The little wild dog that was Mahlahla'selo bounced along in the dirt ridden path, humming a tune joyously to himself. It was off tune (by human standards that is) but what did that matter to Mahla? Besides, there was probably no one to hear it besides himself anyways. His four small and grim covered paws trambled along, stirring up clouds of dust that always ended up on his coat. It had not rained for days and the little wild dog and mother earth alike was feeling the thirst, though at this very moment, that was not one of Mahla's concerns.
"Whooo!" Mahla hollared into the sky, seemingly on a self-induced high. That was quite normal for the small pup, however, and his very vibrant coat suggested his wild nature.

A cry met Kizaki's ears from over the ground, her green eyes shimmering as she sat up on the high boulder, her paws crossed gently at their joints. Her teal gloves seemed soft in the light that was coming with the moonlight, but then that was always the time that Kizaki was out at anymore.
It was rare that she was out this far away from her pack, but sometimes you just needed to run out and be alone.
"Well little one, what're you doing down there." Kizaki said in her gentle voice, her muzzle splitting in a smile as she licked it and stood up. Pups were rare to see anymore, especially one so alone as this, it made the adolescent wonder. ninja

Glancing upward, Mahla spotted the creature whose gentle voice that had seemed for a second to have flowed out of nowhere. It was another wild dog actually, the same as himself, although older by the looks of it. It looked like she was out alone too, just like him, though the pup somehow sensed that they were out for quite different reasons.
Craning his neck up to an unusually sharp angle and thereby forcing himself into a sitting posture, the pup tried to get a look at the intruder who had intruded his own little celebration. From this unnatural angle, the pup grinning to the stranger. "I'm having fun!" he called out, voice ringing out in the quietness that had settled the land.
Without waiting for a reply, Mahla began looking for some stepping stones that might help him ascend the platform on which the stranger stood. Impatiently, he scampered here and there, pawing at any potential rocks that might lend him a leg up.

A laugh escaped from Kizaki's muzzle and she reached down, grasping at the ruff on the back of his neck and pulling him up to the top of the rock. He was considerably smaller, but then she also remembered being that small once in her life, though it hadn't been that long ago.
"Having fun eh? Well what do you call fun? Kizaki's never heard a hum like that before. What's it called?" She was fairly amuzed by him, at the very least amuzed by how he seemed so playful and carefree, just as pups were supposed to be.
Yet what was he doing so alone out here? ninja

Mahla stayed still for just enough time to allow himself to be pulled up by the stranger; the pup may be wild, but he was smart enough to know that getting dropped would mean some pain at the very least if not broken bones. Though the minute he was securely above the rock ledge, he eagerly pulled himself up, clawing vigorously at the ground. "Thanks," he grinned sheepishly, smoothing back his fur with a touch of his small paws. "See, that's the trouble when you are small," the pup continued to ramble on, as if first meeting, and then getting hauled up a ledge by a complete stranger was the most natural thing in the world.
"Who's Kizaki?" Mahla looked around for a possible second stranger that he might have failed to notice before, and finding none, decided for now that this Kizaki was probably an imaginary friend of the stranger. "Kizaki should know," the pup begun after settling himself comfortably in front of the stranger, "that that's my special 'the world's gone crazy' tune. There's also 'the world's gone sad' tune too, but I don't hum that often".

"Kizaki is me." She said, saying the word 'me' for the first time in quite a while. Kizaki had picked up the talking in the third person from her father, though most others didn't know that, they simply saw her as an idiot that had never learned. "So 'the world's gone crazy'? That seems like a fitting name for such a world that we live in, eh?"
A green eye winked brightly and the dog wagged her golden, teal ringed tail brightly across the surface of the boulder as she licked the pups nose softly and smiled. It wasn't the mothering instinct that was kicking in, at least she didn't figure that it was, though Kizaki had never had a chance to have one of those.
"So what brings you out here all alone? Where are your parents?" ninja

Rather surprised was Mahla when he found out Kizaki had been there in front of him all along, but he recovered after a second. He'd meet plenty of peculierarities before, and the pup picked out this speaking habit of Kizaki's as one, though he was not quite sure why.
"It sure is, Kizaki," the pup nodded in a rare moment of seriousness. "Mahla thinks so too," the pup said, wondering if this peculierarity of Kizaki's was something he would like for himself, and after deciding that he didn't like it, shook his head and said, "I think so too."
The lick from Kizaki had Mahla quite excited, and he was quite energetic when he was excited, even more so than usual. A bigger grin appeared upon the pup's face as he thudded his tail vigorously against the rock beneath him before shooting up and trotting around Kizaki, twice nearly running into her. "Don't have any parents," Mahla said with all the happiness that was within him. What one never has, one never misses, yes? "I'm always out looking for fun!"

"So then... how do you eat?" Kizaki leaned her head to one side in confusion, not understanding what was going on with this pup but also intriegued by how little he cared about importance like that.
But a smile spread over her white muzzle and she licked his head to lay down his fur flat. "Always looking for fun are you? Have you ever gone for a swim then?" Her green eyes flashed pleasantly. She LOVED to swim, but then that was just her. She was a swimmer by life, a swimmer by heart. ninja

"Eat?" The pup squirmed under Kizaki's muzzle, not used to all the attention he was receiving, "Well, there usually a lot of bugs around." Being the small thing that he was, Mahla was really only capable of being the predator to those even smaller than him, and most of the time, that meant bugs. Bugs were very tasty, Mahla had decided early on, and they were especially fun playthings, all squirmy and agitated just before they were crunched into oblivion. Mahla nuzzled Kizaki in a flurry of movement, "Some times I eat those plant things, but they arn't very good, not when compared to bugs anyways." Those were Mahla's daily diets, those, and a million other things he would find in his paws. Mahla was not afraid to try new things, especially not when he's hungry.
"Swim?" Mahla had not gone swimming before, and seeing the light that just came into Kizaki's eyes, figured it was probably something fun. Ah, just what he was looking for all along. "Show me! Show me!" he clamored excitedly around his new found friend.

A deep frown worked over Kizaki's muzzle and she licked the end of the little pup's nose before standing up and picking him up in her soft muzzle. It wasn't her responsiblity to take care of him, but for some reason she felt like she had to do something.
"Well how about Kizaki takes you swimming right now, and on the way we'll get you a good large meal? Much, much better than bugs." Kizaki said happily, leaping off of the large boulder and landing on the ground without much of a problem at all.
Her long legs and stocky chest were perfect for leaping and swimming, so she'd have to make it her job to show Mahla what fun it was in the water. Swishing her striped tail in his direction in a manner of saying "follow me!", Kizaki trotted off a few feet and wagged her tail back and forth waiting for him to follow her. ninja
