Dunia, the usually proud and smug lioness was nowhere near what she used to be; now just a shadow of the seductive and controlling female that she was proud to be. The past few moons had be hard on her; she got thrown out of the band of lions she lived with, nearly starved to death having to learn how to hunt, and just now, getting attacked by hyenas.

She limped towards a shape that looked like shelter. Something, anything to curl up and hide from the world. Her hid leg carried a heavy wound, a large gash that was slowly getting covered in the ash-grey dust of these lands. The pain seared through her body, but she did her best to hold it in. No use in attracting more attention that she did not want.

Upon getting closer to the shelter, she realized that it was infact half of an elephant's skull. Shivering, she wondered if she could even bear to hide inside such a thing. But where else was she to go? She hobbled her way closer, hoping that perhaps if she rested, she'd get enough strength to do...something.

Even the strong can be broken into the weak. Dunia was a prime example of that.

Amleth yawned and padded lightly through the graveyard that had become her home. She'd managed to catch a few rabbits on her trip to the small waterhole she went to every day, and she was quite pleased with herself. One of the little creatures was clasped gently in her jaws. She had been in the graveyard long enough to know that sometimes food was hard to come by, and it paid to save up any spare.

Slinking through the shadows in the manner she'd picked up from the other inhabitants of the dank place, her ears perked. The hyena-spotted lioness sniffed. It was hard to tell through the lingering scent of her kill, but she thought she could pick up another type of blood entirely... And then her crimson gaze landed on the hobbling lioness. Though cautious, Amleth was certainly not the type to leave someone who was as badly wounded as the other lioness seemed to be. She padded closer, trying a smile through the limp rabbit.

As she neared, she spat out her kill and tilted her head in concern. "Are you alright? What's happened to you?"

The earth-tones lioness tensed up, enough that the pain in her leg increased twice-fold, and she let out a wince across her face. She struggled to keep herself standing, but still help herself up, even after sliding to the left a little.

She wanted to growl while she spoke, but that might take too much energy out of the precious little she had. "Hyenas..." she said softly, before finally sitting herself down, albeit awkwardly. Her thigh definately wasn't looking too good, though most of the blood had started to scab over.

"I...I don't know why but..." was all she said before she let herself catch her breath. how humiliating, to be attacked by lowly beasts such as hyenas. She hoped this lioness wouldn't do anything to her, even if she seemed kind. You never knew, once you were out on your own...

Amleth laid her ears back and leaned around a bit to get a better look at the wound.

"Oh, hyenas.." she murmured, seating herself as well. Her tail flicked forward to curl around her forepaws. She looked a bit distracted. "They hate lions, is why," she said a bit sadly. "At least, that's what I hear. I've never met one." she added.

"Do you.. um." Amleth waved a dark forepaw indicating the wound. "Have you cleaned it at all?" she asked. The image of Duhushi bathing his wounds in the clear watering hole came floating back to her. Well, those wounds had healed up alright, hadn't they?

"The pride here is very accepting, so if you need a place to rest, it's alright for you to stay here," she said with a cheerful smile. Her mind seemed to be jumping around. Clean the wound, shelter... food? She nudged the rabbit forward sheepishly.

Dunia's ears flopped backwards, listening to this lioness that was obviously trying to help her. One not used to taking help, she did her best to seem grateful.

"I haven't...been able to clean it yet, no." She spoke through her pain stubbornly. "It's only just really happened." Glancing over the wound, Dunia's heart sank. Now her body that she used to be so proud of was tainted, scarred for life, and by hyenas.

"Do you...know of a place where I could clean it?" It would be interesting for this lioness to take care of herself for once, but there was no point in letting it get infected. She heard that if something went untreated, it could only get worse.

At the moment, the earth-toned lioness ignored the food, too intent on her pain, and now the drive to clean it. Perhaps a drink of water might help calm her nerves.

Amleth frowned thoughtfully at the other lioness. "There's a small waterhole not far off, but it would take us about fifteen minutes to get there," she said uncertainly. "It has very clean water, if you think you could make it... can you walk?" she asked tentatively. "If you can, I think you could lean on me a bit..."

Amleth still seemed a bit awkward, which was her default state around strangers really... but she was also nervous at the state of the wound, which was far worse than any of Duhu's had been. There was also the lingering question of the hyenas. Would they follow Dunia into the maziko lands? Probably not, but it would still be a good idea to get out in the open, if the other lioness could manage it...

"If...if we can take it slowly, I think I can make it." Dunia stammered out as she pushed herself up. She stumbled a bit before gaining her composure, and giving the lioness a nod. "Just...point the way."

The pain would hopefully ebb a bit once she starting moving, the heat her muscles would produce hopefully losoening up the muscles a bit. Of course, then the blood would flow a bit easier, but perhaps then that would also help to keep out infection. Dunia didn't want a scar, but there was no doubt, with how large the gash was, that she would.

"T-thank you for offering to help...me..." She took a couple steps forward, trying to get a little closer to the lioness. Just in case she did need her to lean on to rest for a few moments.

Amleth nodded. "Okay! If you need to stop.. just.. say so." she said. "Or fall down!" she added cheerfully, sidling to walk right next to the other lioness so she could be leaned upon.

"It's just out this way... I'll have to take you around a little so we don't have to climb over any bones," she explained, walking slowly and looking back at her companion every few seconds to make sure she was alright. "And when we get there you can rest for as long as you like!" she chirped after a long pause. "It's a nice little spot.. I'm sure no one will bother us..."

She padded along, lifting her head and pausing to point a paw at a spot not too far from the edge of the Graveyard. "See that little shimmer? That's it!" she said happily. "You doing okay?"

Dunia used up most of her energy to keep up with the energectic lioness. It helped to keep her head up, though, for she knew that this lioness meant no harm, and only to help her heal from this traumatic experience.

When they had reached so where the water hole was, Dunia let out a sigh of relief. "Yes, I see it." She smiled lightly. "And it looks very inviting, too."

She stumbled a bit, leaning on the lioness. "Oh, s-sorry...just got a little tired..." She said softly. She just wanted to get near the water now, and be able to sit and rest. This took a lot more energy then she ever thought it would.

Amleth stumbled at Dunia's sudden leaning, but she quickly adjusted, straightening and pausing for the other lioness to rest a bit.

"It's alright!" she assured the brown lioness. "Look.. if you sort of..drape your paw over me, I think I can take some of the weight," she mumbled, crouching a bit to make it easier. "It's really not far now, I promise.. all flat terrain from here on!" she said with a smile.

This feels so degrading, the lioness thought to herself. She did her best to drape her limb over the lioness, feeling embarassed and grateful all within the same breath.

"Alright...flat is good.." she said, the pain in her leg growing with her impatience to get it washed out, all the time not thinking on the fact that it might hurt a bit more cleaning it.

"Here," Amleth said finally, nosing the other lioness the last few steps down to the water's edge. "Just go sit in the shallows for a little while, then lick the dirt out," she advised with a nervous smile. That's what Duhu had done, and he had healed up okay, right?

Padding forward in case she was needed for any other help, Amleth lay belly-down on the cool earth at the edge of the waterhole, bright crimson eyes watching Dunia. "Are you a rogue?" she inquired. "A wanderer? Or do you belong to a pride?"

Dunia slowly pulled herself into the water, justenough for her thigh to get fully soaked. Which was...well, most of her body. She wriggled a bit, letting the water soak in like she was instructed to. Well...bits of dirt seemed to wash out, thought it was still bleeding a bit.

After she had begun licking it gingerly, her ears flicked back, listening to the multitude of questions that came all at once. She let them float on the air for a bit before snatching them up with answers. "No pride for me. I've been a wanderer all my life." Giving her thigh a couple more licks, she raised her head up and shifted a bit to give eye contact to her new companion. "Lived with a little band of lions, until problems ensued."

"Problems?" Amleth repeated cautiously, ears swiveling forward as she spoke. She stretched and stood, nodding at Dunia's wound. "If it's clean you'll want to get out and let it dry off, probably."

Standing at the edge of the water in case the other lioness needed any assistance getting out, she offered a small smile. "No hurry, of course. You can rest here, I'm sure, but if you need I can find you an empty den to stay in while you heal back in the graveyard. You'll be safe there." She paused, then added a bit sheepishly. "I'm... sort of the queen, so I'm sure it'll be alright."

Dunia's ear twitched as the word queen weasled it's way into her mind. Well, that certainly was something that she didn't expect from Amleth. She was schooled enough to keep her expression from showing her surprise, but she did show a little smile to the offer of a cave to rest in.

"To be honest, a cave would be wonderful to keep me out of the weather," she replied. "I think I can walk a bit now, just slowly. I apologize for making you do so much, if you are a queen. I would be pleased to help you in any way in return for this, Amleth."
