This is the BOSS. To start off a discussion in here, I'm going to list a whole bunch of things I've noticed about Metal Gear Solid in general. These tidbits were found by watching the trailers and playing the games very recently. As a matter of fact, I beat Metal Gear Solid 2 again for the... I dunno, Fourth time yesterday. Think about these things and tell us what you believe:
The Parrot from MGS 2... It's very odd. It was Emma's before she died and Hal took it from its cage and you see it flying away after Solidus dies. Later on, I watched the newest Japanese trailer. Guess what lands on The End's shoulder when he's laying on the ground, supposedly dead? The Parrot!! It's very strange, but this Parrot seems to be a symbol of death.
The Boss' sneaking suit (If that's what it can be called) is all foily and shiny like an old astronauts' suit (Policenauts?). Those suits were based off of, believe it or not, Flash Gordon's. The Boss' movements make certain silver plates on her sleeves (At least those are the ones that can be seen clearly in the trailer) shine like actually chrome, and reflect things. I think this is a huge step in graphical development, and wonder if it is a prototype of Stealth, as you can see wires especially connected to different parts of the suit. Snake also has a suit like hers, but it seems darker - Like he's the darkness and she's the... Light-ness...?
In case no one knew, the part where the Colonel is freakin' out when you on Arsenal, there's things he says with actual reason behind it. 'Big Boss here. Eenter the base by following the tracks to the left.' is something said on the very pitiful Snake's Revenge game made by Ultra Games, not Konami. I like to believe Hideo Kojima threw that in there to mock Ultra Games for what they did without his approval. There is also a conversation (One of my favorite conversations) where the Colonel mimics something said in the first Metal Gear game. It is: '...Inflitrate... ...The Fortress... ...Outer Heaven... ...Destroy... ...The Final Weapon... ...Metal Gear!'
There is a bridge in the demo... The same one in the trailer. It is by far my favorite area in the whole thing. Fighting on the bridge is amazingly fun; A first-time experience for video gamers. You can cut the cords and make the bridge very unstable, making it all wobbly - A superb show of how game designers can manipulate physics in video games to almost real life standards. The best part, as I've said, is fighting in this area. The guards will come from the other side of this AT LEAST 40 foot long unsteady walk way... You have alot of options considering the amount of weapons you get in the demo. The first thing I tried was sniping with the M16. It was easy because the guards didn't have much room to move around in, so I tested their reactions to me shooting their limbs. When you shoot their right arm, their gun will fly from their spazing-out hand. The will immediately (After the recover from the shokc of getting shot in the arm, that is) draw out a slow firing pistol that doesn't do much damage, not to mention a very bad aim - Which is a nice improvement over MGS 2, where the guard wouldn't be able to shoot for a few seconds and then jumped right back to pumping you full of lead like nothing happened. When you shoot them in the leg, they get slow and limp around, of course. They can take quite alot of shots to every part of their body(Whether this is because the demo's difficulty is undetermable or otherwise, I don't know), including their chest. Three shots with the .45 ends their existence most of the time, and a cruel burst from the AKM or the M16 will do the job, but it's good to be up close. When you shoot them in the head, get this, they die. So it's best to shoot them in the head, which has become quite an easy task for me because I play too much MGS.
That was just a test of the guard's stamina, then I tested their will and intelligence - The results were, as always, surprisingly good. When they were crossing the bridge slowly and carefully to come and get me, I took aim with the M16 and sprayed a few rounds at their feet. They stopped with a ! above their heads and made sure there was no more firing for a good 7 or so seconds tops before continuing. I took aim at the thin ropes and snap one right next to a cautious guard. Again, a ! went up, and the bridge tilted just enough so that he lost balance and fell a very, very long fall to his demise. Score.
Something I haven't tried yet, but I'm sure will be extremely satisfying, will be a long range grenade toss. This isn't tricky to pull of at all, but grenades instantly Alert the enemy... So it's best to use these killing devices when Alert mode is active.
Alert mode! Has never been better. There are usually at least two guards within shouting distance that patrol an area. One will have a radio, the other will just try to look all cool and evil but will not have a radio. Therefore, after the radio man is gone, the other guy will be easy meat. But if that guy with the radio gets in a call, you're most likely going to face an army until you either escape or kill everyone. This proves to be equally as fun (If not more-so) than sneaking past everyone in your spiffy camoflauge... That is, if you're good at the combat part of Metal Gear Solid (Master it! Combat is your second bestest-friend in this game). So if your not good or do not find a nice hiding spot to wait until the men spread out to search for you so that you can pick them off one by one, your chances of survival zoom down to 25%.
GUNFIGHT SURVIVAL TACTICS:
Remember to roll! Rolling saves precious health and basically lets you 'jump' past bullets and avoid grenade blasts. It also knocks baddies down (A no-brainer if you played the previous). The roll in MGS 3, however, makes you go twice as far, twice as fast. It consumes your stamina some more than running does, but in the heat of battle, it is worth it.
Always have your back to a wall or tall object (Exception if the enemy can throw grenades over or around the object)! Gunfights in the jungle can have you easily surrounded. Know not only where the bullets are being fired from, but where the reinforcements are pouring in from too. There's never more than twelve guys for one Alert. Still, that is a considerable amount to the trigger-happy people who tend to run out of ammo missing shots, which is a no-no in this game unlike FPS games. Aim slowly; taking a few hits while you align the sights with someone's head does not matter because your health regenerates in MGS 3. Death will come to the person who is surrounded - The enemies will make a hodge-podge of explosions with grenades on your location if you give them the chance to corner you. A wall will immediately strike out a whole area you have to cover; two walls are nice, but some-what more dangerous as it will be harder to easy grenades that land in an awkward spot.
CQC (Close Quarters Combat) is an extremely fun addition to Metal Gear.

According to the MGS2 script in Document, the parrot is there at the end of the game because Otacon found Snake in the ocean, drove him back to the city, and the parrot flew away as they were driving off.

Eggnogstick! According to the MGS2 script in Document, the parrot is there at the end of the game because Otacon found Snake in the ocean, drove him back to the city, and the parrot flew away as they were driving off. Wait... After the Tanker or after he jumped in after Liquid Ocelot (hehe) in Ray? When Otacon got off the elevator in Shell 1 at the first floor, the parrot started saying 'HAL' and 'I miss you' and all that. And then Otacon had a spaz attack and the parrot flew off his arm... I just recently played the game and I think that's the point where he loses the parrot. ALSO! When you use the directional microphone at the part where you are sniping for Emma, you can listen to what she says behind the big pillars when she goes behind them (Some people already know this, but whatever). She encounters, at the second pillar thing, a soldier named Johnny who has diarrhea and does not want to get involved with a 'pretty lady' because he thinks that's the cause of his stomach problems - He just happens to be the guard in MGS one that watches the DARPHA Chief and Meryl, and then later on he watches Snake. In the MGS 3 TGS trailer (The most recent one) a soldier who is also named Johnny talks to Snake/Big Boss about his son, Johnny... I just find that funny and cool. Perhaps Johnny fights along side of you in MGS 3!

At the point where your snipe-guarding emma, you can also use the directional microphone and listen to snake mumbling some things...
Also when you're with Ames you can hear the Johny guy going to the toilet or something if you steer a little bit to the right from ocelot/solidus.
Also, did you notice the rubber duck in shell 2 core?

My fave thing to do in the game is upload various pictures of
[naked man chest] [dolph] [marine in kilt] [olga]
to Otacon. I just love how he and Snake interact.[/color]

Well, you can do some pretty funny stuff in the bathrooms, shooting Snake while he's wearing a box, directional-microphoning Emma and Snake and Johnny, kicking hostages...

Where can you shoot Snake while he's holding a box? You can easily kill snake (if you feel like it) as soon as you get the sword. (stab-block stab-block etc.)

Where can you shoot Snake while he's holding a box? You can easily kill snake (if you feel like it) as soon as you get the sword. (stab-block stab-block etc.) If you hurry onto the strut toward where Pliskin is going to defuse the bombs right after the movie where Stillman explains how, you'll see a guy in a box running across the strut. If you shoot at him and call Pliskin, he'll complain about some idiot shooting at him and how he lost his favorite tool... then if you keep calling him, he'll tell you that cardboard boxes save lives and that "if you take care of your box, it'll take care of you." He alsy says to "treat it with love."
I wub Pliskin.
You can also shoot Pliskin while he's sleeping on the steps after getting attacked by Vamp. Call him on the Codec and he'll snore and occasionally shout, "LIQUID!"

Ah man, the box DOES return in number 3, though I didn't use it that much.
But Snake does talk about it to Sigint! He says getting in the box was part of his 'destiny'.

Sigint is like one of the 3 black people in the Metal Gear universe. He is the only one that didn't die, lol.
3 Snakes...
3 Black People...
Hehe, this sounds weird. Hope I didn't offend anyone.
