About Ina:

Name: Ina
Age: 18
Birthdate: August
Nation: Fire

Personality:

Likes:

Fire, Energy, Excitement, Boats, STORIES, Danger/Daredevilry, Exploring new areas, Finding things no-one else knows about

Dislikes:

Calm seas, boredom, long hours in the cabin, ice and cold weather (keeps you indoors a lot, and makes it harder for the boats), when the wind dies down

Hobbies:

Collecting stories, reading stories, writing down her stories on whatever scraps of paper she can find.

Exploring new territories, sometimes creating maps of said territories.

Sewing. Hey, everybody ought to know how to stitch!

Collecting -things-. She likes to have neat little trinkets and stuff. She pays for all of it that's not given to her for free (she's popular amongst store owners in a lot of towns, and they tend to give her some stuff sometimes) and she has a tendency to give it away after a while anyhow.

History:

(official)
This girl’s got her sea legs. Her large family (although her direct family consists of just her and her parents) owns a very nice little barge that any well-to-do merchant would choose as a good choice for transportation. They pick up customers all throughout the world and travel from one port to the next, so to some extent this little girl thinks she’s seen it all. And because of her travels and constant communication with many different people, she's very accepting of others no matter where they reside from.

Her parents are loving but often very busy with the barge, so for the most part they leave their 12-year-old daughter to her own devices. She's not a trouble maker by nature, luckily, beyond pestering passenagers into telling her stories, all of which she intently listens to, and her favorite being those that tell of places even she hasn't seen.

Money wise, she's of course stable. Her bending is very 'scattered', though, merely an above average level and mostly taught to her by passengers on the ship. It's believed she has amazing potential and could learn very quickly in a more 'classroom' setting with one teacher.

Firebending--

Fireballs-- Ina can create tiny fireballs above her fingertips. These are more for show than anything, though she could throw one and start a fire with it if she wanted and the object it hit was easy to light.

Fire Kinesis-- Ina can control fire wherever it comes from, and shape it into any form she wishes, though she can only use the amount given, not create more.

Fire Arrow-- Ina's particular favourite when it's necessary, Ina essentially shoots arrows made from flame with an imaginary bow.

Friends/Acquaintances:

Avani-- A real sweet girl. Maybe a friend at last? Who knows? I'll go where the wind may take me, but hopefully it'll take me to the Earth Kingdom a couple more times?

Lei--

Tu Jin-- An interesting girl. A little violent, though...

Rin-Ji-- Pretty cool guy. A little odd- seemed obsessed with Razuten, but that's okay. I'd like to see him again sometime, he seemed like he might be fun when he's not so worried.

Tsai Shen-- A fellow story collector! He's got some pretty neat ones, too. I'll have to remember his face so I can get some more from him the next time I see him.

Dao Rui-- is this girl crazy? I don't know, but I do like her, in a way. She's odd and a little scary at times, but I think I could get used to that easily enough.

Toshiro-- A sweet boy. Needs to loosen up some. Hopefully, I can help him with that.

Chao-Shi-- A bit of a charmer, but nice enough. We'll see.

Shen Ru--

Anyu--

"They met on top of the mountain that divided their two villages. The villages were enemies so they could not be together. But their love was strong and they found a way. The two lovers learned earthbending from the badger moles. They became the first earthbenders." Avani paused here, smiling knowingly to herself.

"They built elaborate tunnels so they could meet secretly. Anyone who tried to follow them would be lost forever in the labyrinth." Her voice changed her, sounding sad. "But one day the man didn’t come. He died in the war between their two villages."

Avani's eyes flashed. "Devastated, the woman unleashed a terrible display of her earthbending power. She could have destroyed them all. But instead she declared the war over. Both villages helped her build a new city where they would live together in peace. The woman’s name was Oma and the man’s name was Shu. The great city was named Omashu as a monument to their love."

The little bender's voice dropped to a soft whisper. "Love is brightest in the dark."

Oh, well," she began. "It was the first time I ever saw her. It was in the evening, I was on my way back from the market. When suddenly I hear this guy go, 'Who do you think you are?'--" She paused her story to make the appropriate expression, one that clearly taunted the stupid man. "--and then his friend goes, 'I think that's the Avatar.' Well, this first guy is really stupid, so he's like, 'No way that little woman is the Avatar! What're you doing away from your blocks of ice?' I'd have slugged that guy then and there if it were me."

Violence solved everything, in her opinion. Or nearly everything, at the very least. "Anyway, Kahamo tries to tell him to just settle down and that she'll pay for the apple that kid took. This guy--I think he was drunk--grunts and wobbles toward her like he's gonna start swinging. Suddenly this huge gust of air picks up and knocks him back into both his friends."

"A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand: 'TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.'

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one, who had been slapped, got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After the friend recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone: 'TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE.'

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, 'After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?'

The other friend replied: 'When someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.' "

"There was a frog that lived in a shallow well, and one day it called to a turtle that lived in the sea. 'I am so happy,' said the frog, 'when I go out I can jump all along the edge of my well, and when I come home I can rest in the holes in the wall of my well. If I jump in the water I can float on my belly, and when I walk the mud covers my feet. I look around at the worms and the crabs and the tadpoles and the fish, and none of them compare to me. I am the lord of my well, and my happiness is great.'" Rin-ji got into the rhythm of it, hearing his mother's voice in the back of his head reminding him of what came next.

"The frog then asked the turtle, 'Sir, won't you come and look at my place?' The turtle started to try and climb up to see the well, but he quickly tripped and fell. The frog was disappointed, but instead the turtle told the frog about his home in the sea." Rin-ji paused to take a sip of his water, thinking over the next part before he continued. "'Even a thousand miles cannot give you an idea of the sea's width, and even a thousand feet cannot give you an idea of its depth.' The turtle explained, 'In the time of the great floods, the waters in the sea did not grow, and during the terrible droughts, the waters in the sea did not shrink. The sea never changes no matter how much time passes and its level does not rise or fall with the rain. The greatest happiness is to live in the sea.'"
