The sun glistened off the dark skin of the muscled warrior as he went through the kata's that had helped him to be the best in the famous tournaments. His red training shirt was draped across the ground, meaning his toned torso was exposed to the air. A slight breeze swept through his hair, partially escaped at the small ponytail he kept at the nape of his neck.
Riding breeches hung low on his narrow masculine hips, the leather belt he usually wore, sporting his sword, was set next to his discarded shirt. The breeches were tucked into leather boots, they weren't comfortable with all the heat he was producing, but neither was fighting, and it was something he had to live with. It didn't look like it was bothering him much, there was a dangerous light in his yellow eyes as he seemed completely focused on his kata.
Circe watched her trainer/owner, carelessly flicking her tail as she chomped at the pile of rabbits she had caught earlier while waiting. Her orange eyes were half-lidded, but on the lookout for anyone coming up the road that they were off to the side of. Orange claws gripped the meat, as though keeping anyone or anything from taking them.

A large darkly colored griffin was coming up the way, taking the road from town. It walked on at a steady, but casual pace, wings folded. Why the griffin was not in flight was anyone's guess, his red and blue crest waving in the breeze like a brilliant banner. Although the human lounging atop him, her back against his neck, might have something to do with it.
The blonde woman was reading a book, the two seemingly not in a hurry. However, as they came within sight, Darkfeather's red eyes quickly focused on the nearby man, and didn't stray for an instant. A low hiss emitting from his throat. This caused Nikki to look up for a moment before chuckling to herself, giving the griffin a pat. "Now now, there's no need to get uptight." Her gaze went to the curiously colored, horned griffin that was in the man's company. Interesting.

Tynan trotted down the road, tail swishing from side to side as he stared up at the sky.He watched as a black sillouette flew around in a circle a few times befire diving down a bit, pulling back up to circle some more.He cocked his head to the side, wondering what it was doing.
Mia followed behind Tynan, staring about lazily through half-closed eyes.As her gazed moved off down the road she noticed a large gryphon, and someone on it's back. They looked familiar, though she was too far to recall where she had seen them, and off to the side of the road she noteced another gryphon and human.

Circe narrowed her eyes at the larger Gryphon coming up the walk, ears perking forward as she noted agression in the hiss. Glancing up she saw the younger one, and found the big one more of a threat. Standing up, she pawed at the ground and twitched her tail irritably.
Noting his partners discomfort, the strong male stopped mid kata and took a look around, seeing a familiar female wandering down the road, and on the opposite side, what was bothering Circe. He raised an eyebrow, then went to stand next to her, placing a hand on her shoulder. He himself looked almost small standing next to her, despite his 6'4" height, she easily stood at 20 hands, but he trusted her to not attack if he told her. "Easy girl."
He glanced back at the small woman coming up the walk, then focused on the other two and offered a half smile as they neared, waving a small greeting. He looked at the Gryphon, appreciating how well it was taking care of, much like his Circe, then looked up at the woman, admiring her as well.

A young, rather flustered looking woman, was also traveling down the road, having more difficulty than others. The reason soon became apparent- she had a very, very new looking gryphon chick at her side, one that seemed reluctant to move on such a sunny day.
Sil sighed, stopping to squat by Touchstone. He had bathed him today, and apparently now he was punishing her, but the sticky bits to his new feathers and fur had to be cleaned. Now he looked like a right handsome little boy, eyes a lazy blue.
Suddenly, the young gryphon's ears perked up, and he took off with a dash frequented by tripping and stumbling as he tried to master complete control of his new-found limbs. He thought he smelled something, something that smelled like him! Again Sil sighed, taking off with a sprint to chase down her gryphon.
Finding herself in a clearing, she stopped a ways away while Touchstone blundered forward, committing what would be a social faux paus in the human world- he went straight up to the black female, sat there, and opened his beak, looking expectantly up at her.

Xenneger had grown into a slightly less ugly youth. That perhaps was not the best word, he was never ugly, just...With brown plumage and yellow beak and feet, he was plain, he was painfully plain. He could lie down in the dirt and someone wouldn't even notice him until they almost tread on him. But now, the tufts atop his ears and the tip of his tail were spanking new white, it was an odd, but kind of welcome change.
It took a while, but Xenneger was finally calming down. He wasn't hyperactive as a juvenile, but was raised wild, and was flighty and nervous. It took Dian a long time to get the brown gryph to stick around let alone follow him like he did now. He wouldn't say he trained the boy, either. Xenneger, he noted, seemed to loathe whenever he appeared to be training the gryph. He had to be sneaky about it, or he just got riled for no reason.
Perhaps it was because he was born feral, and couldn't stand the thought of being tamed. Regardless, he was levelheaded now, with a keen and calm hunter's head. With long and poised strides, Xenneger walked beside him, neither ahead or behind, a coy smile splitting his beak. But soon enough old habits kicked in and he crouched, freezing expectantly. Dian paused too, looking up ahead. There was a clearing, in which a congregation was forming.
Xenneger chirred softly at Dian and stood again, stepping purposefully to the edge of the clearing and watching the others with an even gaze.

Circe chirruped and looked down at the youth at the base of her large claws, sharpened to a lethal point. Her orange eyes were dangerous, but she didn't look at the youth with adversity. It was just a chick, she could recognize that... that and perhaps something maternal that she didn't fully understand stirred within her at the sight of the baby. Tapping it lightly with a front claw, she turned back to look at all the other people suddenly around them.
The toned man looked around curiously. This road was never this crowded. Maybe there was an event going on that he didn't know about. With a mental shrug he dismissed it then looked around again at all the people. Seeing Dian and Xenneger, then a short blond woman running toward him... probably the owner of the tiny black male now at the feet of Circe. She was good with younglings, so he didn't make a move except to smile at the rapidly oncoming female, "No need to panic ma'am, Circe is good to the little ones, but you should try to control him in case he approached one less tolerant."

All thoughts of nobility and grace seemed to shoot from his head at the sight of Circe. Even to his young mind, she was easily the most gorgeous gryph he had ever lain eyes upon. Raven dark plumage offset by start orange markings, she blew his mind away.
Dian, while not an imposing figure, was not a shrimpy one either. He posessed caramel colored skin with bright orange hair. Unlike most people with orange hair, he was not bespeckled with umpteen million freckles. He posessed gentle golden eyes, had light naturally pointed ears the which were normally hidden under his hair, and had a strange penchant for wearing a large racoon tail on his behind.
As odd as it would normally seem, it fitted him. He wore a crimson shirt with the collar unbuttoned tucked into black slacks, and was barefoot. He looked at the man with the largest gryph curiously.
Xenneger approached Circe cautiously, chirring goodwill toward her. His tufted tail lashed back and forth with his barely contained excitement.

Circe raised her head regally at the new Gryphon that had decided it wanted to be friends with her. Ears perking forward she looked down at him, and offered a friendly growl, rumbling from deep inside her enormous chest. She recognized his excitement, but she was modest despite being used to seeing such reactions. She had been very socialized, as she met with a lot of crowds, human and animal alike.
"Hello." The man greeted Dian with a half smile, his voice deep like his gryphons so it had a resonating quality to it. "It seems we're going to be making all kinds of new friends today." He glanced at Circe, pleased she had turned out so well rounded, then looking over at Xenneger, "This one is yours I assume?"

Xenneger fortunately couldn't understand english, or he would have rounded on the man and squawked at him. Instead, he shivvered from beak to tuft at the friendly rumbling Circe graced him with. It left the crest atop his head slightly askew as he ventured closer. Truth be told, she was the only adult he'd ever garnered the courage to approach, and it only heightened his elation that she didn't react viciously. Many did, and it took a long time for Xenne to regain his confidence. His voice was high and sweet, mingling purr with chirp as he chirred at her again.
Dian let Xenneger be as he approached the other man, smiling graciously. Not like he really could rein the littler gryph in. Xenneger was still feral at heart, he had to want to listen to Dian to do anything. The man wasn't keen on breaking the feral spirit, he preferred to guide than rule. "Hello." He replied, his smile beaming ever more. "It seems so." Orange brows crinkled at the last statement, "No, he's not. I guess...Well I look after him, but I wouldn't claim him."
He didn't need to ask to know this main laid claim on Circe, and raised her...Well the chaps said he raised a mount. He wouldn't judge them, Circe was a lovely and vibrantly healthy gryphon.

Circe ruffled slightly in a proud way, then leaned down to meet eye to eye with the younger gryphon so apparently happy with her positive reaction. Despite her role as a battle gryph she was very friendly when not in a tournament, or being attacked. Besides, little ones were fun, their naivete entertained her. Clacking her beak at the young one, she gestured with her head at the pile of dead rabbits behind her, as though offering one to youngling.
"A feral then?" He raised a brow at the friendly brown young one, "You know well enough to not take him into town then? Wouldn't want any trouble with stupid authorities having him put down for attacking anyone." He detested that humans didn't give animals enough of a chance to survive in their structured world and found that most of the times animals misbehaved, it was the damn humans fault anyway.
"This is Circe, she's my companion. My name is Syam." He offered a hand out to the smaller boy in front of him.

Xenneger reeled as she lowered herself to his level, bringing him almost beak to beak with the great black gryph. He squeaked and his ears shot up at attention, but he didn't backpedal. As much as he wanted to turn tail and flee, he didn't think she would snap at him, though one well placed one would take his head off without any trouble at all.
Looking at her, he let his gaze drop tp the pile of rabbits. He gazed from her to the rabbits, amazed. She had an entire mess just laying there! He thought it was impossible to be more impressed. He reciprocated the beak clacking and slid around to the pile, taking one greatfully. He peeped thanks to the generous gryph, oblivious to the humans talking behind him.
"Of course. I couldn't make that one go into town if I tried. One sight of a road and he turns tail." Dian lived outside the town limits. A slight risk, but his grandfather had made the place, before it was protected forest. It was out there that he first came across the wee one. Xenneger came and went from his estate as he pleased, though lately he'd taken to following the young man around. The shorter man reached out and grasped his hand in a warm handshake.
Despite his ways, there was something good and honest about the man that put Dian at ease. He shook his head slightly to let his hair drop away from his face, revealing those almost lampent golden eyes. "Dian, Dian Chegrin. It's good to meet you."
"Xenneger!" Dian called to the gryph, nose first in a rabbit. "Xenneger!" The adolescent heard the voice and turned to look at him, "That's Circe." Xenneger turned to look at her, then back and Dian, peeped and continued to eat.

When Sil caught up to Touchstone and finally heard the kind man's words, she grinned slightly, panting interrupting her relief. "I'm so sorry... He's newly hatched, and strong. Just yesterday, in fact." Sil, grinned in pride at her strong little boy. He certainly was a precocious beauty!
Touchstone glanced back at Circe, looking happy that she had even acknowledged him, before trundling back to Sil, chirping once, and promptly falling asleep sprawled across her feet. Ouch... that rather hurt. He was already quite heavy, and carrying him anywhere would be a burden- just wait until he got to be Circe's size, or perhaps even bigger! He was, afterall, a male.
With obvious fascination, Sil watched the other grphons play and socialize. Was this what Touchstone would be like once he got a bit older? He showed signs of being quite social, but at the same time, gave off a reserved aura, as if he couldn't make up his mind over what he wished to be.
"I'm sorry once more," she said to the man, though it appeared his attention was no longer focused on her.

"It's not a problem." He smiled at the flustered looking blond girl. "My name is Syam." He reitterated to her, since she hadn't been there when he introduced himself to Dian. "You've got an impressively sized youngling there. If you're lucky he'll get big like Circe. But she's actually quite an anomaly. Probably why she hasn't found a mate yet." He joked lightly.
Circe cocked her head to the side lightly in wonder at the little ones ability to conk out so easily. She ignored her partners joke at her expense. She couldn't understand -what- he was saying, since it was just in stupid human talk, half the time they couldn't understand themselves, but she understood his tone. Ruffling slightly in annoyance, she turned to the heap of rabbits. Grabbing one up by the tail, she set it gentlyl beside the baby, then turned to the rest of the pile to eat with Xenneger. Socializing was fun. heart

Xenneger watched the black youngun who had approached Circe before him. A kind of oddball character, he wandered right up to her, then wandered off and fell asleep. He didn't think much of it though, and tucked into his offered rabbit with more vigour. Perhaps he would be as good a hunter as her when he was older. He'd been chasing rabbits all his life, and had gotten fair at it. It would be easier once he could be death from above, but the best time was when he had been sleeping by a patch of clover and a rabbit had actually jumped on him to get to it.
Dian smiled at Sil as she ran up to the two of them. He really was young, wasn't he! The chick wandered right up to them and plopped down for a nap within moments. The redhead bobbed his head in greeting to Sil. "My name is Dian. Pleased to meet your aquaintance."
He turned golden eyes to Xenne and Circe sharing a meal. The larger gryph had dropped a dead rabbit beside the dark chick before returning to the sizable pile. "Do you train her to hunt, or is she a mount?" He asked Syam, watching Circe with wonder. But Xenneger caught his eye, as he was performing a curious task. The dusky gryphlet was eating carefully, pulling the skin from the rabbit with careful attention, effectively skinning the small prey and leaving the pelt undamaged. He lined the knotted tree hole he lived in with the pelts, leaving him with a soft floor to sleep on.
