked at him. Worry leaving her for the time being. She smiled more as he called out her name. "Hok'ee...." His name rolled off her tounge softly as she said it.
