It's a really good play, but the ending made me so empty inside. It feels like I'm in an abyss for some particular reason.
A once simple play just impacted my life. sweatdrop

I was going through some books that I had packed away in storage to see if there was anything I could take to exchange at the used book store and came across my old copy of this play. Upon seeing it I wanted to start reading it again rather than do my work.

Is this the same Crucible by Arthur Miller? I haven't read it, but I"d like to.

I've never read the entire thing, but I just snapped to attention and began to recite the scene I did in acting class from it. "As bare as a December tree I saw them all, walking like saints to church, running to feed the sick, and hypocrates in their hearts."

Ah, yet another thing I need to read.

I agree with you.

but that's why I liked it!
No catharsis whatsoever, and the audience feels absolutely dreadful because if they have depth and saw the allusion to McCarthy (as the opening audience did), they probably feel like crap.

I love The Crucible! It's so beautifully written. I've read it twice and plan to read it again, since we are probably (hopefully) going to do an essay on it. John Proctor is a true modern hero!

We're doing The Crucible at my school next year. I haven't read it yet, but I know the drama teacher picked the show because so many people at my school love it.

I hate to say.. but I never liked the Crucible. sweatdrop
I guess my English teacher caused me to hate it because she dragged it out over several months. I got sick of it after a while.
