Im being induced tomorrow... and was wondering if anyone else has been induced?
One of my friends is saying to just let the baby come in his own time, since there are risks to being indiced... im trying to tell her that in my current state (mucus plug gone for 3 weeks, minor contraction, GBS carrier, baby getting HUGE, and leaking amniotic fluid at random times) its whats needed to keep me and the baby healthy.

What are your stories of being induced? I know there are some bad things that can happen, but i want to show her that there can be a good side. I didnt opt for the induction, the doc said it needs to be done.

I was induced and the drip was slow.
It took about six hours before anything started to happen, but then it kicked in really good.

Please DO NOT get induced if you have had an ceasearn before. I don't think you have, but that is something I wanted to point out. It's not a good idea unless it's an emergency.

Also be aware that a lot of physcians are going back to once a c section always a c section, so be aware of that. If you think you can push some more, try because they keep flipping on that one, and are now saying a vaginal birth after c section is probably a bad idea after all.

Good luck!!!

I've never had a c-section, this is my first baby.. and he doesnt want to be born! lol.
We talked about the c-sections in prenatal... and they dont look like fun. I would have to been knocked out completely... i hate people touching my back, and i hate needles. I'd rather be knocked out than have the epidural.

I have no horror stories about either of my c-sections. I had a really ok time both times. Don't worry if you need the epidural for one there is a drug that is based on the valium family that relaxes you and you won't notice the epirdural being done. It's quick and not in your system very long and believe me... I watch them inject it in to my IV, and the next thing I knew I was already laying down for the surgery and was like... "What happened?" It's a needed thing in my case too.

I had the option of continuing to push or getting a c section my first time and I finally opted for the c section. That was back when they were still allowing women to try vaginal after c section, so I was not told that if I had a c section I probably always have to have one. They really didn't have all the data back then. I wish I had kept trying, because 8 years later they were back on not allowing women to have a baby vaginally after a c section. This turned out to be a good thing because my uterus was so thin.

Are you going to have the painkillers? They give you an epidural for that anyway. Or are you going for the ones they give in the IV?

Once the inducer kicks in your contractions will get more and more painful and I am sure they told you there is a small window of time when you can get the painkillers.

HUGS!!!

Im trying for no painkillers... i really want the birth to be as natural as possible... the only kind im willing to take is Nitrous Oxide.

I was induced because I was a week late and had high blood pressure.

Personally with your current tally (Especially the leaking amniotic fluid) you should tell your friend to stop being such a hippy and to stuff it. ^_^

For inductions, generally contractions are harder, and stronger, (since they are controlled by the dial the nurse cranks up) but the duration of labor is longer (because they are artificial and your body takes some time to accept it). Mine lasted 36 hours including the two hours of pushing.

I wasn't allowed out of the bed because of the IV pole, it was my hospital's policy. Though there is no reason you can't take an IV pole with you.

They will probably break your bag of waters if it doesn't break on it's own which it's likely not to.

Overall just the length I think you need to be aware of. Further if you are confined to the bed, though you do not want it, you need to have your pain medication options in mind (do you want stadol, an epidural...what) because not walking around will totally aplify your pain and decrease your ability to manage it.

I think my hospital lets you walk around, at least I hope so.

36 hours? Holy crap. All the stories i heard, they were only in labor for max 16 hours. That must've been tough.

Hey there, I just had my baby on friday. This was my secod induction. The first was miserable , after about 48 hours of on and off potocien, and cremes and all that junk, they broke my water, my pain went for zero to a million in about five seconds and like nopen I was confined to bed so it was unbearable. Then I had to push for about two hours and have the episiodomy from hell, what the nurses called a vaginal c-section. This time however I came in at 7 am and baby was delievered at 4:38pm. She was in a great deal of distress so things had to go quick. But I had lost my mucus plug and was 2 cm and 50%. So maybe if you are a little further along it will help you. Over all I would say, especially if your going natural, prepare for a long and painful labor. You might get lucky, but it's better to tell yourself it may be a couple days so your ready. Induction is no picnic. But it's worth it when your facing complications. I don't really know that it's any riskier than natural lobor and in your state it's probably alot less risky. I wish you a quick and easy induction, remember to breath, and best of luck. It'll all be worth it when you see that little one.

I was induced with my son only because my water broke first, and my labour didn't start. I would recommend not being induced the way I was. I can't remember what it was called, but they inserted a vaginal device with something on it to encourage contractions, and let me tell you... they hurt. Like h*ll. Five minutes after they put it in, my contractions started at 2 minutes apart, and lasting one minute and 30 seconds each. Every time a new contraction came on, I almost cried. I couldn't breathe, and everything hurt. After 15 hours of that I broke down and had an epidural. Eventually after 27.5 hours of labour my son was born. Now don't go hard by what I say, thats just my experiance.

Living here in TN, they only let you go one week past your due date before they induce you...I was induced when I had my son...They put this little pill in me *can't remember the name of it sweatdrop * but anyway the first pill didn't work...you had to leave it in for an hour I think and then wait another hour before they could use another one...so that was two hours no moving...then they put the second pill in and after a half hour it worked only too well...they had to take it out cause the contractions were coming on wayyyy too strong...so, I asked the nurse if I could get up and walk around cause I couldn't stand being in the bed a minute longer...they told me no lmao...so they gave me painkillers to knock me out so I wouldn;t complain about being in the bed for another hour and a half...I had the epidural as well...made it all smooth sailing for me...all in all from the time they put the first pill in to the time I delivered was 12 hours I believe...only 20 mins of actual pushing...no incisions and minimal stitching afterwards...but I really didn't feel much of anything...I actually had to ask the nurses when I was having contractions lol...

lol im sorry but i gotta say theres nothing atural about natural child birth ...i was induced because after months of preterm labor and contractions my water finally broke and my labor stopped i was at 1 cm ...50% efface from month 7 on... i was like oh i can do this..till i got the strong contractions then i was clinging to my bed rail crying into the nurses microphone "please give me drugs!"...15 minutes later (which seemed like 2 hours ) i got an epidural and im petrified of needles..it hurt that bad ..all i can say is good luck
