My first and favorite anime (that I've seen fully). I watched Thundercats and Voltron as a kid but can't recall them completely so I can't say I've seen them entirely...
Anyways, Evangelion is an awesome series for those who love plot... it's overdramatic at times but it's incredibly serious when it's not either action-filled or comedy.
If you have seen or are watching the series and have unanswered questions about it I can likely clear things up for you... I own the boxed set and hope to get the movie set on DVD for Christmas... (though it prolly won't happen).

I was addicted after watching it first time ... it really didn't fit any gender and somehow was unike ... .. but the end and so called explane movies .. really messed my mind at that time ...
so how about the end .. whene the world had died and only two persons left alive ... what was that all about crying

The ending (in my own opinion btw, nothing I'm about to say is supported from here on out) where Shinji and Auska were the only two people alive... It was Shinji choosing to start over - start with a clean slate... for him and Auska to become the first two beings on the planet and to make the world a better place in his eyes for those to follow.T he series is unique in the philosophy behind it... and really the people who've seen an action clip or two likely think that the characters in the movie are just fending off aliens looking to take over the planet. Those people whio then choose not to watch it because it's an overdone plotline miss out on something much different. If Evangelion was upfront about everything they wanted in their plotlie people would say the ending sucked cause they didn't explain it like the rest of the series... really the ending is supposed to be left for individual interpretation so they had no choice but to make the whole series out of suggested concepts for you to try and understand.

i was on the 2nd to last episode then they stopped showing it stare gir i was so mad. i couldnt find it anywhere. crying

But you helped a lot with that last part .. Adam and Eva idea really feels right ...

Well... the chosen ones were not really set up by any kind of pattern...
Pilot 01 was Rei, a clone whom they wanted to configure with the Evas in order to later in the series establish the dummy-plug system...
Pilot 02 was Auska who suffered traumatically when her mother died.
Pilot 03 was Shinji who not only lost his mother but his father owned the NERV corporation
Pilot 04 was (I can't recall the name) whose sister was injured during the first battle between Eva and Angel...
Pilot 05 was the Angel in disguise... he was chosen by that commitee board in order to sabotage operations so he wasn't from the classroom technically.
And really the chosen ones weren't handpicked from a specific classroom... cause Shinji was brought from wherever else he previously lived in Japan to be a pilot and Auska was brought from Germany... they were just enrolled in the same class. The reason pilot 04 was chosen was because they were desperate and the committe saw a drive in him to get back at the things that had hurt his sister.
As far as why Auska and Shinji were chosen though... their mother's souls were implanted into the Evangelions they piloted... if you recall from the movie Auska had realized her mother was always with her and that's how she was able to pilot the Eva so skillfully against the other 7 dummy plug eva's at the lake.

As was obvious with Pilot 04's case though... and Rei at the beginning... they couldn't just choose "anyone" to pilot an Eva. The eva's had to have a connection to the pilot in order to respond. They did work around that with the dummy plugs though and that I've yet to figure out...
and you can't forget that the world Shinji chose to create - it was created around however he wanted to start over. Just because it only showed us the two humans doesn't mean there wasn't some "Garden of Eden" or something to help get them started... as I mentioned before the ending was left unexplained for viewers to decide for themselves...

Warfolomei ... do you read net manga .. if you do I can give a link 3nodding did you heard that mangaka got killer letters from readers becose of that eek I do if I don't know anythign about the series... but if it's something I know and/or like already I wanna invest in it and support the people who make the manga 3nodding Tis the same for me with music... if I hear a song I like I'll download it... but if a Band I like comes out with a new CD I'll preview a few songs and most of the time buy the albumn... see what I mean?

I know this thread is probably dead, but I just happen to run into different threads. Oh well sweatdrop I can remember they use to show it on t.v. and I got caught up in the plot of Evangelion. I found it to be a bit weird, and to be honest I didn't know it was one of those series that you iterpret things on your own. (-_- I'm a bit slow on things like that) I don't think I got a chance to see the very last episode, I wish they'd start showing it again.
