:: Lights Up :: There's nothing on earth like it. The heady exhiliration that comes with the applause, the rush of adrenalin as your turn in the spotlight comes, and the ever-sweet taste of success when the crowd chants your name. And trust my words... when you get good enough, they will roar for you, for the little spark of color you put into their meaningless, grey little lives.
Welcome to the Circus...

:: On Stage Now :: Name: Tirrian 'Tirri' Age: 20 Species: Kiaraki (Sea-Elf)
Personality: Tirri never once forgets that she should have died when thrown out. She KNOWS she shouldn't still be breathing, walking and talking. That knowledge has made her surprisingly humble. Soft-spoken and quite deliberate in both word and action, Tirri prefers to observe before ever making a move outside of the show tent. She will also never display anger of any kind, as she was conditioned since childhood to believe that showing/being/doing anything that angered the Mbelen meant to court terrible punishment. It should be noted however, that this does not make her a paragon of niceness and virtue. She may be humble, but slavery also has made her bitter and to some extent paranoid.
Costume: *working on it*
Appearance Eyes: Silver-blue Hair: White Markings: A small "slave" glyph tattoo under her left eye, several whip scars across her back Description: Tirri is small, delicate and displays an assortment pack of birth defects: white hair, silver-blue eyes, white tinged with pale ocean blue skin (koi fish pattern) and a distinct lack of webbing on her hands and feet. She moves gracefully and has the body of a dancer. She wears her hair long to hide the scars on her back as well as to create a cloud effect when she dances. Her ears resemble a cross between normal human ears and lionfish style fins. She also has a bit of a dorsal fin (ragged due to a whipping) as well as elbow fins. She is not unattractive, nor is she a stunning beauty. If a single word had to be chosen to encompass her appearance it would be either 'striking' or 'memorable'.
((Note: An average Kiaraki has blue-green skin, black eyes and blue green hair as well as webbing between the fingers and toes to aid in swimming.))

:: Ran Away to Join the Circus :: Her World: Tirri most definately hails from a World B environment. In her world, there is little in the way of dry land, and the Kiaraki are a slave class. Their overlords, the Mbelen (Anthro-shark), are powerful elemental magicians as well as fierce fighters. Other species exist on the dry land, but rarely interact with either Kiaraki or Mbelen, preferring to keep to their own territories and thus remain somewhat free and most definately a bit dryer. Kiaraki possess only Water elemental magic, but those of stronger ability are killed as soon as their power manifests. The males work for the fishing fleets and the females serve as household slaves. A few Kiaraki of both sexes serve as pleasure or entertainment slaves. Children, until the age of 12, are kept as hostages to ensure their parents good behaviour. Once the young Kiaraki reach 12 years, Mbelen overseers will determine the best way to get the most use out of the young slaves. Parents are allowed minimal contact with their children once the child is weaned. And due to the Mbelan's voracious appetites, there is never a guarantee that the hostage will survive that long.
** Though mainly water-dwelling peoples, the Kiaraki and Mbelan are both able to function on land. Each species possesses gills as well as lungs. Some Mbelan seem to enjoy living on the land, though they stay close to the water's edge. The rest tend to view the land as a necessary evil and a dandy way to kill off wounded slaves or rivals.
Her Past: Being born abnormally colored and apparently unfit for normal work brought Tirri to the attention of the regional Lord's Dance Master. Bullying the overseer into releasing Tirri to his custody, he vowed that he alone would be able to train her to be of any use. The overseer gave in and with a touch of relief, signed her custody to the Dance Master.
Once in his hands, Tirri was told that she had a choice. She could learn from him and become an object to be admired and live fairly comfortably. Still a slave, but far better off than either of her parents. Or, she could refuse and have her throat ripped out on the spot.
Choosing the former, Tirri went with the Dance Master and became an apprentice Dancer. One year into her training, the Master noted her small ability to shape water and began to teach her how to incorporate this talent into her dances.
During her 7th year of apprecticeship, disaster struck in the form of the Master succumbing to old age. She was handed over to a new Master, this time a savage female who had no patience for a misborn, half blind slave.
Unable to easily make the transition between Masters, Tirri angered her new Master one night and was brutally whipped. The female Master then ordered Tirri to be taken and thrown onto dry land to allow exposure to finish killing her.
How Tirri survived the whipping, followed by exposure, not even she knows. She slowly made her way across the region, hiding in caves and living on tiny animals and whatever she could find. To those who showed mercy, she would often dance, bringing smile tot he faces of those who would share what they had.
Her Present: It's been a year since Tirri was left to die. Amazingly, she survived and is grateful to whatever deity proclaimed this to be. She made her way further into strange lands. It was here that she first encountered the Cirque. Noting the smiles and bright eyes that accompanied each performer, she went to the Ringmaster and begged to be taken on. Her Future...?:

:: Dancing the Night Away ::
Abilities: Seductive Dance, Ritualized Dance, the ability to call and control plumes of water
The Act: Due to her odd appearance, Tirri would be relegated to the Sideshow. As she first begins to learn the ropes, as it were, she would act as an object merely to pull people into the show. This would include provacative posing, some dancing and a few minor displays of her water control.
As she and the Cirque become more comfortable and familiar with each other, she would gradually be allowed to take part in the show, dancing and twirling through and with water plumes and shapes.
As her exotic nature and bizarre ability begin to garner her more attention, Tirri would soon be introduced as a solo act, alotted her own chunk of time to enthrall her audience. Using her skills and talent, she would, depending on the composition of the audience, seek to either wholly seduce or perhaps tell a story with her dance. In the case of seduction, the water plumes would dance, twirl and caress around her as she danced, only revealing tantalizing glimpses. For story telling, the water and she would move about each other, the water taking on shapes and forms as the story was woven.

OOooh! *3* Can't wait to see her!
And you can avoid Mary-Sueism just by making her shortcomings as awesome as her positives. biggrin

The only advice I can give is to not play up her looks so much. It can give the wrong idea and make her seem narcissistic where, as the rest of her description says, she is not. :3
