  Apple ran around the fields happily. He could feel the cool air rushing through his mane and tail. Whinning happily he looked around for his queen. Where is she? The stallion loved the mare so much! All he ever did was think about her and having a family of his own.

Quietly the mare stood, staring up at the beautiful clear-blue sky. Over the past days she had seen many pregnant mares and foals running about with their mothers. Yesterday she adopted a lovely basket, but her heart yearned for a family of her own. All Nalani wanted was to have something to protect and love. Sure, she had Apple to love, but he was strong enough to defend himself and didn't really need her help.
Her ears flickered at the sound of hoofbeats, ones that sounded so familiar to her. Her king, Apple, was roaming nearbye.

Apple looked over and saw his queen looking up at the sky. He could see her ears flicking, listening to his hoof beats. Happily he whinnied to the mare in greetings. Slowly he started to walk over to the mare trying to see how she was feeling today. She looked sad which made the stallion sad. What can I do to make her happy? he thought to himself.

Slowly she turned to face him and smiled, trying to hide the sadness she felt inside. "Hello, my dear king. How are you?" Apple was the sweetest stallion she had ever met and she loved him dearly. He seemed to be a gift to her from the heavens. Never had she imagined being with someone as caring as him.

Apple sighed happily. Feeling his heart skip a beat when he saw her he ran over to her and nuzzled her affectionatly. "I am great my queen and how are you?" He loved Nalani very much and was happy to be with such a kind and beautiful mare. The stallion hoped that she would want children like himself.

She playfully nipped at him. "I am ok, just watching the clouds to see if I can make out any objects. I think I might of seen one of an eagle, but I can't really remember." Her tail swayed slightly as she looked around. "So...have you seen the mares around here lately? They're all getting pregnant or having foals. Must be wonderful to have a family of their own." In the tree next to them there was a family of Blue Jays and Nalani looked up to watch them.

Apple nodded, not wanting to be too forward he remained silent about having their own family. "Yes. It must be very nice to have someone you can watch over." he sighed and thought about having his own family with Nalani as the beautiful mother.

The mare restlessly pawed at some flowers beneath her. She wanted so badly to ask him about having foals of their own, but she was afraid he would freak out and refuse. Nalani sighed and walked off with her head lowered towards her favorite spot at the beach.

Apple followed the mare knowing something was wrong with her. "What is wrong my dear?" he asked happily. Nuzzling her neck he smiled hoping she would tell him what was wrong. The stallion trotted along side the mare until they reached the beach where he ran happily into the salty water. Thinking about how silly he looked he blushed a little then turned to the mare. "The waters nice." he said still a little pink.

The mare still feared about his reaction to the idea of having a family. Nalani watched as Apple splashed around. She stared into the ocean's glimming water and smiled. No longer did she hesitate to tell him, "I want to have foals of my own....and I want them be as free as the sea."

Apple's ears went up and he stopped splashing a bit. "Really? With who'm?" he asked thinking it was himself. Happily he trotted out of the ocean and over to the mare. "If it's with me then I agree, I would love to have kids." Thinking about what he just said he nodded hoping that she could understand his babbaling.

Her ears perked up, "Wha? You agree?" She couldn't believe what she just heard! All this time she feared that he might refuse and in the end he wanted it. Nalani squealed, "Oh my god! Are you serious?! You want to have foals with me?." So much joy overwhelmed her that she didn't know how to react. "Apple, I love you!" Nalani lovingly nuzzled her king. This was the happiest day of her life.

Apple laughed a little also very excited. "Yes my queen I am dead serious. I want children with you." he said happily nuzzling the mare. Squeeking a little he trotted a large circle around the mare. "I promise to keep you and our children safe from harm. Nothing, I mean nothing will ever hurt you, not as long as I'm around." again he nuzzled the mare, the sand on his hooves felt good. His heart skipped a beat happily. Apple of all stallion's was in love with Nalani, and Nalani loved him back!
