The sniper game has reached its tenth round, and in that time it has changed very little. It has moved from a thread to a guild, and added another murderer. Other than that it is pretty much the same ol' same ol'. So the question is, do you want more? Do you want the GMs to try new things, change the rules, alter the game from round to round, play with the numbers as well as the stories? What keeps you coming back? What would bring you back? What would renew your interest?
Thats what Ive been thinking about, is it enough to change writers every now and then and play the same game? or is it the game that needs to change a little every round? Im not saying the basics should be forgotten, but new layers added over the top and changed often.
What say you players?

Well. I don't think the game should be changed too completely, like you said. New layers, by all means, are fine with me.
Some ideas from this thread may end up in round ten, too. Just so you know. xD

Mori Bokusochi Well. I don't think the game should be changed too completely, like you said. New layers, by all means, are fine with me.
Some ideas from this thread may end up in round ten, too. Just so you know. xD Hence me not posting some of mine and X's variants. Which have reached a total of six or seven by last count. Plus 3 new positions that could be added to the normal game, as well as a new function that would make the game even more motivating. There is even a variant designed with over twenty assigned positions which would be fun to use, though it would be a bit much if it were just thrown in with no lead up as it is minorly complicating.

Let's see here... ... more killers, less help for the regular players. It's too easy as it is. Which is more the fault of the players than the gameplay... ... everyone's connected to everyone in some way. Which sucks for the gameplay. Oh! And a magical person who can decide who goes to jail in the event of a tie. And... and and and... ... damn. I forgot. xD

Get rid of the newsreporter and put the sniper's and CK's clues in the daily updates. That'll also get rid of false clues and excessive drama. 3nodding

More interaction between the Game and the users? Like events happening in the guild (drama, birthdays, suspiusions) having a effect on the gmae, or at least the update? Also, I like the idea of people dieing/being jailed without having a killer/voters doing it. Cause in real life you don't only die if your sniped... And another killer, or something to make it harder.

A second newsreporter would be neat. Either one who gets a real clue, or one who gets a false clue.
Toastie thinks that 20 people having roles is just too much. In some of our more recent games, the sniper game has only had about 70 odd people. With 20 of them having roles, there'd be only 50 of them without. That's nearly half of the list with a role. And half of the people who sign up forget about the game within a day anyway.
That's too many roles going to waste for Toastie's liking.
Anyway, we got a change. If jailball voting and twice as many g-team aren't enough, Toastie doesn't know what is. D:

I think random funny happenings in the guild being in the updates would be cool. Oh! And there could be hints, but some could be false, some true, all false, or all true, adding a new layer off suspicioun each round. ninja

Okay. Some assorted responses to things:
-False clues make things confusing. Confusion is essential, as annoying as it is, so...the clues are going to stay with the Newsreporter. -Right now, I'm thinking about changing around the G-Team and Newsreporter positions. Certain people will be able to do different things, and...one position may be replaced with another. -Jailball votings will also stay intact, although there may be slight tweaks. Not sure yet. -As much as I'd like to cover random happenings in the update, it's hard to cover everything...so some things may be included at random. xD

Im liking some of the things mentioned, and have come up with a few myself. Killing off people randomly is definately a no no, but thats what inactivity takes care of.
Usually people with the roles stick around, so more people with them should be a good idea, but it has to be done in a way where the other players dont feel left out. Another thing Ive been messing around with is setting up ways to "win." So far every game ends with a GCD-er win because a killer is never the last one left. So another way to win would have to be devised, which leads into scenario games, where each game has different rule set ups and different positions. Ill show you what I mean, after I figure out a way to display it.
I also think that appointing two people to lead a game could work as well, one as a writer and one as a director. The director gets pms with protections, kills, clues and whatever else, gives the writer everything in one email, and modifys the memberlist as neccesary. That would make GMing much easier. Just a thought.

Yes a few extra twists and turns in the game are great but you don't want to change the game so much to the point no one can understand what's going on anymore. :/

It's pretty stupid to give almost half the list a role and it's unfair.

I think they should follow the admins' approach and make changes every several months, otherwise the ideas will run dry pretty quickly and nobody will be interested anymore. So, periodically, yes, I'd like to see some interesting and unexpected twists in the game.
