All right then. Since we should make this about books, did you guys read any scary books you thought fit for the Halloween mood?

Nope. crying Although "The Rangers Apprantice" would have been good for that night.

Robert Bloch's Midnight Pleasures contained several Halloween-themed short stories. Although I liked the tale entitled "Die - Nasty" due to the frightening prospect that it could happen in the future when televised deaths and other executions will become fodder for the masses. We all know that reality TV is just one step away from becoming a Battle Royale. ninja Here's an excerpt from it that I found to be amusing:

"Meanwhile, of course, capital punishment was spreading. State laws against it were being repealed in the face of the increasing crime rate and the growing lack of prison facilities. Although billions had been spent to build new jails and penitentiaries, it was impossible to accommodate the great horde of murderers, forcible rapists of women and children, convicted politicians, and other major criminals."

Well, I thought it was a good idea to read Steven King's Pet Sematary but I wasn't able to start.

Well, I thought it was a good idea to read Steven King's Pet Sematary but I wasn't able to start.

You know, at one point I had the entire passage memorized which described Pascow's impending death. Although I don't remember all of it now, I still know how the first part of it goes. Pet Sematary was my favorite of his novels until I discovered Rose Madder.

Has anyone read Stephen King's latest Lisey's Story? I've heard mixed reviews about it.

Oooo. Blood and Chocolate and The Silver Kiss would have been good. They are by the same author.

I checked out a book of Celtic Fairy Tales, but I didn't really do anything with it. I was hoping to start a new tradition and read some aloud, but instead I read a couple to myself. Maybe next year.

I cannot deny it. I have become totally obsessed with Robert Bloch's writings. I look forward to receiving the collection of short stories that I asked my uncle for Christmas that is titled Flowers of the Moon and Other Lunacies.
