Sister topic to the Homosexuality and Christianity thread. Anyway, at school the announcement person mentioned stuff about gay rights, specifically being allowed to marry, adopt, and be boy scout leaders. They said not to get personal or religious.
Now... how in the hell can you talk about gay marriage without bringing up religion?! Marriage is holy machremony and homosexuality is a huge topic about it. People have to accept that not every Christian will accept that. The Anglicans have, I think, since gay marriage is legal in England, which is primarily Anglical. Any child with Down Syndrome will know that gay marriage will have some religion mention in it.

I don't know how they expect people not to mix thing like politics and religion when, guess what? Our Constitution was founded on a Christian basis. And, contrary to what they're saying, it is not a 'living document', or any other stupid term like it. The Constitution says that marriage should be between a man and a woman, as God intended when he made us. I'm not saying that I dislike homosexuals and don't think that they could fall in love with a person of the same gender, but that's their choice. That doesn't mean that everyone else has to conform to their choices, and let them do whatever they want. There has to be some restrictions. You know what happens when there are no restrictions, anymore? Example: France. It's dying, because all they care about is the sex and lust. Not starting a family and having children.

I think the law of marriage should stay as it is. You don't have to marry someone just because you love them. And other countries have a law about gay marriage, so that's something to fall back on. Even heterosexual couples have restrictions, like with kids.
I agree, 'Kiri. France has terrible laws, worse than America (yes, I have laws that I gripe about here, who doesn't?).

I don't know if this is still on the Gay Marraiges topic, but there are things that marraige gaurentees that you can't have.
Legally, insurance covers you, your spouse, and your children. So a gay couple wouldn't have the same rights as a heterosexual couple who is married.
Also, the definition of marraige has been changed in the past. It used to be illegal for couples of mixed races to be married.
