Cyberwoman by Chris Chibnall
In the basement of the Torchwood building, Ianto Jones hides a terrible secret. As a Japanese doctor attempts to rescue the soul of a half-Cybernised woman, a quiet day in Torchwood quickly becomes a living nightmare. Has Ianto unleashed a force that will destroy his colleagues?

Well, Ianto gets his character-of-the-week episode. I thought it was okay... better than last week's, although I felt the story was brought down a bit by the cheesy cyber-bikini design. And Torchwood's pet pteradactyl, an idea which I found kind of silly back in the 1st episode and was hoping would never show up again.
I dunno. There's all sorts of little things that bugged me, but I kind of liked the episode as a whole. It just doesn't seem right that Ianto should get a pass for the whole incident, even though he was essentially responsible for two people getting killed. Then again, how many people died because of Gwen's bad toss to Owen in episode 2? At the very least I think they ought to have kicked Ianto out after giving him the memory-loss drug. How can they even trust the guy?

Holes holes HOLES!
In the story and the cybersuit!
But if you're thinking that the sauce her up and then the pterodactyl idea was stupid, WRONG! There has been the protein sauce that tells it what is ok to eat is spur of the moment and stupid, WRONG (ish). It's been on the site for ages. How many bullets did she take to die? And how does Jack's little wristwatch control EVERYTHING in torchwood?
BEST EPISODE YET!

I got a bit of a lump in my throat at the end of this one... but when Gwen asked if Jack had ever loved anyone, I had to stop myself shouting "Of course he has!" at the screen...
And is it me, or do next week's baddies look a bit like Krillitanes?!

Lol, I think one of the four of us who watched this episode actually said "YAH!! HE'S LOVED SOMEONE DAMMIT!"
I loved the look he gave at that question. It was all...Don't ask don't tell.
He's so much more guarded now. I like that, means more fun unravelling layers.

But seriously, I think this one may have been the best yet. I know there were some iffy bits, but I liked the whole darker side to people bits in there. (Woo, my grammers just flown out of the window tonight) And the fact that Ianto got more than a few lines. Go emotional (and scary) Jack!

Woo! Back from holiday and finally able to get round to viewing this week's Torchwood I was pleasantly surprised to find a half-decent episode stored amongst the usual angsty faux-mature fare on show here.
Jettrick especially liked...
The botched Cyber conversion on the crazy Jap chap. Sure the shots of it were gratuitous but it totally deserved it. Awesome visual.
The innovative use of a pterodactyl in an emergency situation.
The genuinely surprising twist in the tail that almost made the ending bearable.
But Jettrick had issue with...
Ianto and his spoiled five year old routine. If this was intended to make me feel something for the character it hit way far of the mark. His endless gurning did little to help matters. Just look at that face and tell me you didn't want to slap it half the time.
The obligatory kiss scene that came out looking like another botched attempt at maturity on the show. It'll earn that when the writer's stop coming up with stuff that would shame a hormonally challenged teenager.
The terrible ending schtick between Jack and Ianto which we've all seen before on Doctor Who. Then the way the team all lined up behind captain Happiness himself to off the Cyberwoman chick. Come on, she'd just made herself human. They could have easily overpowered her and locked her up considering she was only such a major threat with her cybernetic upgrades. Apparently they're just heartless biotches the lot of them. Makes me wish cyberlady had just lasered them all to death rather than chase them around the complex and give them time to get so narked off with her.
Overall it gets a C+ on Jettrick's big board o'scoriness. Hardly perfect, but not the train wreck I was suspecting either. Well done Torchwood, you're finally moving forward instead of back.

Just look at that face and tell me you didn't want to slap it half the time. Thank you for identifing that for me. I was trying to figure out why I didn't like Ianto. What was meant to be pining for a lost love came across like a fifth grader crying at recess. I genuinely appreciate it. Though I loved the episode and all...that was getting old quickly. Though Ianto decking Jack was quite amusing.

Holes in the plot, all of the equipment the cybermen brought through in the last two doctor who episodes was covered with void stuff because it was from their universe, so unless they took components from around Torchwood to make the conversion unit, it should have been sucked into the void with the cybers and the daleks. And then theres the armour of the cybermen they took across, why didnt that get sucked in?

I liked it. Overall it was interesting, and I love Jack even more. The fact that he forgave Ianto says a lot about Jack. It makes sense with Jack's character that he let Ianto come back. I mean, if he didn't kill him, he would have erased Ianto's memory. And Jack would never do that since it's been done to him. I think there could have been an amazing dialouge scene between Jack and Ianto that apparently the writers decided to leave up to the fanfic authors.
Both of the snogs bugged me. There was no point whatsoever for either.
The Japanese guy who was partly cyberized... the effects for that were amazing. I LOVED it. Just looking at it made me cringe at how creepy it was.
The plot was pretty good. It could have been better. The pterodactly thing was just, well, eh. I was expecting a cooler end to the cyberwoman. The end thing with switching bodies made me feel REALLY sorry for the pizza girl, and was good emotion and character wise, but really stupid when you think about it. How is that even possible? Please, no one answer that. >>;
