This is the link I mentioned a while ago, about how it sucks to be a female comic character - I discovered it last night through a Birds of Prey slash site, sounds odd, but the article is written by Gail Simone, BOP write, and my favourite comic writer after Neil Gaimon! http://www.unheardtaunts.com/wir/There you go, so, enjoy and discuss

Yeah, thats what I thought, it's pretty shocking. I know bad stuff happens to the men in comics too, but I do think Simone has a bit of a point.

See thats the problem of the times we live in I mean in the comic book world we still depicted the women as secand class and thats just not right.

That list is pretty old and not that accurate. For example: Batwoman's a part of 52, not dead. Elastigirl is a part of the current Doom Patrol. Raven: Currently alive and good. Yes Women get hurt in comics. Everyone gets hurt in comics. Especially if they're a non-powered loved one. The list makes a point of the women but just happens to skip over all the men that have crappy s**t happen to them. You want to say "Raven (sometimes evil, sometimes dead)" Then look at her male teammates too like, for example, Jericho who is also sometimes evil and sometimes dead.

Mmmm, one of the problems with comics is that anything that isnt really up to date can seem so, so old- what with people coming back from the dead, and stuff all the time

I agree with the fact that women get picked on, but I also feel bad for the guys. I mean, Barry Allen was very important. Without him, we wouldn't even have Wally, would we?
So for those who pick on just one or the other, say hallo to my leetle friend...

Yes, but the way they put Alex in Kyle Rayner's freezer is way over the top. In fact, look at how they killed Elastic-Man's wife, that is pretty horrible. While when they killed Barry or 'Captain Atom' they did it with style and honor. When the 'normal' women get killed, they get really brutal and heartless deaths.

Yes but their Secondary characters thats why. I mean look at Pre-crisis Supergirl she had a heroic death.

I agree, that the Pre-crisis Supergirl had a heroic death, but afterwards the Crisis erased her from reality. But they ddin't do the same for the Japanese hero Sunburst, who was lesser known than she was.

Gunshot. Dying while giving birth. Any of these would have been better instead of being chopped up and stuffed in a fridge or have someone pop up in your brain. When the writers want to get rid of a 'normal' girl, why not do it in a 'common' way? But nooo, they have to do something really weird and nasty (chopped up & shoved in the fridge).
