"Where Kilah get all this stuff?" Noyama pondered to herself as she continued digging through the box. Good thing she couldn't read, or Kilah would be one grounded toddler.

If she was around, that is. And, obviously, Noyama had no doubt she would be again very soon. She trusted Gizmo, after all. The island had appointed him her 'guardian' themselves. She found it odd considering they seemed to want to throw her in a volcano the majority of the time, but...

"Hm?" Now, this was weird? A note? A braille note.

Outside, Sango sat on the stairs, sharpening the ends of Hiraikotsu with a dull look. This place was boring without Kilah, though she'd never admit it in court.

Twila was on the ground near her, clapping her hands together and babbling.

Mignon's breath was growing short as she neered Noyama's house. Tears pouring down her face, she started to scream.

"Lala! Lala!" She howled, running for the house. Spotting Sango, she skidded to a stop.

"Where's Lala?" She begged, eyes wide.

Well, s**t.

How did this stuff ALWAYS happen to her? Poor Sango. Not to mention she wasn't very good with kids. Er, well, kids younger than her anyway. What to do..what to do.. "Uh-"

"Mignon?" Noyama asked from the doorway. There house (er, hut), wasn't that big as it was, so you bet she heard screaming from inside Kilah's room. Things just couldn't go right for anyone this week.

First Kilah ran away then Mignon ran crying for someone who wasn't there. Ugh.

Sango was greatful for the interuption, and quickly gathered Twila in her arms before she hurried into the house.

"What wrong, Mignon?" Noyama asked, concerned.

"Mommy...." The girl whimpered, eyes big. "A mean man came by, and Mommy went to her room, and when she came out, she wasn't Mommy anymore! And she left with the mean man and... And.. And the mean man said if she didn't come, he'd kill unca Bob and Pito!" She ended with a howl. Hiccuping a few times, she looked around.

"Where's Lala...?" She asked again.

...Great.

Noyama wasn't one to lie. Doing so where she was from would get you killed, infact. But in the company of an already upset toddler asking for someone who'd run away days ago, what else COULD one do? "Kilah is, um, away."

Her expression became a bit sour as she glanced up at the sky, noticing the once-white clouds now a dark shade of grey. "Inside now, or rain will get you." She gestured with her hand, holding the door open.

"Okay." She nodded, following her in. She blinked up a few times at Noyama.

"She goes away a lot, doesn't she...? Silly... Silly Kilah."

Poor Noya almost winced. Instead, though, she just nodded her head. "Yes, a lot. Like very much, um, exploring." Damn poor English.

Not surprisingly, she hadn't thought past getting Mignon indoors before the rain came down on them. She hesitated a moment before leading her to Kilah's room. "Kilah left something for you."

"That's good. If she likes it, then she's happy." Mignon sighed and smiled up at Noya. "It's good for Kilah to be happy."

"She left something for me? What?"

"Yes, very good," Noyama agreed almost automatically. Honestly, she couldn't remember a time she'd seen Kilah 'happy. In general she was just angry, though on occassions she'd listen to those movies with a lot of screaming that seemed to amuse her.

"Um, letter, but in braille." As if it wasn't annoying enough having such poor English, Kilah read and wrote in a whole different language. Good thing they had Lucky around or the house would fall apart. "Get Lucky to read you?"
PostPosted: Tue Jun 07, 2005 11:19 pm

"Braile..?" Mignon frowned. "I tried to learn it, but it's too hard." She nodded. "Where's Lucky? I'll ask her!"

Mignon wonder what Kilah would write. It would have to be something good, 'cause Kilah was smart.

Where was Lucky? That was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. She was sneaking around nearby, Noyama was sure, but she never seemed to make herself visible to just anyone unless summoned somehow.

She figured just yelling would work. "Lucky!" And it did, soon enough the fox-eared redhead was peering into the room. Her expression was a bit annoyed until she caught sight of Mignon, then she just seemed curious. "What cha need, Noya?" Likely the only one in the household to call her that as opposed to 'Yama'.

Handing her said 'letter', Noyama muttered something to her and then left the room. Rolling her eyes, Lucky moved swiftly over to Mignon and sat carelessly on the floor. "Alright, let's see. Want me to read this, is it?"
PostPosted: Tue Jun 07, 2005 11:33 pm

Mignon nearly glomped Lucky, but settled for hugging her arm the last moment. She didn't think Lucky would eat her or anything, but she didn't want to make her mad.

"Yes, please!" She said, peering up.

But Lucky wasn't the kind to lose her temper. Not with a kid, anyway, she probably would've hauled off and killed anyone else. Despite rumors, Lucky did infact like children, but...she just wasn't good with them. At all.

It may or may not have been a good thing she was the only one able to translate Kilah's note. Noyama was likely to lie or change words around, but not Lucky. Because she never lied. If it made someone cry, too bad. Truth hurts, she'd tell you.

"Let's see..." Mind you, Kilah didn't write nearly as well as she was about to make it seem, but Lucky corrected all the errors herself as she went.

"Don't worry about me, and don't cry about it, it's disgusting. I'm going somewhere, but I can't tell you where because I don't want anyone looking for me. Watch all the birds for me. Oh, and Lyrus, too. If anyone messes with you, I'll take care of them when I get back. See you."
PostPosted: Tue Jun 07, 2005 11:56 pm

Mignon blinked up at Lucky. "She's so... So silly." She let out a sniffle, but tried to hold back the tears, not wanting to make Kilah unhappy.

"She better come back. Or I'll have to hate her for leaving me." She looked upa t Lucky and punched one fist into her hand. "And I'll watch over everyone. No one'll hurt the birdies while I'm on watch!"

At least now she had something to occupy her mind with. If she just focused on doing what Kilah told her to, she wouldn't worry about anything.

Oh, sweet Lord, don't let her cry. That was about the only thing running through her mind. This was her best friend? Lucky had to wonder how THAT happened. But she was thankfully at the same time, because the nicer friends she had were probably the only thing standing between Kilah and gunning down people at age ten.

There was something about Lucky. Just something that made you believe every word she said. Maybe it was because she never lied? "Oh, she'll be back, she always comes back. So, what's the deal? You seem upset about something other than your friend being gone."

Okay, so she was asking for it as far as the water works went, but Lucky was the curious type, so she'd get over it.
