A deep breath, taking in the early morning air. I'm home....I'm finally home... he thought, taking in the air from Pride Rock's promotary. It had been so long since he had been there, since cubhood if he could recall correctly. The den was still there, Pride Rock still remained strong in the Pride Lands, it being kept balanced as well. Though his heart ached for those he remembered; Ezeoha, Jahazra...and Trina. Trina, the cub he took to the elephant graveyard, putting her in danger. What was he thinking then? Was he trying to impress her or something? Or was it mere adventure? He was gonna apologize to her that day he disappeared from the Pride Lands. Mosi told him to, she said it was best. But instead he left...he left to find his father but what he found was another male, a female, and then their cubs. He smiled at the thought of it.

"I guess...it is my fault, huh?"

He whispered pulling his head back down, looking over the lands. He had spent enough time here, it seems that the members of teh pride were out now, probably hunting or something. No one was here, Ez, his mother, or Trina. Guess it was time to go back to the family, the leopard was probably wondering where he is and his siblings were probably waiting for him to play with. He smiled and headed down the path from the promotary.

He was hoping to see at least one familiar face.

Trina had grown into the body of a graceful young lioness, and even though she was still on the flirty side, she became more subtle. More feminine. More mature. More vulnerable. She hadn't made many other friends after he left. She didn't try to seduce other males. She was just spending time with her family and becoming more and more like her mother in a way. She had grown to be compassionate. Still she felt something was missing. Her gay and jolly voice was sometimes streaked with a sadness she could not tell the source of. She was looking for something she lost without being able to name it.

That day, as she wondered in the pridelands borders, the lioness reminisced about her childhood days, so carefree and well.... free. She was still free but she did not know what to do with her life. She did not want to find an agreeable mate and settle down like all of her friends did.

She wanted...

She wanted to see him.

He paused at the bottom of the pathway, he still remembered it. Actually, he still had the bump to prove it. This was where he tumbled down the pathway when he was cub and bumped into Trina. The male still remembered her chocolate colored pelt, even that smile she had. She was one of the ones he dreamed of most and one of the main reasons why he became an insomniac. However, those days were over. He was back and that was it.

It was then that he asked her if she wanted to go to the Elephant Graveyard with him, that was where he opened up to anyone, for the first time. He didn't even tell Kujack about himself....well, not all about himself. Trina was the only one to get that far, probably being a female she had the patience to listen to him.

He missed her....

He wanted to see her again.

Ger smiled and climbed the pathway again and sat down on the promotary. He was gonna wait for her to return, he wasn't going to look for her this time, no, this time he will wait for her to come to him. If what he felt was true, then she would come for him, in his heart, he knew she would.

Trina aimlessly wondered around the pridelands, not knowing what to do to make this dull day a bit better. Her feet seemed to take her somewhere but she did not know where. She did not care. Maybe some adventure would cross her path. Pridelands were boring. Pridelanders were even more boring.

The chocolate and honey colored female continued walking towards the promotary, for she now realized thats where her feet were taking her, and wondered if anyone was up there.

Her thoughts wandered off to him again. Ger. He disappeared without saying anything. Was he still alive? Was he happy? Did he manage to have a family? She did not know. Lately she was getting good at not caring either. First it was devastating. Then it got bearable. Now she was getting over the fact that the only lion she truly cared about abandoned her. Left her to rot in this heaven.

However, at the familiar scent, all the memories came back just like yesterday. The scent.... Could he be? Trina gasped and looked up the promotary, and trying to get over her shaking legs weakly asked "Who is there?"

The golden male took in a deep breath and then exhaled. Her scent was still the same, her voice was different that was for certain. His back remained to her but he could see her clearly through his mind's eye. She was old as he was, she must've gotten bigger like he did. His body wasn't as scranny as before. He had filled out his figure from constant hunts and vast runs, it was what he did to escape it all. But every time, his paws would bring him back here.

"Have you forgotten about me already?"

He asked, looking up to the sky, his favorite past time, his mane falling over his eyes. His maw slipped into a smile, a charming smile, and spoke again.

"It's nice to see you again, Trina."

Ger dropped his head and turned it slightly, turning his teal eyes back to her. She was still the same as before. Her body was the same color, much more luxurious than the time there was dust from the graveyard. Her body looked much more femine than before too. But what caught his attention most was her soulful eyes.

Ger just smiled that charming smile.

"And you're still as beautiful as I remember you."

Trina tried not to make her voice shook with anger. She was a passionate lion and it was hard for her to conceal her true feelings "No I never forget a deserter" She replied "What makes you think your worthless words will make me forgive you?"

"What brings you back here?" The femme replied, trying to make her voice flat and soulless. She was afraid she might hurt him. But he deserved it. He deserved it for putting her in so much suffering. Yes she did suffer, maybe unknowingly but she did. She was not the same because of this scaredy little cat.

She looked at him with her reddish brown eyes. He was not actually a little cat anymore. He had grown to be a handsome lion and he finally got the mane he was yearning for.

But his eyes, those turquoise eyes trina once fell for. It was scary how she knew that she would fall for them again and again. She did not need to forgive him for that.

"You know...somehow, I pictured our reunion a little more joyous one."

Ger sighed and flopped back, rolling up into a sitting position in front of the female. She had changed personalities though, her appearance was teh same, but she has defiantly changed. And from what he could collect, it was his fault.

"About that, I'm sorry, I sort of got lost out there. Ran into a few animals, getting rather stuck to one."

He said with a playful, apologetic smile, his paw rubbing the back of his head. Yeah like she would believe that. She isn't that dumb, but at least it is the truth. Ger thought as he put his paw down befor him, trying to lace them as his Dad did all the time. However, with Ger it was almost impossible to do it perfectly with his bulky body.

"Sorry, Trina, I didn't mean to be gone for so long. I guess I should have at least said good-bye and apologize for taking to you the Elephant Graveyard too. But-call me what you want, I deserve it. "
Quote:
"I am not going to call you anything Ger" she replied "Did you know that I waited for you? Yes. Everyday. I thought today he will come back. This is the day." She paused "But you never did. And now you are here. Right before me. And I really don't know what to do. I can't be like I was and act as I dont care. You have been gone for far too long for me to do that."

The lioness gazed upon his eyes ".. times have changed. But some things never change do they? I never found the opportunity to tell you how I felt after the day we went to the Elephant Graveyard. You were gone. I tried not to feel that way but some things cannot be helped"

"And now you are here" she repeated "And I want to tell you, but I fear you will leave again. I don't want to go through all that again. I don't want to pause my life while you live yours"

Quote:
"Again, I am sorry. Do you know how much it pained me that I was away? I could not sleep, I ran everyday, I hunted everyday, I slept near cold water so I would wake if I did sleep, I even resorted to hurting myself all because of you."

He replied, his smile faded, as a much more serious and concerned expression took over. He did all that, he ran to wiped his problems away. He hunted to focus on the hunt rather himself. He hurt himself to rid himself of the guilt. He became an insomniac to avoid his dreams. His dreams made him confused, lost, weak, and vulnerable. They were always with Trina, Ez, and/or Jahazara. Always. The promises he made to them, the smiles on their faces. They all went against what he had, he had a family with Kujack and Aysha. They needed him, the cubs needed him. No....he needed them. His heart was always in conflict with his past and present. Now his solution was to bring them together to end his own suffering.

"Trina...I love you, I'm not going anywhere anymore. The farthest I will ever go would be to the Elephant Graveyard. I'm tired of leaving my home, it time for me to stay here where I belong. Hate me if you want I would too. But I am here now."

He replied, taking a deep breath, pulling his head back, letting the air from his nose. He said it and he was not going to take it back.

Trina gasped. The time stood still for a moment and she felt as if she was in a dreams. She had not seen him for a long time and now he came back and was telling her he loved her. Then why did he leave her? She could have gone with him if he asked. Even if he wouldnt take her, she would know where he was. But there was not time for regrets, life was too precious for regrets. Trina never regretted loving Ger like she did. A love that started out as pity for the small cub and then proceeded to friendship and when he was away Trina realized she had given the lion a piece of herself she needed to survive. To survive she needed Ger.

"Ger..." she said "I wish I could tell you I love you but I cannot. Those three words do not have much meaning to me anymore. But I can tell you I have been burning with the same suffering, same longing, same passion since you went away. If you want to call it love, go ahead but it is more. Ger," she sighed "there is nothing in this world that I want more than giving myself to you, being with you caring for you. Being yours" Trina let out a bitter giggle "Doesn't sound like the cub you once knew does it?" She took a step towards him. Her anger gave way to her compassion. The lioness placed her head on his golden colored neck "Never leave me again...."

Ger blushed softly when she came to him, touched him, a soft smile formed on his maw. He wrapped a paw over her shoulders and pulled her close to him, purring. He was finally full again. When the two ventured together, he lost himself to her, and when he left, he lost a very important part of him behind, the part he desperately tried to escape from his dreams. Now he has it back, he has Trina back in his life. It did not matter if she didn't love him, if she did, or she didn't care, as long as she was there with him.

"No it doesn't."

He replied, giggling softly as well.

"I call it nothing, those words symbolize love, but it does not mean it. We have gone through our own struggles and in the end it brought up together again. We have chosen our paths, we have followed them, and now here we are, together."

Ger purred softly and nuzzled against her head. He had missed her a lot, her scent was refreshed in his memory. Oh that earthy, female scent, it remained the same. It was just...breath-taking for him. He had no words that could describe the female he held before him. She was all he wanted, the only one that deserved his passionate love, if not then no other.

"Now, how can I leave you alone, if you are always with me? Besides, wouldn't your brother kill me if I hurt you again?"

He chuckled softly, remembering the male named Kota, Trina's overly protective brother. Hopefully he wasn't around.
