The others often refer to 'we are the good guys.' Goodwin mentioned Nathan was a bad person.
So in the others dictionary what is a good person and what is a bad person?
Then comes smokie. Smokie and the others are related somehow.
Danielle refers to Smokie as 'The Security System'.
So where does Smokie live?
This hole.
Why else would there be a random hole there? I believe that it's one of possibly many ways to smokies home.
Why would it drag Locke into the hole?
In depth examination, Locke as we all know is a very interesting and probably the most important character. Locke was healed by the island. I think there was a lot to look into Locke's past.
So what does smokie do at home?
As we all know it surrounded Mr. Eko and they had a stare down in The 23rd Psalm.
Eko scared the monster off.
While smokie was surrounding Eko we saw imagery of his past.
This lead me to believe that Smokie was gathering information from Mr. Eko's past.
Okay so Smokie knows about Mr. Eko's past. So then Smokie goes away.
But where did he go to?
Back to his home, in the hole. And what did he do in there? He registered Mr. Eko's information, basically scanned his past.
And where did that information go to? The others. The others are interested in who is good and bad.
So back to Mr. Eko. In The Cost Of Living, smokie appeared again. But if Smokie had Mr. Eko's information why did it come back? What was the purpose?
Something in Mr. Eko's past is making him 'bad' in their definition. And obviously they want to get rid of the bad people.
So smokie gave Mr. Eko 3 warnings.
But what was it warning Eko?
It was warning him to confess what he did wrong in his past, which was murder.
Warning 1
Yemi lighting Eko's house on fire. Now could smokie do this?
Fire=smoke. Connection there.
Warning 2
Giving Eko the picture. Meaning what he needed to confess the little boy even said confess. Smokie transformed into these people.
Warning 3
The Smoke monster itself.
Final Warning
Yemi again. He was the first warning and the final warning. Mr. Eko refused to confess, offically making him in the others terms bad.
Now Vincent.
Thank you zombie_soiree who confirmed that someone that works for Lost posted on the fuselage that Vincent is not Smokie, this changes my theory a little.
I have noticed repeated bad things happen when Vincent is around at random times.
I think Vincent is purley a symbolic sort of thing. Not an evil dog but his purpose is for warning.
Vincent instances-
In the beginning of Lost, Vincent appears to Jack and runs off. Jack, finds out he was in a plane crash after Vincent appears.
After this encounter, people from the beach scream and find Scott dead.
These are just a few Vincent occurences.
Vincent is simply giving them warnings, like the security system to Eko. But this time involving the losties letting them know something bad was going to happen.
Now how would Goodwin know that Nathan was a bad person? The others are very sneaky, but who is to say that they are actually doing research? Wouldn't it be a lot easier for something to do the work for them?
Nathan was gone for two hours according to Ana Lucia. Nathan replied that he was going to the bathroom.
Two hours? Okay well he really had to go or something else happend.
He could have had a smokie encounter. Nathan could have heard something and decided to follow it, in the meantime it scanned Nathans past and registered the information again in it's home and sent the information to the others.
So what makes the others 'good'?
They havn't done anything wrong in their past they lived on the island their whole lives, sure they are in contact with the outside world but they have not done anything wrong. So why did Ethan hang Charlie? Is Charlie a bad person? My guess is yes. They already had Charlie's information and decided to get rid of him now, they thought that they were doing the island a favor.
New Stuff-
Walt
After watching The Cost Of Living this completly became familiar to me.
The shhhh face.
Here's Walt doing the same thing. This was cluing us in on that Walt was in fact the smoke monster.
So what is up with the shhhhh?
I've been thinking and it means 'Don't tell anyone you saw me, keep this all a secret because this is only for you to know.'
So the Smoke monster has different assignments or missions based on one person at a time.
Shannon
Warnings
First warning
Walt apppearing in her tent speaking backwards.
Second warning
Smokie, in the form of Vincent, leading Shannon to the grave site, clueing her in on "Your next."
Third warning
Walt putting a finger to his lips before Shannon died.
Final warning
Whispers heard before Shannon was shot. "Dying sucks, relax dude she likes the guy. I want to see you face to face. Shoot Ana shoot." Translations from lostlinks.net
So we have all these warnings, but why would Smokie be warning Shannon?
Boone wanted Shannon to die. Why would he want Shannon to die? Back in season 1 the episode where Boone died his final words were, "Tell Shannon..." and he never finished.
Well lets look back to the whispers which could clue us in on a connection. This quote, "I want to see you face to face, shoot Ana shoot." The whispers seem to be edging on to shoot Shannon, but i think the more important part is "I want to see you face to face."
Well lets take a look at who is actually saying these whispers.
The first part, "Dying sucks." Sounds like Boone to me, he had a dramatic death.
But what about this- "Relax dude she likes the guy." Obviously Boone had something against Sayid, so im thinking this isn't Boone saying this specific whisper. So who would be saying this? Someone else who died? Or the smoke monster itself because we know that smokie is capable of speaking. Like Yemi to Eko, "You speak to me as if i were your brother."
So back to the face to face part. Boone wanted Shannon dead because he wanted to finish what he was saying before he died.
So why couldn't the smoke monster form into Boone and tell her?
Boone wanted it to be personal, hense the "I want to see you face to face."
So how did smokie get Shannon's information?
Vincent once again. A. No one would suspect anything. B. Easy scan.
Interesting how Vincent seems to run off at random times...
Smokie inside the losties heads... literally.
1. Sawyer
This is the scene when Sawyer grabs Kate by the neck and shouts "Why did you kill me?"
This i believe is again smokies responsiblity.
Smoke monster took on the form of Kate's dad, who was blown up by Kate.
The smoke monster basically went inside Sawyer in the form of Kate's dad.
2. Locke
This is the scene where Boone appears to Locke and brings him to the airport.
The smoke monster thought this was important. Why? No one else could have saved Mr. Eko except for Locke because he had complete faith in the island and would be the only one that understands.
Locke seems to be able to communicate with the island, i consider smokie to be part of the island and it's abilities. Smokie could have heard Locke's plea and gave him further instructions hense the episode name Further Instructions.
Other smokie occurances.
Jack's dad
It had me thinking if Jack was on the island for 3 days how could he be hallucinating already? Then came the black smoke. Jack's dads coffin was empty which made me think was that really his dad?
We can connect this to another instance in the Cost Of Living when Mr. Eko goes into the beechcraft and his brothers body is missing.
Later his brother appears in the form of the black smoke, just like Jack's dad.
So why are the bodies missing?
If smokie is going to take on the form of someone for a specific reason, he needs genetic information that means taking the body into it's home. We know now that the black smoke is capable of holding people.
Dave
So is Hurley really seeing Dave? What was the purpose of Dave?
So Smokie can change into people, why not Dave? Someone who Hurley has questioned before. If smokie has a scan of Hurley's past, surley he could change into Dave. But why?
Dave is someone that didn't want Hurley to change for the better, in fact encouraged him to do wrong things.
On the island Dave told Hurley the island is not real, he's in a coma and if he jumped off the cliff, it will be over with.
Why would smokie tell Hurley this in the form of Dave?
Hurley was always covinced by Dave he pursuaded him to do things.
So this got Hurley thinking.
So why does smokie want Hurley dead?
They think Hurley is somewhat of a jinx to the island.
Hurley won the lottery with the numbers 4815162342, which gave Hurley all bad luck.
He comes on this island and the numbers appear again, Hurley is convinced he is bad luck.
Smokie doesn't think Hurley is safe, he might mess something up.
If smokie finds a body, it's automatic sence is to take it for further research.
Sure it could transform into them if it didn't have the bodies but it would make the most sence if smokie took the bodies if they were available.
Smokie is trying to gather as much information as possible to make the most sence out of it.
