Aislinn made her way back to the duplexes. She'd been out on the beach, as was evident in the rainbow-patterned bikini she was decked in and the bright orange towel she had wrapped about her waist. She'd been spending a lot of time there, really. There wasn't much to do on the island, and the beach was the most welcoming location most of the time. At least she could look out and pretend everything was normal, she was just on a vacation in the caribbean or something.

"oof!" she'd been lost in thought, distracted with the situation a bit, and with her leg, which had been bothering her a bit lately. She wondered if it were starting to turn into something else, like fins the way she'd seen Sayuri have. That would probably hurt like mad.

She looked up at the person she'd bumped into, a large, rather obviously british-type person.
"Oh....hello."

Oz could still picture Sayuri's transformation, the screams and yelps, the disfigurement. God, if that was his fate, he hoped it wouldn't be too painful. After a morning of moping around with that thought torturing his mind, he left his duplex in a slight flurry.

Big mistake.

"Ooof!" he grunted, having bumped into someone. Or something.

What he saw was very much human. And very much in a bikini. But that wouldn't come into his male mind until later. Right now...ANOTHER NORMAL PERSON!

"Hi," he said, a little surprised at first. Since the party, he'd gone from thinking everyone was in elaborate costume to thinking everyone must be weird creatures. "You're still...normal...right?"

Aislinn blinked, trying to regain her balance-- the bump hadn't particularly agreed with the precariousness of moving forward with a cane,
"Er...well, about as normal as any woman in my position could be said to be."

There, that ought to do it for response anyhow. She looked at the man curiously. He looked a little spooked, that was for sure. She wondered what had got him....perhaps he'd just heard. If so, he seemed to be taking it at least a little better than she had.

Without thinking this through entirely, Oz scooped Aislinn up into a big hug, reluctant to ever let her go.

"Thank god! I haven't seen a single other normal person on this blasted Island!" he said with glee.

He put her down gently, now taking the time to actually look at her properly. The brightly coloured bikini and orange towel seemed to trigger something from the party - a really brightly dressed girl. Could be the same person. Next...the chest...ooops! Shouldn't look at that for too long. And then, the cane.

"Hi, my name's Oz. I guess you're my neighbour then," he said with a big smile.

Aislinn was started by the hug, but laughed it off quickly enough. Hey, who was she to deny a rather adorable brit guy a hug when he needed it, right? Besides, if he was telling the truth, he really -really- needed it anyhow.

"Yeah, everything here's about as natural as they come," she teased, "No added preservatives or anything."

She settled into a comfortable stance and returned the eyeing, vaguely trying to associate him with a familiar face, but coming up empty,
"Hey Oz. I'm Aislinn...duplex 73, actually, next to Tristan."

"Hehe, I don't know -with a bikini like that, it looks like you've eaten too many Smarties or Skittles," he laughed, almost giddy with happiness.

Right now, he didn't care if he was going to change into an animal, or if Aislinn was going to change into an animal, for the time being, they were both normal.

"And I think I'm your upstairs neighbour," he said, pointing up. "I promise I won't make too much noise. Its not like you need the beauty sleep though."

Oh dear. Flirting again.

Aislinn laughed,
"First I'm chubby and now I don't need beauty sleep?" She teased. She knew he hadn't meant she was overweight with the skittles comment, but it made her giggle to think of it. She was proud of her body, really, she kept in excellent shape for her riding, though she'd put on a few more pounds than she would have liked when she was recuperating..but she'd worked that all off now.

"Or maybe you just like your women a bit overweight?"

"Huh...uh...oh! Oh no! I didn't mean it like that! I really didn't! I meant, with the colours..." he began, words just stumbling out of his mouth in a race to apologise to her.

She didn't look overweight in the slightest, and who was Oz to judge anyway. He had too much padding about his stomach.

"I'm digging myself into an early grave here, aren't I?" he blushed.

She shook her head,
"Nah. You would've said something a bit more insulting than skittles if you'd meant I was fat, I think. At least, that's what I got when I put on a few extra pounds before a race once."

She shook her head,
"Horse people can be pretty crazy like that. Jockeying worse, though."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 06, 2006 2:44 pm

"Oh, you ride horses?" he asked, his interested quite peeked.

He was never fond of the beasts himself, since he was too big for most horses anyway. But his mother had been a champion horse-rider, and his sister had always enjoyed the sport too.

What was he doing? Just rambling and rambling. Maybe he hoped she wouldn't go if he could keep her talking.

Her face grew a little icy at this question,
"Used to," she mumbled, motioning at the leg,
"Can't anymore. Had an accident."

She looked at the Duplexes. She didn't want to talk about the accident, and she wasn't sure she wanted to talk to this guy anymore, if he was going to ask about it. She could use a shower anyhow, maybe.

More, she just wanted to get away from the subject. The guy seemed nice enough, and if he'd just found out...least she could do...yeah.
"How about a drink?"

Alcohol. Yeah, just a little. That would make it better.

Thats funny. For a tropical climate, Oz suddenly felt the chills. What was it with him and saying the wrong thing? First, it was Tommy at the party, then he had done it several times with Sayuri (but she was quite forgiving). And now, he'd made a fool of himself with Aislinn.

He grimaced, his cheerful disposition dropping as he rubbed the back of his thick neck nervously.

"Oh I'm sorry," he said, quite genuinely apologetic.

Hmm, if she was offering him a drink, then maybe he hadn't offended her too much then.

"A drink would be great."

"My place, or the bar?" She'd snatched a few bottles of stuff she liked from the bar-- she knew it'd be restocked anyhow-- to play around with. She enjoyed coming up with new drinks.

"I've been working on some new mixes if you want to try that, or we can hang out at the beach bar if you'd rather stay somewhere a bit more public,"

She winked, relaxing again. It didn't take her very long to get over small incursions, really, but it wasn't hard to keep her angry at you if that's what you wanted.

Uh oh. Was she referring to alcoholic drinks? Maybe he should...wait a minute. This wasn't even a rehab clinic, so why should he bother with the detox? And besides, what would a little bit of alcohol do? He'd been clean for over a month, so it wasn't going to turn him into a raging beast.

"Your place sounds fine, I dread seeing something else crawl out of the jungle or the water," he said, laughing awkwardly. Inside, he could only imagine what else was on the Island.

She grinned. Yeah, she'd want to get somewhere safe too if she were him.

She motioned ahead, and went in the direction of her Duplex, pulling the door open and waving to him,
"You're lucky I don't have enough stuff for a proper mess," she teased, "but in a few months it'll be a disaster area."
