You enter a spot where the dry, dusty ground and the summer-parched grass give away to a woods. The trees here have wrung themselves out of a hard ground littered with bones and stones- they hardly merit themselves as green or big enough to be "forest," rather, they are just overgrown shrubs, dry and scraggly as senile old men.

Scattered around in the dirt are artifacts here and there that still sigh of a world lost. Scraps of Shoshone beaded leather. Arrowheads here and there. A feather here, a scrap of rawhide there.

Strangely, the heat of the dry summer seems to slowly fade away as you walk in, like a blanket being slowly pulled off, leaving an even drier chill.

What's that? It's getting darker! Strangely, the muted light fluttering through the dapples of leaves ahead are not hindered nor do they dim, but somehow, here below the boughs and crowns, the harsh sunlight you took for granted can't quite seem to reach, as if there's a murky cloud hovering above.

There's a little pond in the center, probably either a rainfall clasp or a minor tributary of the wide river outside. A large rough boulder heaves out of the surface, the water rippes around it as if the stone were leaping to escape its watery prison. There's a waterfall at the far end, it trickles in an almost-menacing way. Plickplackplickplackplickplack................

The closer you get to the pond, the stronger the smell of earth, gunpowder, and brimestone (sulfur) is. At the edge, it's absolutely suffocating- there are screams, perhaps! Every rustle in the leaves is a scream, an agonized scream, of war, not human nor horse, but war!

It's dark now, and the air is sullen and still. Even the water sounds so oppressing. Silence muffles all sound except for the muted mad, agonized screaming of a woman.....

Or was that just an echo?

Hey, whaddaya know, it's a practical Emo Paradise!

((lol, I love that movie too!

Pollisand: O_o VHAT? *Kicks le Chatte*

le Chatte: crying OWWIES! *Kicks Pollisand back*))

"Ahhummm..." Pollisand muttered, watching the other horse warily, or as warily as he could without a head. "Oi believe that you've been seeking me? Vhy ees zat?" he asked. This foal was seriously stalking him. No youngster had that type of determination for casual purposes... This must be serious.

This is not:
Not so good...

Name: Pollisand Soldier
Nicknames: Pollisand, Soldier
Gender: Male
Type: Type without a head
Special Characterisitcs: HE AIN'T GOT A GODDAMN HEAD!
Strange Fetishes: He is a pumpkinophile, meaning he has a strange pumpkin fetish.
Stranger Phobias: ????

Smells like: Brimstone, gunpowder, and burning flesh
Feels like: Liquid glass. Too slippery.
Tastes like: Getting kicked in the face by a headless horse
Sounds like: Thundering hooves and screaming
Looks like: A horse without a head.
..Le Chat du Noir..

The distant thunder of unearthly hooves echoed across the grass, but no horse appeared. From the volume of the hoofbeats, the horse must have been very very large and heavy, but only a fine mist poured in...

((Note: This famous scene was copied from the 2001 adaption of the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" produced by R. Flemminger.)) The ground split open wide with a resounding crack of thunder. Night poured in, the moon a sickly green. All of a sudden, a sillhoutte appeared, and just as suddenly as it happened, everything, the special-effects night and the crack in the ground, vanished. Only the faint stench of brimstone and hell remained, lingering in the air.

That and a horse.

He was large, probably over 19 hands high and black as the hands of death. His ribs stuck out, and he had a diladilapitated sort of look to him, like a corpse. A ragged and torn cape hung about his shoulders, and a shining axe was strapped to his side. He seemed more human than horse... But most stunningly, he did not have a head. This monstrosity clipped over to the other horses.

Those that have met Pollisand Soldier are quickly made aware of his lack of a noggin right away. He sometimes bends what remains of his neck down, as if trying to look at them. The sight of his guts, splinted trachea and smashed esophogaus, as will as the remains of his frontal vertabrae strike horror and disgust into the hearts of many.

Get past that, and you're stuck with a grumpy old horse with a heavy German accent.

Pollisand Soldier has often been likened to an "Old Human Grandfather." Having died in the Revolutionary War of America, he is extremely fond of saying, "Vell, in oi daay..."

He is extremely upset about having died in a foreign land too. His spirit is trapped here, unable to return to his beloved Germany.

That's the power of the keyblade!

Past

"Step into the menacing vortex that seems extremely dangerous and all your wildest dreams will be granted!" the silver-haired man declared, wearing a fake mustache that made him look like Ansem in a fake mustache... But of course it wasn't him! Ansem didn't have a mustache of course!

"Well, I don't know about me... You just snatched me from around the corner and tied me up," Sora protested, wiggling in the bonds that had his arms tied behind his back.

"....Of course you want to! They're your wildest dreams!"

His eyes widened. "Seriously? You mean Riku will fall madly in love with me and my sexual orientation will be accepted without question among my friends?"

The guy-that-looked-like-Ansem-in-a-fake-mustache looked surprised but nodded. "Well... Yes! Yes, of course!"

"Okay!" Sora exclaimed and jumped into the vortex.

........What a dumbass.

About Dehee'ya Nai'bi
User Image
Name: Dehee'ya Nai'bi
Name Meaning: Horse Woman
Used Name: Nai'bi (Girl)
Gender: Female
Form: Ghost
Ethnicity: Western Shoshone Native American
Appearance: (See image.) She's a sixteen year old Shoshone girl. She grew her hair long as a mark of womanhood and wears her shawl (described in Posessions post.) There is a large gunshot wound through her forehead, point-blank. As a ghost, she seems real at times, especially when she replays her death, but most of the time she is grayscale and transparent.
Physical World: Contrary to popular opinion, ghosts can touch and interact with the material world, if only with some things, only the objects they had a bond to or are familiar with. Nai'bi' has mastered her form enough over more than a hundred years to be able to turn parts of her solid at time to interact with objects she has no relation to. Things like Shoshone artifacts however, she can easily touch. Nai'bi' is able to ride Pollisand. She cannot physically feel anything.
Birthdate: ????, 1852
Deathdate: January 29, 1863
Cause of death: Raped and shot through the head
Can be seen: -Drifting around at night, screaming for help.
-Riding Pollisand
-As a young woman who runs around, is assaulted by invisible attackers, screams, and disappears
Likes: Pollisand, ????
Dislikes: White people, war, violence

Dehee'ya Nai'bi, or Nai'bi as her family called her, rarely appears directly to humans. When she was violently murdered by US troops in 1863, her spirit could not rest or move on. Many of her tribe, including the chief Bear Hunter, could not either, but eventually, they all found rest and drifted to the Otherworld.

Not Nai'bi though. She could not ascend. Instead, she is trapped on the earthly world, constantly replaying her death to anyone who sees. She believes that all white people are injust thieves who are constantly seeking to torment the Shoshone. Especially when she watched the mustang roundups, and all "her" horses being torn away from each other and killed, her anger festered once more, beyond the point of cooling off.

Pollisand's History

User Image

Everyone's heard the story of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the infamous executioner, the Headless Horseman.

Pollisand Soldier was originally named Zuverlässig, or Faithful in German. He was the son of Schwarzer Tod, the sire, and Kleine Geliebte, his dam, foaled in Lastwagenburg Farm somewhere in the 1800's.

At age two, he was sold to the the German Calvary, where he endured a strict regiment of training.

His sire was about 17 hands tall. Pollisand Soldier however, was even larger, growing to about 19 hands. He endured the rigid training to the horses well, defeating his instinct to spook and run away and learning to stand fast in the face of an onrushing enemy. By three, he easily topped all the other horses in agility, courage (or stupidity), stamina, and size.

As the British Colonies in the Americas began to revolt, Frederick the II dispatched thousands of German troops to aid the British.

Pollisand Soldier was given to a currently unknown commander, the present day Headless Horseman.

The two made a dynamic duo. Never beofre that the young stallion named Zuverlässig experienced such gentle handling, such kind care. He was loyal and lived up to his name of Faithful, carrying his master out of danger time after time...

Until unexpectedly, in the Battle of Trenton, a cannon took out Pollisand's head and 3/4 of his entire neck. Contrary to legend, the Headless HorseMAN himself did not suffer the cannon attack. He escaped, but badly wounded, and fled into the woods, where two girls accidently gave him away to enemy troops. He was beheaded.

After the events of Sleepy Hollow took place, the Horseman supposedly rode to hell, taking Lady Tanasha with her. However, there is no "hell" as in that sense, no, the Horseman gained his peace with the world and disappeared, as all ghosts do, free of the mundane world.

Zuverlässig however....

The young stallion could not understand death, could not understand what kind of fate that befell him. He rose from where he was left as the Horseman ascended, and shaking off the last of his earthly life, gallops again to discover the world as it is.

Dehee'ya Nai'bi's History

The Shoshone are a Native American tribe that lived around the Great Basin and in the Great Plains. They were one of the Native tribes that captured the escaped Spanish horses and tamed them, creating an unbreakable bond between the tribe and the horse. They were among the greatest horsemen and women of all time.

Nai'bi's tribe was lead by the strongly anti-white-occupation Chief Bear Hunter. Her mother, Deheya Nukki, her father Weda Tsasidu'i, and her two sisters Naipittsi and Huittsuu Kasa lived the typical hunter-gathering lifestyle as the rest of the tribe, but often her father was called off to war parties. The war party would launch attack on the white men who invaded their territory and hunting grounds while the federal troops during the Civil War. One day when the braves attacked a group of railroad workers, Weda Tasasidu was killed.

She had always loved horses. Her mother often joked that she would probably marry one so that her children could be both human and horse. The day she was born, the raiders had bought back a large black Spanish stallion. She had a special knack for 'reading' them, knowing when one was lame, sick, or just plain unable to work.

Nai'bi was killed in the Bear River Massacre, where Colonel Patrick Conner lead an attack on her tribe's encampment, slaughtering all men, women, and children. The details of the attack are not PG-13 so they cannot be told of, but along with one hundred of her fellow tribespeople, Nai'bi was taken captive as she attempted to flee by swimming the river with her family. Her last memories of her people were seeing her family slaughtered before her eyes as she wailed futiley for help.

The prisoners were held and brutally treated at a Fort. Nai'bi, along with many of the young women and girls there were sexually harrassed and raped before either dying of sickness or shot to death.

She could never forgive. She could never forget.

Pollisand and Nai'bi

It was just meant to be, perhaps. Pollisand and Nai'bi died in the same month. Pollisand is a large black stallion like the one that was bought to the village when Nai'bi was born, and Nai'bi is a woman (although human) who understands Pollisand and is understood by him.

Nai'bi is still a bit uncomfortable at times around Pollisand because he is "a White Man's" horse, and Pollisand is not so cozy about Nai'bi's extreme hate. But those alone gravitate together, and sometimes Nai'bi can be seem riding Pollisand bareback. It's a strange sight, seeing a transparent spirit atop a headless horse, but hey, if it makes them happy....

Posessions
Pollisand's Stuff

His master's raggedy cape::
A fine, 18th century German-made Officer's Cape. Fine black wool. It fell from him as he fled to the woods, leaving Zuverlässig, now Pollisand Soldier, with only memories and the cloak. On that final ride, when he took Lady Tanasha as well as himself to Spiritual Peace, the cloak fell from him as he disappeared and only Pollisand's neck. He now wears it as a momento.

Shining Sharp Hachet German-made steel, pre-industrial revolution blade. From his former master. His executioner's axe is in miniature now, but still a forceful weapon nevertheless. It's strapped on his body with the remains of a leather band. No one has ever seen him use it, but leave no doubt, despite the lack of opposable thumbs, one could swear they heard it whistling through the air. Whereever Pollisand has slept, if there were any trees, they all have their branches lopped off.

Pumpkin:: Who knows? Whereever he appears, this creepy Jack-o-lantern with its shining red eyes does too...

Nai'bi's Stuff
Shawl: Her mother wove it. It was her coming-into-adulthood gift from her mother, a woman's shawl, symbolizing her maturity. It's red and orange-yellow with a beaded flower pattern. In her ghostly form, it fades at the edges and is torn up in places.
Gunshot hole through the head: It's not exactly a possession, but it's a characteristic that she gained by her death. The ectoplasm bullet is still there too, sometimes she absentmindedly scratches at it. It's on her forehead. Occasionally ghost-blood trickles out of it.

Relations:

Pollisand:

Sora: GET THAT FREAK AVAY FROM ME!!!! scream

Touka: This is one puzzle for me. She seems to have a problem feeling emotions somehow. Perhaps a phycological disorder? But I'm grateful, she's the only one that doesn't run screaming at the sight of my... Disability. She's colored like a pumpkin, and oh I do love pumpkins!

Aubana: An adorable little girl. She's a sweet little foal who seems to love to explore. She ran into Touka and me when she was running off from her Aunt.

Lita: She seems a tad bit.... Strange. I think that there's more than one horse over here....

Na'bai':

None. She hasn't met anyone aside from Pollisand.

Sora

Pollisand: He's real weird sometimes. He's kinda scary, really, I mean, without a head and all. Reminds me of someone.

Pollisand Quotes

..Le Chat du Noir..

"But Sir! Dribbling food out of your mouth.. And talking while you're eating... And stuff... Isn't it bad manners? My mom told me-" Sora began.

"Your muther vas a cow," Pollisand told him crisply, "And uneducated in the way of proper horses. Chew harder!"

Quote:

Pollisand gazed at the spot where Adam's head was. "...Children these days have no manners," he grumbled sadly. "Showing off their heads... Vearing hats, bridles, vhatnot.. Vhy, Sora is proof that posessing a head isn't the same as using one!" he sighed.

Quote:

"You children these days! 'Ou think that the vorld revolves around YOU!" On the word "you," a large sulfurous cloud of decaying gases belched out of the opening in Pollisand's throat. "In MY day, the sun revolved around the World, which vas flat and vas on the back of a giant tortoise!"

Quote:

"Yes.. Sir, don't we eat anything besides grass...?"

Pollisand nickered and trotted over to the younger horse. "Laddie, there are... Two types of creatures. Horses, and everything else. Vhat separates us from "everything else" is the fact that we eat grass-"

"But Sir, sheep eat grass too, and Kairi eats grass-"

"Shut your snout boy and chew that grass like a proper horse! There! No! Make it DRIBBLE out of your mouth like a respectable equine!"
