"I wonder...when they'll come for me. Soon I hope!" She squee'd as she bounded about the forest oasis outside the temple, the morning was just starting at was apparent she was a morning Malu. Bright like the radiant green leaves of the tropical forest, her orange and green pelt matched in perfectly, one would occasionally lose track of her if it wasn't for her orange stripe. Slowing in her step, the young Malu peeked her head out of a bush to gaze at the vast desert before her. "Wooooowww." She whispered lightly, Oh of all the treasures she could hope to discover out there!

Blinking, she walked out onto the sands....it was hot, a big change from the temple. Yet the outstretch was too much of a urge for her sense, and with a giggle she bounded clumsily out onto the sand. Kicking up specks of dirt, her curious eyes glanced around in excitement, this was wonderful!!....Untill she heard a hiss which made her heart stop. Turning around, she could see eyes rise from the sand as its thin tongue flicked out of its mouth. It was a snake, perfectly hued with the sand...the child's eyes went wide, as thoughts rushed through her mind.

'What am I going to do...I can't....I...I have to run!"

And like that, she turned and bolted as fast as her stubby legs could carry her, which wasn't fast at all as the snake was gaining in this race. That was when the unthinkable happened, stumbling in her step, Elina stumbled down the sandy hill till she reached the bottom. Whimpering as her hind leg was throbbing, the baby girl looked fearfully at the snake as it closed in, gliding down the hill. Tears began to form and fall down her cheeks, as she choked down a cry...her parents were never coming back...she was going to meet her end here...hope was...lost.

Mythos, a proud Malu that was noble, peaceful and quite fun to be around, walked the deserts, quite far from his location of home. Keeping that always partial smile on his face, he walked the sands, his chin up high and his eyes open. Stopping to look up at the sky, he wondered why he would always trek in these deserts just for some adventure and excersize in this scorching heat, but he did not mind. It was his own way of fun and keeping track of his thoughts as he ventured alone.

Suddenly! a cry! something was wrong! A baby Malu it seemed to be. "What the... it's coming from the west!" Mythos said, quickly accelarating and speeding up fast to reach the obviously distressed Malu. The sand behind him flushed into the air as his feet smacked against the sand with intensity to his speed. And now he was there... staring down into the sandy hole as the baby Malu was cornered by a snake. Growling in his anger, he ran as fast as he could to the aid of the young Malu. Just as the Snake was about to strike, a smack of a paw sent it flying to the other side. Mythos was just in time. Running toward the snake, he looked down at it as it hissed in it's anger, preparing to strike Mythos, but the oppertunity was not given as the Malu grasped the snake by it's tail using his mouth and spun it into the air, sending it flying into the distance. The danger was gone.

Looking back at the baby Malu, Mythos walked toward the female and smiled. "Are you okay? What's a young Malu like you doing out here alone?" He asked, making sure she was unharmed, observing her and quite intrigued by her colors. He always had a warm figure to make others feel better when around Mythos, but his warrior spirit was strong and if the time required to battle, he would not step down easily.

Elina stared in absolute awe, the tears glimmering in her eyes had come to a stop watching his heroic feat. Just as she felt as if she had taken her last breath...he had appeared out of no where and took on the snake as if he was invincible. In Elina's mind....this mysterious stranger was. Gasping slightly as he hat took the snake's tail in his mouth and flung it, her head slowly turned to watch it fly over the hill and then she was still.

Once he asked if she was alright, that was a different story. Immediately the young malu jumped to her feet as she held an excited adoration in her eyes while watching him. "Wooooowww!! That was amazin!!! How did you do that, he could have eaten you! You're...my hero!" Elina beamed, her tail wagging lightly "I was just exploring...and then that slithery came up and wanted to get me! And...well....I don't really have anyone. My parents will come back for me soon though! I hope!" She smiled, althought slightly saddened. She was still unaware that most abandoned Malu children never saw their parents again.

Mythos, smiling as the child Malu spoke so full of excitement at his courage, listened on to her speech of how awesome Mythos was and a hero. "Well... just glad that you're safe little one." His smile growing more wider, warmer and softer. It was as if whenever he flashed at smile, nothing else mattered, even if you were a stranger to Mythos.

Steping closer, he noticed her tail wagging wildly, that is until she spoke of her parents. This child did not know any better that her parents had abadoned her and were not coming back for her. Mythos knew this well... because he was abandoned as well. Not at child stage, a bit older, but nevertheless, Mythos was very young when he lost his parents. This young Malu was the same...

Mythos began to think. What should I tell her? tell her the truth? a white lie? She's only a child though! Oh man... i'm going to regret this... The Mallard colored Malu thought, gazing into her eyes that were partially saddened, yet excited at the sight of Mythos. "Oh heh! Ya sorry... honey... thought i'd lost you for a minute. I'm your... dad of course! Haha! Now let's go home shall we?" Mythos said, nothing having the heart to break the child Malu's one. She was full in spirit and the only way to keep her happy was to let her know that Mythos was her 'father'. It couldn't be for a long time? could it? maybe a day, at most a week... right?

It was as if the young Maluess had been awarded a sea of candy, as her whole body perked and eyes went wide as saucers. "D...Daddy?" Her eyes suddenly welled up with tears as they slid down her cheeks, jumping over and nuzzling herself up against him. "I..I knew you would come back for me! I hoped it soo bad! I missed you....I was scared!" Elina broke down, sniffling before trying to pull herself back together as she wiped the tears away with her paw.

"So daddy, where is home??" She brightened up once again, her tail wagging as she looked up at him. "I dun remember where it is! Where's mommy?" She asked curiously, looking around the field as if she expected to see her walk in at any time.

What're you doing?! you've gotten yourself into a pickle... you can't take care of a child... but... she's so cute and helpless and lost... Mythos thought to himself, looking down at the child Malu nuzzling herself against him, warming up to the words that 'he was her father'. Looking down and gazing into her eyes and smiling gently. Maybe i'll tell her sometime soon, but for now, she needs a home... He thought, widening his smile.

"Home is this way honey!" He smiled, kneeling down a bit. "Now c'mon get on my back and we'll go home." He motioned her, as the child Malu smiled with joy and hopped on her 'fathers' back. Mythos, raising up, slowly walked out of the deserty hole and made the journey home. Mythos... was at silence of what to tell her about her mother. "Uhh... Mommy... well mommy is... away..." He said, trying to think of how to not appear suspicious at all.

Suddenly! a thought came across Mythos. The name of the child! He didn't know it! What should he do... thinking quickly, as he continued the journey home, seeing as the desert slowly was fading and blending into the forests and trees that surrounded the river side. Not quite home yet though. "Uhhh... honey... Just to uhh... make sure you didn't... hit your head when you fell... can you tell daddy what your name is?" Mythos said, nervously smiling, trying to sound as legit as possible.

"Ohhhhh! She'll be back soon then." Elina smiled, giving a loud 'weeeee!' as she rode along Mythos' back. It was like having her very own big snuggly horsey...or something along those lines. Nuzzling her face into his feathers, she was curious for a moment why she didn't have such cool feathers like her father did, yet it wasn't something she didn't know how to comprehend it. So she just stayed silent.

Laughing merrily, Elina looked to Mythos with a smile. "Silly daddy! I'm Elina, don't you remember?" She mused, her head turning to and fro as she glanced all around at the passing scenery. "I think yoooouuu were dropped on the head!"

"Haha, yes, but you know how forgetful I am honey." Mythos laughed, giving yet another nervous smile as he continued to make the journey to his home... and Elina's new home. Mythos' home was in the woods, deep in it by the river. The more gentler side of the river AFTER the waterfalls. Before the waterfalls, everything is fast and rocky.

Arriving at home, he let Elina off of his back and slowly led her inside. It looked to be an actual home. Unknown where it come from or who made it, it was quite old in nature but still stable. Mythos of course had turned it into his own Malu like place, making it more suitable for an animal than anything else. He already had food prepared, offering some to Elina. "Eat up." He said, giving his famous warm smile again.

"Elina... listen... your mother is not... per say... coming back. You see... she's gone away... forever." He said, giving the news. He didn't actually know about any of it or even who her parents were, but he had to tell her partial truth. Since he was her 'father' now, where in gods name would the mother be? He never said she was dead, not to hurt her too much, but he told her she had gone forever... Mythos felt very guilty about all of this.

Snickering softly at Mythos, Elina's young mind was filled with the thoughts of finally having her father return for her. How embarassed she was to have given up hope so easily on her goddess!Gazing about with avid interest in her home, she had felt slightly saddened on how she was never going to see her again...yet at least she had Mythos, and that was all she could ask for. Nuzzling her head into Mytho's back, the young Malu coo'ed gently.

"Thats okay, Daddy. All I need is you....and i'll...be happy." Elina's yawned, curling herself between his wings as the excitement of the day had worn her out. Soon, she had drifted off to sleep, dreaming of her new life with her father at her side.
