So, it's the end of my first marking period of school right now, and I've been incredibly busy with college applications as well, not to mention numerous other school activities and scholarship work. And I just looked up at the time on my laptop not more than five minutes ago only to realize...

.....it's November.

Has anyone ever started several days late or finished several days early in previous years and actually managed it? Because I'm completely freaking out about this right now and I'm not sure how to get these 3,000 words in that I'm behind by without going crazy.... particularly because I've never managed to finish NaNo as it is. So any words of encouragement/insight right now are desperately needed. gonk

Yeah, sure. It took me three years before I actually finished NaNo, and if you don't finish it this year, it's not a big deal. The idea of NaNo is your own accomplishment, so if you really think you're too busy be a little more relaxed on NaNo and don't push yourself too strenuously if it's too much for you. =3

Your weekends will be a god-given-gift to you for this month, I'll promise you that. If you can't get all 3k done by the end of today (I doubt I could, I can barely get 2k a day if I try or am on a roll), don't fret it. Catch it up on the weekend. =) Just don't overload yourself with needing to write 10k on both Saturday and Sunday or things will pop up and you won't be able to do it. And, if you seem to be focusing too much on something like reading or Gaia or whatnot, and you're really determined to finish NaNo this year you can do what I've been doing for myself:

Tell yourself that you are not allowed to read a single word of a book (this can be translated for a bit of homework, or do this or that) until you complete your NaNo goal for the day. Or you could make it a compromise and say that you could do just a small amount (set that small amount up or I promise you'll get locked into it) before having to go do another set of NaNo words. Like for every 700 words you write you can do it or something.

But I only suggest that if you're extremely desperate to finish NaNo. ^^; Or you have free time like me. But hey, don't get me wrong either, I'm very busy! I'm attending college from 7AM to 3:15PM Monday through Thursday, and on top of that I work two jobs. I just find my little moments like between classes, before classes and whatnot to write in my notebook. I can type it all later, writing it out first is what counts.

I've never finished NaNo and this year I'm already about 6k behind. But like hiriyou said, don't stress over it; NaNo isn't the only thing in the world, and if you're honestly too busy to do it, don't fret. Just do what you can. Weekends are often the best time to catch up, I've noticed, though I suppose that would depend on your schedule. Unfortunately, I've got a lot of places to be this weekend, so I don't have a lot of time to do much writing.

Don't feel bad. I'm way, way behind (although I have started) because of some college issues. But I'm pretty sure that's out of the way and I'll be going smoothly again.

Like everyone else has said, weekends will be a savior for you. If you haven't already done this, you could also try taking a notebook to school and writing some in the mornings, at lunch, etc.

Guh. I've started panicking and I'm not even supposed to have started writing yet =/ The aim was to wait 'til after exams end before I start. I have 2468 words, and have a feeling I'll be stuck on that number for a loooong time.

It's day 6 and I'm at 0. I think my goal will be about 10,000. I work full time and go t school full time, (college) so I think I bit off more than I can chew... and my NaNo kit I ordered 2 weeks ago hasn't arrived.

I have five or six long chapters planned out in detail, but no actual writing as of yet. I keep changing the direction I want to go in, and I don't know how to start.

I think I will end up starting in the middle!! but my plot has a time lapse, so starting after the first time lapse seems plausible to me... Perhaps I'll get 1000 words done tonight... if I write quickly...

I'm way behind, too. Who isn't, at this point in the month? Eventually there'll be a day where magic happens and things just flow and you end up catching up in only three hours of mad typing.

I'm at 4,311 with no purpose to the story and I only had an idea what the plot was about four hours ago... stuff was just happening to Aurus... whose character is a little inconsistent... he's a master assassin and yet, he has suddenly managed to break a leg... though I only decided what he clothes looked like yesterday. sweatdrop
