Name: Elke (pronounced EL-ku) Behind the name: Noble, kind. Nickname(s): Elle, Ellie, Kuu. Gender: Female Sweet: Pumpkin layered cheesecake. Appearance: Elke is looks like a doll...literally. With a body that will always be vertically challegend, her skin is smooth and pale, cheeks always dappled with light orange freckles. Her eyes, a dark honey-like brown, are round and full of emotion and usually give away what ever thoughts she may be harvesting at the time. Her hair cascades like a smooth flowing river down her back, ringlets forming at the ends while its color goes from a pale cream/almost white at the top, and then blends to a ripe pumpking orange, and then a darker, pumpking pie color at the ends.
The girl likes to wear dresses and skirts, but only if they have and insane amount of layers to them. It can be lace, more fabric, tule, or even all of those combined; it all works. She prefers and shades or orange, browns, whites, creams, etc., but will wear another color is forced/persuaded...except purple, that is. But despite the fact that her dresses, shoes, stocking, or anything else might change, she always wears a simple orange ribbon around her neck; tied in a simle knot and the extra amount of ribbon in the front of her neck, never behind. Personality: A calm, but giggly sort of girl, Elke finds it easy to talk to and interact with others. She has the habit of asking a lot of questions, and perhaps talking a little too much if the conversation hits a point of interest for her. Some might think she's nosey, or perhaps annoying, but if one were to just listen, they may perhaps learn something.
Elke is also one to give gifts... a lot. It doesn't matter how well she knows someone, but if she's said "hi" at least once, that someone might get something. It may be a picture, a card, a sea shell, a small food item, a bracelet, anything at all, really. However, beware, hurt the people she cares about, and one might end up with a fowl stomach-ache.

Intro~Navigation~Sweetest thing~Recipe~Pictures~Guardian~Funds~What's been written~Credits. The Cheesecake
A cheesecake is a sweet, cheese-based dessert.
Cheesecake is one of the most common desserts in the world and perhaps one of the oldest involving dairy other than milk. The first recorded mention of cheesecake was during the ancient Grecian Olympic games in the occidental world. Cato the Elder wrote of cheesecake preparation in his farming manual "De Agri Cultura".
Cheesecakes can be made of ricotta cheese, havarti, quark, twaróg, or, more usually, cream cheese. Other ingredients such as sugar, eggs, cream and fruit are often mixed in as well. Flavorings such as vanilla or chocolate may be added, and a fruit topping, like strawberries, is frequently added. Typically, the cheese filling or topping covers a crust, which may be pastry, cookie, digestive biscuit or graham cracker-crumb. Sometimes the base is a layer of cake.
Contrary to what its name suggests, cheesecakes are actually more like custards and are required to be baked at lower temperatures. A common difficulty with baking cheesecakes is its tendency to "crack" when cooled. This is due to the coagulation of the beaten eggs in its batter. There are various methods to prevent this. One method is to bake the cake in a hot water bath to ensure even heating. Alternatively, a little cornstarch blended into the batter prevents the coagulation of eggs.
In the UK, cheesecakes are generally a cold dessert which is not cooked nor baked. It is made with crumbled digestive biscuits mixed with butter and pressed into a dish to form a base layer. The topping or filling is a mixture of milk, sugar, cheese, cream and gelatin. Cheesecake Enlarge Cheesecake
The word cheesecake is also used to describe the creamy, cheesy flavor of the cake. In this usage, there are cheesecake yogurts, ice creams, brownies, and cookies.
There are also savory cheesecakes, often flavored with blue cheese and served as hors d'oeuvres or accompanying salads.

The 3.14 (*bricked for silly pun*).
Pumpkin pie is a traditional North American dessert usually made in the late fall and early winter, especially for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
The pie consists of a squash-based custard, ranging in color from orange to brown, baked in a single pie shell, rarely with a top crust. Contrary to popular belief, traditional jack-o'-lantern-type pumpkins make coarsely textured pies. The pie is generally flavored with nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and ginger and is traditionally served with whipped cream, although in parts of Canada it is commonly served with maple syrup instead.
In the USA, this pie is normally made from canned pumpkin or canned pumpkin pie filling (spices including pumpkin all spice); this is a seasonal product available in bakeries and grocery stores. In other countries it is normally made from scratch from whole pumpkins.
The holiday carol "There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays" makes a reference to homemade pumpkin pie being looked forward to by a man returning to his family's home in Pennsylvania.
Pumpkin pie is regarded in North America as a seasonal treat, and many companies produce seasonal pumpkin pie flavored products such as ice cream. X
The recipe
Ingredients: ***Filling*** 2 packages (8 oz size) cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup Splenda 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 2 eggs 1/2 cup canned pumpkin 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 dash each ground cloves and nutmeg (or pumpkin pie spice) ***Crust*** 1 1/2 cup chopped pecans 3 tablespoons butter 1 teaspoon Splenda
Directions:
Making the Crust: Melt the butter and mix it with the Splenda and chopped pecans. Press the mixture into a 9 inch pie pan. I pressed it into the bottom and as far up the sides as I could. Bake the crust in a 350 degree oven for about 8-9 minutes.
Making the Filling: Mix softened cream cheese, Splenda, and vanilla until well blended. Add eggs and mix until smooth.
Set aside 1 cup of the batter, spoon the rest of the batter into the crust. (Be careful not to "disturb" the pecans too much!)
Mix the pumpkin, spices and 1 cup of batter together, spread on top of the plain batter (there's where you get your pumpkin layer.)
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35 - 40 minutes until the center is almost set. Cool, and refrigerate for at least 3 hours. =

Intro~Navigation~Sweetest thing~Recipe~Pictures~Guardian~Funds~What's been written~Credits. Name: Adeline Rozlin Royes. Age: 22/23 Gender: Female Appearance: [X][X] Personality: Adeline is some-what complex. She truely is a sweet person, but rarely will she allow herself to talk or interact with others after only a few minutes. She fears bonds, like friendships/relationships, because she doesn't want to hurt others with her problems and her disease. Because of this, she probably gives the notion that she's jumpy, overly nervous, or just plain ol' rude.
She's also hypocritical, but then again, who isn't? She curses what ever higher being there may be for her condition and lack of friends and such, yet she is the one who (while she may not have been the cause for her disease) decided to greatly distance herself from others.
All of this, though, doesn't mean she lives the life of a hermit and sits around the house all day grumbling at people on her lawn and how the world sucks. She goes outside often, interacts with the general populace in some way, and works at a small cafe every other day. Brief past: Adelines past in a nutshell: Born in Las Vegas to a crack whore, literally, she was diagnosed with HIV the second she was "created". Her mother surprisingly raised her until she was around five when her mother was arrested for drug possesion and intent to sell.
From there she was put in foster care and actually lived a pretty happy and normal life, unaware of the evil that ran through her body. Around age seven she began to learn how to play the piano and became quite a little prodigy at it. She had friends and loving parents, good grades, and everything was going grand...until the day when she was fourteen.
That was when she found out she had HIV and that was when she just began to distance herself fom everyone. She stopped talking to her friends and rarely interacted with her parents. She did continue to play piano, however, and soon took up violin, which, suprise suprise, she was good at as well.
At around seventeen she ran away and found the Town of Marcelles. She got a job at the same cafe she works at now and put herself up for hire as a musician for art shows/galleries, weddings, anything really. And with her range of musical abilities, which come to also include guitar, she gets by. Notes: + Has advanced HIV. + Plays guitar, piano, and violin, but also wants to learn the drums. + She fears relationships of any kind. + Collects guitar-picks.

Prompt/contest/FS/etc. responses.
FS#1 Response:
I knew this day would come; I knew that I’d feel this pain again. It hurts, and I can still feel my heart tearing a little more as the words continue to ring in my ears, but what hurts the most is that it’s not the final step; there is one more thing I’ll have hear that’ll make my soul fully rip in two.
Weary feet could no longer drag the preoccupied woman any further. Without realizing it, Adeline let her body move her to the side of an old, rustic house and slid her back down its wall. As her bottom hit the pavement of the slanted, up-hill sidewalk, an audible sigh escaped her lips.
The large, canvas bag that hung over one shoulder was placed between her legs. Separating it by the handles, she gazed sadly at a few of its contents. Down at the bottom, in-between two folders that contained piano and violin sheet music, sat newly filled, plastic, orange prescription bottles. Their labels, the simple pieces of paper that held her name, caused a new wave of emotion to unfurl in her body.
These things aren’t even new to me…their contents have already been put through my body at one time or another… all except these... She lifted out a bottle and held it at eye-level, the blue pills rattling lightly as she tilted it to the side. Her sky-blue eyes, red around the edges from recent tears, expressed what could perhaps be called hate. She hated these pills, all of them, but these ones, the ones in her hand, were now a newer reminder of the devil that ran rampant in her body…
The bottle was thrown back into the bag with a clatter. Leaning her head back against the old wall, she gazed out across the narrow street. Trying to get her mind off of things, which she already knew would be futile, she looked at the peeling paint, the old, lace draped windows with sun warped window panes, and the dried vines that crawled across white lattice attached to the homes across the way. Cracked leaves of orange and gold stirred and dragged across the pavement, their noises seemingly loud and echoing in Adeline’s mind.
I remember that day, the day when I learned about the HIV virus that was eating away at my body. My foster mother was crying and my foster dad was standing in silence with the phone still to his ear, its dial tone beeping in a monotonous tone. I stood in a dumbstruck trance in the doorway... Something broke inside of me that day; something snapped… Adeline grabbed her bag and rose to her feet, continuing up the hill with arms folded over her chest… I became distant to the ones I loved; I began to not speak to the people who acted as my parents and I soon abandoned my friends, left them to wonder helplessly where I had gone… I didn’t want to have any more bonds with people; I didn’t want them to hurt like I did, to feel and deal with the pain that I did. It was, and still is, my battle and it is a battle I had decided when I was fourteen to fight alone, even though I already knew I couldn’t, and never will be able to, beat it.
Adeline stopped and looked up from the ground, tears were streaming from her eyes and down her cheeks. Blue eyes stared up at the pink, orange, and golden-lit sky in a confused defiance. “And now the devil inside me has grown, and soon it will become the full-blown AIDS and shoot my body to hell! My life has been ruined because of it; I have no friends, I have no loved ones to ask me how my day went when I come home or comfort me when I’m sad, I have nothing! I sit alone, in my own little world, because I don’t want to hurt anyone with my problems… Problems I didn’t even create.” She was yelling now, up at the sky, but to whom, she did not know… It didn’t matter.
Soon her words just cut off into a sob-choked gasp and she stamped her foot on the ground like a child in frustration. With the sleeve of her jacket, she wiped her eyes and face, though the tears continued to flow and blur her vision.
Adeline stood still for many minutes, so long that the sun had almost faded from the sky completely. Wiping her eyes again, she finally took the time to notice where her feet had carried her.
It was some place new, never before seen by her eyes. She was standing at the top of a hill. Houses and older buildings still surrounded her, but their windows were dark and cold…vacant and mistrusting… except for one building. It sat just a ways ahead of her, and in its windows shone a warm, welcoming, golden light. It shined like a beacon; a ray of hope and a path out of the darkness that consumed her like a thick fog.
Like a moth, she let her body be drawn to it. Grasping the door, her fingers tingled with a warm sensation, and when she stepped inside, it surrounded her like a protective blanket. The scent of fresh breads and pastries, as well as the spices and sugars that accentuated them, caused a heavy calm to fall upon her, and from that moment she just had a feeling that things would be okay… It’ll be okay.
