Welcome to what will become a Guide to Magical Melody! I'm going to put alot of work into this Guide and I hope it will help answer some of your questions about the game. This topic is locked, since it's not for discussion purposes. Please see the actual Magical Melody Sticky for discussion.
2/ / 12 / 07: I'm finally going to start working on this and possibly a DS guide. Please check back later!

Getting Started
Picking your Land
So, the easy part is over. You picked you gender. Now, you need to pick a plot of land. That's right, you actually get to pick your land rather then get stuck with your ancient family land. So, now the big question: Which one to choose? Let's start with a brief description of the three.
Village Center: Located in the middle of town, this plot of land is close to the Spring Mine, Blue Sky Ranch, Junk Shop, and Town Plaza. However, the plot of land is small, to start out with, but lots of ajoining pieces to purchase. Don't forget you can also plant on "green" land so you don't own, so that may help your decision.
River Side: River Side sounds just like it's called, it's by the River! That makes this land convienient for fishing, but it too is also small. It's located near Blue Sky Ranch and The land is okay, but not the best. There's also no room to expand next to it.
Ocean Side: Again, this is easy to see. This land is down by the Ocean. It's also very large, however, the land isn't very fertile, so crops will grow poorly here. But plenty of room for live stock. You're near by the Lake, Blacksmith, Woodcutters, and the Vegetable Farm.
So the choice really lies in your style of game play. Me personally? I went for Village Center! Since I don't rush into animals at first, and mainly grow crops, it worked out since I didn't have to own the extra land to plant on it. Once I had the money I bought the extra land and was able to fit a chicken coop, barn, paddock, and windmill plus plenty of room for crops~ One of each Fall Vegetable, in fact. Plus, the land down by the river, just south of my land, is great for trees!

Crops
There are plenty of crops to grow in Magical Melody, so get ready for lots of harvetsing! There's regular crops, re-growable crops, flowers, herbs, trees, and grass in this game. So let's break it down by type and how to care for and then let's get into them individually by season.

Fishing
Fishing is one of the best ways to make money early on. In this version, fishing is also very easy and is not based on luck. You can actually see the fish in the water and they spawn at the same spot over and over again! At the beginning you start out with a free fishing pole, so you don't even have to pay anything or do anything to get it.

Foraging
Like in many other Harvest Moons, you can forage in this one! The best spots to go looking are up in the mountains and down by the sea. There are things you can find all year round or in just one season and they make great gifts or can even regain your precious stamina.
