"I want to be an adventurer, Mother!" I said to my Mom, in the whiniest voice i had.
"Absolutely not, Naeo! those barbarians are why Vana'diel is always in a state of war. Hiring outsiders to bid their doing, it's absurd! The Temple and Royal Knights can do everything just fine." Mom said, giving me a stern look. "Now clean your room, you know how your father gets when you have a mess in your room. Especially when he comes home from Ordelle's Cave with the Knights."
"Yes ma'am." Defeated, I sulked back into my room, to 'clean' the mess i had made in today's playtime.
"Don't forget to water the plants!" She shouted to me. "I don't want them dying again."

Now, my family were Residents of San d'Oria, the Elvaan Capital of Vana'diel. My Father, was respected military man, conducting exercises for whichever one of the groups did their training in the cliffs of La Theine Plateau, I never could remember. My mom, was a black haired Hume, beautiful in many ways, even the princes looked at her time to time, but quickly dismissed the thought, knowing she was taken. With my Father in the Militia, I always heard his stories. The waves of men sent into Ghelsba to slay Orcs, the Exercises in La Theine; Men climbing down cliffs, navigating corners. I've ever heard his stories of the form of battle called "Conflict" where two nations waged a planned Battle against each other. Through these stories, i shaped my wants to be an adventurer, but Mother and Father never approved, no matter how hard i tried. 'You will become a great shop keeper, or one the Guards in town, something that has pride in it! No son of mine will be one of those horrible persons who roam our towns.' my mom always repeated. now my Father, he was much more angry about it, grounding me at the mere mention of adventuring, or taking a belt, whichever was easier at the time.
So I kept my thoughts about them to myself, and just kept dreaming.

Few Years later, when i was 17. San d'Oria had kept first place in the Conquest for a few months, but one night, Jeuno announced that Windurst was taking it, and San d'Oria was becoming the second place for the month. As such, the little performance band that comes to town whenever San d'Oria was in first, started to pack up, that's when i made my move. I snuck into the performers caravan and hitched a ride to Windurst to start my life as an adventurer. With nothing but a couple grand in Gil on hand.

The Performers quickly arrived at Windurst, and again, I snuck through their ranks.
Windurst was much different from San d'Oria; the land was lush and green, with worn dirt paths as roads. Near the tent where the performers were based at, was a fountain.with flowing water, and fishermen catching their meals.
"Can you help me? I'm new to Windurst, I need to register myself as an Adventurer." I asked a nearby Mithra."Yes, you just need to goto Windurrrst Walls, therrre you'll need to go into Heavens Towerrr. inside the Clerrical Chamberrrs, there will be a tarutaru forrr you to rrregisterrr at."

Couple Hours later, and down to my last 50 gil, I finally become an adventurer. Deciding to walk around town, i near Windurst Waters.

Little did I know, my life would be changed in the Tavern near the cooking guild.
