A dark Feli had situated himself beneath the gnarled roots of a tall and somewhat withered oak, nestled between some of the larger ones that formed a small bed of sorts. He lay there, rolled onto his side with his underbelly protruding outward for all to see, his glinting red eyes half-closed. Multiple Feli had passed him, shooting him awkward but cautious glances as they meandered by. He'd merely grinned back at them, a maliciously deviant expression that looked wholly out of a very well-done horror movie. Of course, looks were always decieving, and Enigma was most certainly not as fearsome as he seemed to enjoy making himself seem.

Tail twitching lightly, the female opened her mouth in a yawn as she glanced around with her dark, drowsy eyes. The small female padded about, absentmindedly, her gaze drifting to and fro.
"I need somewhere to take a nap..." She murmured softly, her voice audible only to her. She didn't feel like wandering into the Feli house, as there were far too many others in there today, and she wasn't quite in the mood to wander deep into the forest. Thus, her only choice was the stay outside, near the Feli house, but far away enough as to not to disturb others.
Reina wasn't usually one to zone out, but when she was tired like this, it was hard to pay attention. She wandered close to a large, oak tree, only to suddenly stumble, and trip over a black, furry mound.
That certainly woke her up.
Wincing, she rose quickly and, without bothering to look at the Feli whom she tripped over, bowed her head quickly. "I-I-I'm sorry!"

Enigma shifted a bit as a dark, furry something flopped down onto him, gazing up at her as she bowed with a quirked brow. He sat up, stretched from head to tail, and yawned - all very, very slowly, as if doing so deliberately, though why was unknown. He smiled at the female, seating himself in the grass before her.
"It's quite alright, dear," he said, his thick voice quite unlike that of most Feli. "You meant no harm, and therefore did none."

Glancing up gratefully, the aqua almost fell over at the skull-like face. It took her a moment to regain herself, before she offered him a small smile. "I thank you for being so patient with me..." Pausing for a moment, she shifted awkwardly. The Feli's almost frightening face seemed to betray the Feli himself. He seemed quite...polite.
"Are you sure you are not hurt, though?" She asked, a frown spreading across her maw. "I did trip over you..." Reina hesitated, ears flattening a bit.

He shook his head, his long ears flopping around. "No, no, I'm fine." He stood up and circled her, wiggling a bit as he did so. "See? Nothing's broken."
He chuckled to himself at the irony of such a comment. Why, a dead Feli getting hurt... how absurd!
"What's your name, love?" he asked, plopping back down in front of her. "And don't be afraid - I don't bite." He grinned at this.

Seeming relieved and convinced, she too sat down on the grass, tilting her head a bit as she was asked for her name. It was certainly a good thing she was the friendlist, and sanest, of her family.
"My name is Reina, sir." She replied politely, tail twitching as she grinned. "May I - uh - know yours?" Pausing, she covered her maw to stifle a yawn, flushing pink. Luckily for her, it wasn't all that noticeable, due to her dark fur.
"I'm sorry..." Reina certainly seemed to apologize a lot. "I'm just a bit tired..."

His tail gave a long, slow flicker, as if it had been caught in some random updraft.
"Ah, Reina - a lovely name. Does it mean anything?" He glanced down and stretched out the toes of his paw, observing it idly for a moment.
"I'm but a shadow with no name, but those who know of me call me Enigma." He smirked at her. "It's a pleasure you meet you, Miss Reina." He extended that paw for a polite shake.

After a moment's pause at his comment, the aqua's face turned red, now more noticeable against her fur. "Not to my knowledge, no..." Was her reply, to his question. Then, she grinned a bit. "Perhaps I should make up a meaning...?"
"A shadow?" She repeated, murmuring quietly. Looking a bit confused, she quickly snapped out of this when she was offered his name, and extended paw. Shaking his paw, she smiled. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Mr. Enigma..."
"Aah, are you new here?" She then asked, hoping she wasn't being to abrupt. "I mean...I never quite saw you here before..."

"It would do you a great justice, I think, to have a meaningful name, made-up or not." He smiled at her as he returned his paw to the ground.
"A shadow, a whisper, nothing more than a dream..." He flexed his wings a bit. "The pleasure's all mine. And please - just Enigma." He wasn't a fan of unnecessary formalities.
"New? That would depend solely upon your definition of the word." He winked at her. "I've been around longer than you, that's for certain, even here in this place for as long as I can remember; but I've been - ah, sleeping - for quite some time, and only recently was I reawakened to be reintroduced to the world."

"That's true enough..." She said thoughtfully. Frowning, she tapped at her maw with her paw. "However it'd depend on the meaning, and I lack an idea..."
She emitted a soft laugh, and smile. "If I call you Enigma, then you must just call me Reina." The black Feli replied, as she had noticed that he had referred to her as 'Miss Reina'.
At all this, the female furrowed her brows a bit, tilting her head. "That's an interesting way of answering my question..." Reina paused, as an unexpected shiver ran down her spine. "Forgive me for saying, but it almost seems, from your description that you were...
Well...
Dead."

He chortled, throwing his head back to allow him a full-blown laugh.
"Ah, Reina darling, such a clever one you are!" He regained his composture a moment later, settling back down. He folded his wings about his back.
"To put it bluntly, I am indeed dead." He smiled curiously at her. "Even so, do not judge a book by his cover, however gruesome it may seem."

...What?
For a moment, the aqua thought he was joking, though honestly, it was hard for her to tell. "D-dead?" She repeated, shifted uncomfortably. "Are you kidding, or..."
She trailed off. Somewhere in his eyes, she could see it. Reina had never met another dead Feli, but somehow, it was obvious he wasn't lying once one were to look into his eyes. Swallowing, she shook her head a bit, looking less frightened, and instead, more bewildered.
"But...how?" The black aqua asked, meekly. Then, frowning a bit, and tilted her head. "Gruesome?" She glanced at Enigma with a shake of her head. "The cover of this book, is not gruesome at all..."

"How? Again, darling, that depends on your meaning." He smiled at her, lifting a paw to his face to give it a few casual licks.
"If you're wondering how I died, I can hardly remember. It was ages ago. I remember vaguely the taste of jealously, fear, anger, hate, and remorse on my last day among the living.
Now, if you want to know how I'm still alive, per se, that I truly could not explain to you. Only one with far greater knowledge of such things could tell you. I do know, however, that I am not the only one of my kind."

Not the only one? ...
Quietly, Reina let everything he said sink in, and she shook her head with a small sigh. Why was she so...so...what? Frightened? What was there to be frightened of? Enigma was - or is - dead, and has come alive again. And as a polite Feli. All those tales she's heard of the undead being...well, vengeful were wrong.
Or at least, wrong in this case.
Perhaps it was even the IDEA that someone could come back from the dead, that sent shivers down her spine.
After a moment, she sighed. "To die with such feelings..." She murmured, ears flat.
