getting back into theater

hi everyone, well i haven't been in a production in over a year and they were all in high school. But now i am graduated and i am feeling a bit to intimidated to go try at any of the local playhouses. i realy whant to get back into it but i need ways to build my self up towards it again. not to mention i will be competing with lds kids who make it harder bacause they tend to be realy realy good. any advice would be great.

Just prepare to the best of your ability. Talk to your old theatre teacher, prehaps he/she would have some pointers. I think you will do great, you seem concerned, so probably you are good! Just practice, and do your best. Remember though. Theatre is a practice of rejection. Sometimes one wont make it. But there are plenty of oppertunities out there! biggrin Break A Leg!

Just remember why you enjoy theatre. Of course practicing is absolute to sharpening your skills again, but it's meaningless if you don't carry the ardor for it. If you keep remembering why you love what you do, intimidation seems a little less scary. Evident, but less influential at least.

Watch some theatrical stuff. It helps you when you need to add a little more motion and if you remember something from a play, COPY IT. Honestly, the best actors ever copy things from others all the time.

But otherwise, yeah. What everyone else said

Remember what made you start theatre, and what youre performing for, and that may just give you the stage presence you need adn will probably bring your skills to the top. I wish you the greatest of luck!
