I live in New Mexico, and participating in All-State is a large thing for me. Last year, I was a Concert Orchestra 1st, and this year, I'm a Symphony Orchestra 2nd. I really wanted to be a symphony 1st, but I guess I'll have to wait until next year. I really enjoyed last year. I went down to Albuquerque for the audition, then in January, I went there again, and we practiced very intensely for two days, then put on a performance. I had so much fun! So, I'm curious to see who participates in All-State, if it exists in every state or not, and how the competition is, and of course, if you like it!

i auditioned for all state (i live in ny) but i didn't really make it. i'm an alternate, so i get a nice certificat that says congratulations on doing really well, you're an alternat, but i don't get to go unless someone else decides not to. i don't even get music. it's really hard to get in though, i got a 100 on my level 6 solo (highest level) and still didn't get in.

wow...all-state in ny sounds really difficult to get into. I guess New Mexico is a bit behind the game then. But, that's good for me, because I got in!...sadly, I haven't started practicing my music...
by the way, what was your solo?

We have an all-state orchestra (I live in Texas). I haven't auditioned for it, but I did audition for region. Maybe I'll audition for all-state this year...
