Are there any other series you'd recommend as an Anita Blake Reader? Some that are somewhat involved in the vampires or anything in that genre? Or in modern times, with magic involved?

I'd personally Recommend Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison, Dime Store Magic by Kelly Armstrong..then the series by Tanya Huff..and The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher..

I hope this thread hasn't been done before.. sweatdrop

A really good author is Mercedes Lackey. She has a vampire book called Children of the night that I just read... it's good. But her Valdemar series is her best work.

I still like Laurell K. Hamilton's writing better though heart

I love Dead Witch Walking!!! I just finished Minion by L.A.Banks and have just started the second book in that series, The Awakening. They are very good so far. I bought the book Bitten by Kelley Armstrong, but haven't read it yet. You mentioned Dime Store Magic by her, is it good? Is it related to Bitten at all?

I want Awakening, i read Minon i didn't know the second was out yet *writes it down on her to get list* Yes. Dime Store Magic is kind of related, i just now picked up bitten and am into the second chapter. She's got a completely different writing style, she writes in present tense..its different. But the characters are different, but the one in Dime Store and Bitten know each other..so far in Bitten the main char hasn't met the Witch in Dime store...

Ages back I read a couple of good books that I haven't ever seen again...

Silver Kiss
Blood and Chocolate
Both by Annette Curtis Klaus.

Silver Kiss is a vampire book. It was quite good actually but I didn't enjoy it as much as...
Blood and Chocolate is the werewolf book. Very good, or at least I thought so.

I read a great series called "The Last Vampire" by Christopher Pike. I think there are six books in the series. This one has plenty of action and has a woman vampire with an attitude (like Anita). I think you'd like this book if you like the Anita Blake books.

Ooooh! I think someone suggested that I read that before... now I'll have to be sure to look for it! heart

Not only is Awakening out, but so is the #3 in the series called The Hunted. There is also a #4 that is called The Bitten, but it hasn't been released yet. It should be out in February.

She wrote 3 books total. And Blood and Chocolate was better than Silver Kiss, I agree. But Alien Secrets is her best work. It's SciFi tho... obviously. I own all three. ^.^

I know of another really good vamp series.... but for the life of me I can't think of the name of it.... bah.... It's kinda annoying. It was a series... thin lil books... vamp books.... Gah! I hate brain farts...

These books are so good. I'm almost enjoying them more than Anita Blake right now, they're so fun. Sookie is the best ever.
The books Undead and Unwed, and Undead and Unemployed are also surprisingly good, I wasn't expecting to like them at all, but super fun even though you find them in the Romance section.

Try The Shadow Saga, by Christopher Golden. There are currently four books in the series. The concept is really awesome.

Of Saints and Shadows
Angel Souls and Devil Hearts
Of Masques and Martyrs
The Gathering Dark

Having an open mind is necessary...but then again, if you're reading Laurell K. Hamilton you should already have one!

Lost Souls is a vampire book (To my knowledge).....with alot of sex....(again to my knowledge).

Not too Anita-ish but somebody mayu like them.

But, erm, it's all gay boys I think, and the father and the son are shagging. So it's got some incest o_o;
