I think it happens in the new series. If you look carefully at the new ending, when Naruto's running, it changes from his outfit after the timeskip to his outfit before the timeskip. I watched that section at least 5 times and paused it. Yes I am sad...

I do love the manga, but I'm too lazy to read it... I thought the timeskip eps would start soon but maybe not neutral You're the opposite to me, I love the manga and is too lazy to watch the anime xd I might start to watch it when the timeskip eps comes though 3nodding
