Basic info about iguanas: The green iguana (Iguana iguana) is a large, arboreal lizard from Central and South America. The green iguana is found over a large geographic area, from Mexico to southern Brazil and Paraguay, as well as on the Caribbean Islands. They are typically about 2 metres in length from head to tail and can weigh up to 5 kg. It is possible to determine the sex of a green iguana by examining the underside of the hind legs. Males have highly developed pores in this area that secrete scent, and are often covered in a waxy substance. In addition, the spiny scales that run along an iguana's back are noticeably longer and thicker in males than they are in females. Green iguanas are diurnal and strictly herbivorous, feeding on leaves, flowers, fruit, and growing shoots (although the young were once thought to eat insects, this has been proven false), and can be found living in trees and near water, into which they will dive if frightened. Agile climbers, they can fall up to 40 feet without being injured, and can run quickly despite their clumsy appearance. Because of their popularity in the pet trade and as food in Latin American countries, green iguanas are listed on the CITES Appendix II, which means they are considered a threatened species. When threatened by a potential predator, green iguanas will do a number of things. First and foremost, they will flee. If near a water source, they will dive into the water and swim off. Secondly, they will display the dewlap under their head, puff up their bodies, and display elaborate head-bobbing to the perceived threat. Finally, if all else fails, they will deliver a bite or lash its tail to the threatening creature. In the case of humans, a bite from an adult iguana can mean a trip to a hospital for stitches.

Did he just ask if you were his brother? What are you going to do? You should be quick though, your crew mate's eyes are filled with bloodlust and he might kill the people before you can even think of what the man said!
"Why should I?" the other pirate growled back.
"I have unfinished business with these people."
His crewmate looked at the family huddling in a corner, and then at Jasper. He could see the angry glint in the usually calm iguana's eye, and decided that it would be better if he let him deal with them. "Fine," he remarked, "I'll wait outside until you're done. If you need me, call me." He turned and stalked out, leaving the iguana alone with the family.
"Are you my baby brother, my Mikan?" the man continued.
The iguana's eyes glinted in a strange sort of recognition. "No," he snarled, "my brother is dead, my family is dead, I am dead. I am no longer your Mikan, elder brother." He watched as the family's expressions went first to confusion, and then to disbelief.
"What happened to you, Mikan? What happened to my sweet little brother?"
"You left me," he snarled, "you abandoned me for dead. So now, Mikan is dead. I am Jasper now, and I have no family." He fingered his pistol. "Will you join us?"
"And if I don't."
"I'm a pirate, brother, we are not known for our mercy."
"But they die either way." He thought for a few minutes, while his family huddled in the corner, clearly too scared to move. "I would never be a pirate. Not if it meant I would lose my family."
"Pity," Jasper said, clearly not surprised by his brother's choice. He looked over at the family. He smirked as he decided who the first victim would be. "Do you have a preference on who I kill first?" He didn't wait for his brother to answer and shot the youngest child, a girl who looked about three. "Sure, you won't change your mind?"
"Never, you monster! You can not be my brother; you must be an imposter." Jasper watched the mother begin to weep over the babe. He was half tempted to kill her first, just so he wouldn't have to listen to her, but even he wasn't cruel enough to make children watch their parent's die. He shot the two other girls, twins of about 7 by the look of them with a slight smile. "You killed him, didn't you? You killed my little brother, just like you're killing my family!"
Jasper laughed. "I grow tired of your whining. I offer you another chance to join us and live. It is not so bad to be a pirate, I do not know why anyone would choose death over freedom."
"My life was here, my life was my family. I will not live without them," he answered, moving in front of his wife and the bodies of his children. "I will not permit you to harm her."
"Permit?" Jasper said, in slight disbelief. "You cannot stop me, in fact you should be thanking me. I have no taste for women, but, the majority of them would find your wife quite the tasty morsel. I could always call Akhnan back, I'm sure he wouldn't mind ravishing her."
"You b*****d, " his brother yelled, and, momentarily letting his anger get the better of him, lunged at his brother. "I'll kill you!"
Jasper moved slightly to the left, and shot the weeping woman. He supposed he should feel some sort of regret towards killing his brother's family, but he couldn't. He couldn't bring himself to be more than the cold blooded creature that he had been intertwined with.
His brother paused, as the gunshot registered in his mind. He fell to the floor, all thoughts of attacking his brother gone. "Why?" he cried out, tears pouring silently down his face. "Why?"
Jasper kneeled down next to him, whispering into his ear, "Because, Mikal, I loved you." He pressed the pistol to a point that he knew would kill his brother almost instantly and pulled the trigger. “Because you were my brother,” he continued, as he was splattered with his brother's blood. He stood up and walked out of the house, more solemn that any of his crewmates had ever seen him. "The man resisted joining us." he told Akhnan. "I need you to raid the house for valuables. I doubt they have anything, but I couldn't stay a moment longer around such trash."
The other pirate nodded. "The first mate came by. We have orders to return to the ship. We will set sail as soon as everyone returns to the ship." He turned and entered the house, coming out a moment later with a bag of coins. "This is everything."
"Alright," he answered. "Head back to the ship. I'll catch up in a moment." His crewmate nodded and left, leaving Jasper standing in front of the house. "I'm sorry, but it was the only way I could insure your family a quick death." he said softly, hoping that his brother's spirit would hear him, before lighting the house on fire. He stayed there for a few moments, staring at the flames beginning to devour the house, before turning and heading back to the ship.
