Halili glanced around the night-filled jungle. Why did it look so much scarier at night?
She had fallen asleep with Majani, as normal, but something woke her up. She wasn't sure of what it was, but it bugged her, and she couldn't fall back asleep. Then a loud noise had gone off, and the frightened lion couldn't help but run from it, leaving Majani behind. Now she felt horribly guilty. Majani was strong, he could take care of himself, but she should of warned him!
She held back most of the tears, though, as she glanced around the dark place that she called home. Just...where was she?
"Halili...shold stay quiet," she told herself. "Halili shouldn't attract unwanted attention."
But perhaps she had talked to herself a little bit too loudy, and one could overhear if they were close enough...

Nuhusi was a creature of the night by nature. Normally she would sleep through the bright hours of the day and prowl around at night, like any respectful leopard. Not to mention a lot of her spiritual rituals were more easily conducted at night. Her supersticious nature completely led how she lived her life. When they weren't involved, however, she tended to be a pretty relaxed being.
So when she heard someone talking while she climbed through the canopy of a dark tree she bacame curious. Dark as the sky she moved through the shadows, her movements near silent. She went toward the strange lioness from the folliage, not really realizing her actions might be concidered sneaky. He called out with a smooth, purring voice, "Hello there."

Halili froze.
"W-who's there?" she studdered, scared. Normally she was a fun-loving, trustful lioness, but the darkness hid everything. And hiding was something that Halili didn't like.
Her emerald eyes opened wide, reflecting the moon's light glow as she tried to see who talked to her. It sounded femanine, so perhaps nothing bad would happen....right?

"Why, I am of course," Nuhusi replied with amusement. She sat a few feet away from the striped lioness, her orange eyes glittering like fireflies in the dark. She almost felt bad for the poor thing, since she seemed so startled. But she really didn't know why she would be so upset. And since she really couldn't empathize, since there were no evil spirits about, she remained calm and pleasent.

Halili swirled around until she saw a form....or at least what she thought was a form.
"W-who are you, though? Halili likes names..." she said shyly. Her heart was still pounding, and she didn't like how the stranger was teasing her, but maybe they'd be nice to her now, since she found them....right?

"Ohhhhh...? Halili does, does she...?" Nuhusi purred in the dark, grinning from ear to ear. This silly lioness was as easily scared as a cub. She didn't see why she should be. The shadow spirit didn't cover the moon tonight, so all was well. It was rather silly that she talked in third person. Who knew what kind of spirits she could draw with something like that? "And who might this Halili be?" she teased warmly, though she knew very well who it was.

Halili gave a little huff, knowing that she was getting teased. She tried so hard to talk like everyone else, but it was difficult for her mind, and mouth, to get used to. And Majani didn't seem to mind, so she wouldn't change it.
"Halili is Halili, and a lion at that." She proclaimed, proud that she was a lion. Maybe that would mean something, since there weren't that many lions around in this jungle. Her tail flicked behind her, her frustration obviously apparent. "And she wants to know who you are....voice she can't see."

"Halili is Halili?" Nuhusi mimicked, amusement in her voice. She sat down where she stopped, her gold eyes glittering in the dark. Her tail curled around her paws as she smiled. "Well, I'm still not sure who Halili is," she murmured, her voice low and smooth, "but tell her I am called Nuhusi. And maybe the spirits not give her an unkind glance." The second line she gave was a formal greeting of her beliefs, one she normally didn't get to say due to how the conversation went. But somehow it seemed fun to use it here.

Halili was confused on her reply. "But..." She was going to say more, but nothing really came to mind. And only then her emerald-eyes caught the moon's reflection in a pair of golden eyes. Halili jumped back a bit, not realizing just how close this creature was to her. What a spook!
"Nuhusi? Halili...will remember that..." she started, peering at the form. Leopard...? There sure were a lot of leopards around the jungle. Hopefully this one would be nice, like Keone.
She didn't know what the black creature said after she had spoke her name. Spirits? Glances? "Halili...doesn't understand." She said bluntly, assuming that Nuhusi would know what she questioned.

Nuhusi chuckled, a smooth sound like a low-toned bell. "Do not worry Halili's pretty little head over it," she purred in amusement. Explaining her beliefs to intelectuals was hard enough-this poor thing didn't seem to be the sharpest claw on the paw. But she supposed there was nothing wrong with that as long as it was entertaining. "It was simply a greeting," she added simply, hoping that was easy enough to understand.

Halili's face flushed, feeling moreso embarassed now that she learned the silly things Nuhusi was saying were as simple as a 'hello.' Halili's mind could usually not grasp on the more complicated statements that most adults could understand, and so she could get frusterated really quickly.
She took a moment to take a breath, and let it go. No use in getting flustered! It would only get more annoying. She glanced back otver at the leopard, giving her her own short bow, and greeting. "Sorry, Halili says hello, though, too."
She swished her tail, curious, though she knew that the answer might be obvious, she still had to ask. "Does Nuhusi live in the jungle, too?"

This poor thing. Someone could insult her and degrade her right to her face and she'd never know. Definately not the most intellegent lioness ever. "No...I don't really live anywhere in particular," Nuhusi replied simply with a roll of her shoulders in a shrug and a elegent trash of her tail. She was starting to grow bored already. She couldn't very well tease someone when they couldn't even realized they were being teased. She might like to have fun, but she wasn't spiteful by nature.

"Really?" The lioned questioned, instictively taking a step forward. Wow, so she explored the whole world? Halili never did much, always either being scared, or Majani telling her to not go too far. She never really minded, but now that they had been in the jungle for a while, she wanted to meet others. Especially other lions! All there ever was in the jungle were leopards, and though she liked them, she wanted some lion friends, too.
"Well...D-do you like it here?" Her expression flashed to shyness, her emeral eyes peering around in the darkness. "Erm, but it's okay if you don't. There's just lots of leopards here, and so Halili thinks that you'd like it with all the other leopards..."
