Vulperomes yawned and stretched, then padding out of the room that held the shrine for his chosen god. The fox colored malu had a natural confident smirk, and walked with a skilled silent gait, having trained to be heard only when he wanted to be.
Heading through the halls he had no particular destination, but enjoyed traveling none-the-less. taking a final turn he found himself outside of the temple, on the shady side in the time of the rising sun. He paused, then sat down, taking in the sights.

He had been praying again, something that was an often activity since he had left his homelands. Sometimes it was tough for the Malu to keep going on with his life in the desert, so far away from the oceans and the seabreeze. Perhaps this was a test from the god of oceans? Perhaps it was some hurtle he, in his great wisdom, had thrown at the male, to challenge him beyond what a normal day would bring. And if this was a challenge, there was one thing Kamin was certain of: he could not fail his god.
After a long session infront of the shrine, the streamlined being left the temple, a look of concentration adorning his face. Surely there was something out here other than sand? A stream deep enough to swim in, perhaps? Oh, how wonderful it would be to swim again. The Temple was located in an oasis, after all; there are always streams in oasis, aren't there? This Kamin could not answer for himself, for he was no desert dweller. He sat in the temple's shade, staring out into the never ending blue sky, day dreaming of the tide and the salt.

Spotting the gray and white malu, Vulperomes raised a brow. He seemed distracted... which was perfect. The red and black male stood and glided over to the other male, greeting him smoothly, "Good morning, how are you this fine day?" He inquired, sitting down and staring out at the oasis, rather than look at her his new chosen companion.

Kamin was deep in a puphood memory, swimming for the first time ever, gliding on the tide. He smiled slightly, remembering the cool feel of the ocean water and the poud look on his mama's face. The revere was broken sooner than the Malu would've liked, however, as an unexpected visitory plopped down beside him. He turned his head, glancing over his new company. Somewhat fox like, Kamin mused. Those foxes were sly creatures, always interesting to watch in the dusk. "Morning. I'm doing okay, and yourself?"

Vulperomes smiled smoothly, "I'm doing fantastic. Today is promising to be wonderful." He continued to look out to the landscape, "What more could anyone want?" His ears drooped cockily and eyes went half-lidded, studying his new 'friend' discreetly in a way he had trained to not be noticed.

What a confident creature, Kamin mused. He couldn't recall a single day in his life when he had looked at it so optimistically and, from the beginning, called it 'fantastic'. In fact, he couldn't even remember using the word to describe anything at all, much less a day. It wasn't so much that the grey male was pessimistic; he wasn't at all. More of a realistic Malu, one who looked at the lake and said, 'It's half full, but I'd like some more.' His eyes followed the fox's gaze out and over the land surrounding them, trying to find something so interesting that it could captivate one's attention for such a long time. "Fantastic, you say?" His question was merely something to fill in the silence.

The morning light had not yet transformed the desert into a searing palace of trepidation, allowing Imogen to enjoy an early morning stroll. Her heart raced as the cool breezes nearly lifted her off the sand-swept floor. The "outside", as she called it, was something she rarely got to enjoy. To see the world in the light was something she had always yearned for; the morning gave her that.
Her pale eyes scanned the soft horizon and her chest ached as she saw a small arch of sunlight creeping into the sky. Daring to continue her journey, she continued forward, curiousity stinging her gaze.
Imogen caught the scent of two illustrous Malu; neither of which she had met before. They seemed to be calm in their enigmatic state of contentment, peering over the sea of sand. Her ears perked forward, instantly delighted by the idea of making a new friend.
"Good morning!" she said with as much cheer as possible, her voice soft and almost meek in comparison to her adult body. She seemed to have the characteristics of a child, overwhelmed by joy; untouched by worry or sorrow.
"How are you this fine day?" she asked, choosing to sit on the other side of the grey Malu, for the fox-colored one had already possessed the opposite side.

As the two males sat in an almost uneasy silence, Kamin wondered what the other was up to. There was something so slick about him, something that was almost untrustworthy. Though he would never say it aloud, the Malu wondered if he should really be sitting with someone who seemed to have an agenda of his own. His thoughts shifted slightly, turning toward the idea that possibley it was a game of wits that he just had to win. And then, the female came.
Kamin turned his head, quite releived for a break in his paranoid thinking pattern. It wasn't like him to have such ideas, but the presence of the foxy being had set him off somehow. As the bubbly Malu approached, however, he felt quite happy, and even managed to smile. "Good morning, to you. I am doing just fine. And you?"

Imogen tilted her head slightly, her light-colored eyes sparkling with intensity. "I'm excited," she responded cheerfully. "The sun is being slow this morning, which means I get more time out here." A small smile creeped from her lips. "I rarely get to see the world in the light," she said, a slight hint of sorrow accenting her voice.

Kamin watched the Malu with interest, her bubbley attitude rubbing off on him more and more. She was just so happy. It was refreshing, really, to have such a spunky creature around. When her words turned from bubble to pop, he cocked his head, confused. She didn't see the day often? Why, Kamin would surely die if he didn't spend time out in the sunshine. It was almost like a part of him! "Why don't you get to see the light often?"

Imogen bowed her head slightly, looking slightly ashamed. She was sure that most Malu knew that she was diseased. A slight wrinkle crossed her nose in disgust, but it passed almost as quickly as it had appeared. "If I stay out in the sun too long, I might die," she said sadly. Her ears pressed against her skull in shame and embarassment.
"My parents always kept me inside," she explained, "So, I've gotten used to it." Imogen brought her gaze up again to meet his, her courage returning to her suddenly.
"Oh... I'm Imogen!" the pale female chirped with excitement. "Who are you?"

Sunlight? A killer? How was that possible? In all his life, Kamin had never come in contact with anything even remotley related to that. He had heard of irritated, red skin if a Malu unnaccustomed to the sunlight stayed out in it too long, but never of a Malu dying from it. His ears flattened slightly, and his eyes filled with pity and sorrow. The poor female before him would never live a life like the others. He perked up, however, realising that it didn't ruin her life for her. She was quite the perky creature, which was a good thing for her mental health. "Nice to meet you, Imogen. I'm Kamin. I came here not long ago from the southeast." He was growing used to throwing that extra sentence in there from the getgo, knowing that the very next question was going to be 'and where are you from?'

"Oh?" she responded with a tinge of curiosity. She paused for a moment, remembering her father's obsession with ancient maps that had been passed down in his family for generations. It was unfortunate that the young female had been unable to enjoy exploring with her parents; both of whom had worshipped the gods of journeying and exploration.
"I'm from the northern areas... did you know that there are some places that barely have any sunlight at all for days on end?" Imogen gave a sweet smile, feeling proud of her bits of random knowledge. "They're frozen over and it's difficult for most to survive in such areas..." she added, her body tingling with excitement.
The sun because to seep into the atmosphere, casting a hazy glow over the female's white body. She blinked several times, her eyes stinging from the intensity of the light.

"You know, I've never been to the north. I'm not sure I could live in such a harsh climate forever, though it does sound quite unique." He smiled kindly, storing away her random facts as trivia for later use. "My home was hot and humid almost all year round, and to some is annoying, but I don't know if anyone would find it unbearable. The heat and brightness can be dealt with my staying in the shade. And the humidity... well, my family doesn't have very thick fur, as you can tell from me." He nodded his head toward's his side, pointing out the very fine furs on his hide. They created a more streamline body, and was a better design for those native to the hotter climates.
His gaze turned back to out over his new home, following suit of the dark and silent being on his other side and falling into silence. His eyes cast over everything, gobbling up all he could before blinking. When his eyes turned back to Imogen, he was shocked to see her glow. Her white furs were almost eerie in the light, and gave an effect Kamin had never seen before.

Imogen gave a small smile, a soft sigh escaping her delicate maw, her gaze floating down upon the sea of sand, avoiding the penetrating presence of the sun. Her coat continued to emit a silky glow, reflecting the light's rays, though she did not take notice of that. Instead, she contemplated Kamin's words with interest and intrigue.
"I remember my father saying at it gets warmer the farther south you go... and he always enjoyed exploring the waters..." she responded quietly. "I wanted to go with him, but my parents disallowed me from presenting myself in public when I was smaller." She gave a small chuckle, wondering what they would think of her now.
