Dull golden hues were focused intently on the grass beneath his hooves as each slow step he took crushed another few blades, ears laid flat back against his skull as his head drooped. He was quite the pathetic sight, the once proud and charming stallion looking like his own personal raincloud had settled over his head. Life sucked, he decided.

Death to Blondes
Cynara looked up from her brief walk, her owne emeralds gazed out. She was humming to herself lightly. She looked up suddenly and had seen a male, his ears flat upon his head and he didn't look to happy. Her brow rose inquisitivly and wondered if he was dangerous, she nickered to him wondering what he would do.

Kyaishi
Lacking even the energy or motivation to lift his head, the spotted stallion's steps halted, looking towards the new mare out of the corner of his eye. He considered ignoring her- mares were the last thing he wanted to deal with at the moment- but even in his depression, he couldn't go back upon the ways his mother had taught him. With more than a little difficulty, he hoisted his head up and offered a sad smile towards her, nodding politely. "Hello, miss."

Death to Blondes
Seeing that he wasn't dangerous, Cynara trotted over to him. "Hiya," she nickered softly. Her brown mane shook as she felt a leave prickling at it, or was it the flower that had been in it earlier...ah well it was out now. Her brown muzzle smiled and then dropped. "What's the matter?" she asked curiously.

Kyaishi
"Nothing important..." that was a bit of a lie, but a harmless one, since this mare couldn't really do anything about it. He shook his head briefly, one ebon' ear twitching against the amethyst feather in his mane as he met her gaze. "Just a little heartsick... nothing that won't heal with time." That was true... well, except for the 'little' part. He would get through this, he reminded himself, it wasn't the end of the world because one mare chose someone else over him.

Death to Blondes
"I see," Cynara replied...she lied as well, she had never been in love so she didn't know what love sick was. Her gaze went to his, "Personally, I don't think time heals anything," she replied to him. "Time just moves, you heal yourself if you want to be..." she added. "Well, thats my personal oppinion anyways." her tail flickered, she wondered why he was heartsick but she wouldn't ask that would be very rude.

Kyaishi
He paused, shifting from one foot to another as he considered her words, then nodded slowly as another small, but this time genuine smile adorned his features. "That is true, I suppose... and it isn't the end of anything... perhaps I should just consider it a lesson learned." He nodded to the mare with a grateful look in his golden orbs, dipping his head in a slightly less energetic version of his dramatic bow. "My name is Shadow, please pardon my rudeness."

Death to Blondes
"You were not rude at all monsieur Shadow." she had picked up some of Erik's words. She knew what it meant, "Surely it could be that bad, that your attitude is completely in the dumps?" she asked. "My name is Cynara, daughter of Cyrus and Alona." she wondered what could make a stallion so strong break down so easily? She never wanted this to happen to her...

Kyaishi
"Well, it is a pleasure to meet you, miss Cynara." He nodded lightly, smiling a bit more enthusiastically as he shifted, feeling a little better. "Thank you for your kind words..." he paused at her question, letting out a soft sigh as he averted his gaze towards the distant horizon. "It is not something I'm proud of... I never intended to fall in love."

Death to Blondes
"Pleasure to meet you aswell," she bobbed her head slightly, she smiled as he smiled she felt so accomplished making a male smile when he had had a rough day. "It's nothing, hate to see someone so bummed down," her face dropped again as he talked about this little thing called love, "Sometimes fate doesn't let us choose." she replied softly and almost questioned herself, where were these words coming from she hadn't any idea what love was about but maybe internally she did...

"I imagine not... although it seems unfair, doesn't it? We should be able to choose who we love..." he sighed softly, shaking his head to rid himself of his self-pitying thoughts. He offered a sheepish smile to the ebony and auburn mare, dipping his head a bit in apology for his behavior. "I'm sorry, this must be irritating to listen to... feeling sorry for myself and dumping my problems on you."

"It's quite alright." she said smiling a bit as she noted he was caring about her feelings upon the subject. "I'm a good listener." she nodded again. She assumed she knew what happened and went with it for one of the same things had happened to her, "The one whom made you feel this sadness and sorrow, doesn't deserve you." she replied, "From just meeting you I can tell you have a gentle soul and whomever has torn it should be ashamed of themselves." she huffed remembering the male of the past...and that was it he was the past and she was in a new day she forgot him.

"You are an excellent listener, thank you, miss Cynara... but I'm not sure I can agree with that," he offered a somewhat subdued grin as he shook his head to her latter statement, golden eyes directed to look into the distant horizon as a wistful sigh escaped his lungs. "I can't blame her for not loving me... not any more than I can blame myself for loving her. The most I can do is be there for her when she needs me... assuming she even wants me there, that is," he cringed visibly at this, remembering that he had no right to be a part of the raising of her foals... not when the father was around.

He shook his head again, ebon' strands of his silken mane falling about his face as he turned to offer her another apologetic grin. "There I go again with the pity party. What about you? Were you unfortunate enough to get emotionally involved with another?"

"You have more spunk than I then." she replied. "You are a very loyal friend." she added, she chuckled slightly then turned on a more serious note. "Yes, I was. He left for another female and when I seen him with her I left back home and he never came back." she sighed as she left some parts out but she didn't want that much attention drawn to her.

His expression contorted into one of sympathy and self-disgust as he cursed his callousness, offering an apologetic expression as he lowered his head in silent askance of her forgiveness. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring up painful memories... for what it's worth, this stallion sounds like a dishonorable b*****d... I'm sure you'll find someone to care for and love you like you deserve, someday." A sincere smile, however small it was, adorned his coalen features, meant as comfort and reassurance to the kind mare that had eased his pain.

She smiled and laughed a bit, "It's alright, its in the past and you cant go back, the future is what lies ahead." It made her smile that he called him a b*****d. This one had a way with words it seemed. "Thanks," she replied to his wish upon her. "I wish for the same for you." She looked over at the lake and realized she was feeling quite parched.

"You are welcome, and thank you as well." He returned the smile heartily and paused to stretch his forelegs, noticing her preoccupation with the nearby lake and commenting on it. "Thirsty, are we?" A small, lopsided grin adorned his muzzle as he pawed at the ground anxiously. "Race you there?" Without waiting for an answer, he took off past her.
