Under the shade of an acacia tree, Amaterasu sighed. She just couldn't get to sleep tonight... Her mind wandered through her memories as her eyes stared blankly ahead into the moonlight. Her eyelids were droopy, but not heavy enough to shut. No matter how desperately she tried, she couldn't sleep! She got up with a little effort, and decided that maybe moving to a different area would tire her out, or put her mind at ease. She walked out into the moonlight and turned her silver eyes skyward, desperately wondering why anyone ever had to be alone. She laid down in the moonlight and gave up on trying to sleep, but decided she could at least rest her body.

Usu was returning from a pack lands in the north, meeting a friend. He was actually late, he should have returned home long before sunset, but now the moon was up. He just hoped his mate wasn't up pacing around the den worrying about him. He had to assure her that he would be alright. His paws alteranted under him when a scent wafted under his nose.
A scent. Female.....nearby.
Usu's blue eyes looked around. Unable to spot the female, he closed his eyes and focused.
The sounds of the grass swaying in the wind. The water ripping with the breeze. The billions of foot steps of ants on teh ground, hurrying back to the anthills, the heavy stomps of the larger nocturnal hunters. His mind was clear, opened. He focused harder to locate the female.
...there!
Usu opened his eyes and casually headed in the direction of the female. Being one of abilities as his came in handy...that is if he had better control of them that is.

Amaterasu's ears twitched when she heard a noise. She was quick to jump to her feet, and was prepared for anything... She only hoped it wasn't a larger hunter than she. Amaterasu doubted it though, hyenas were typically clumsy, and overly pungent, whereas whatever this was didn't laugh in the darkness. A slight breeze ruffled her white fur as she slowly turned about the point on which she had been laying moments before, and she caught sight of the grey male approaching casually. She was relieved to see it was another wolf, rather than a much more dangerous creature. She didn't make a move, but waited for the male to approach her. "He can't be too dangerous," she muttered to herself for reassurance. "Harmful males don't just saunter about... they charge." She calmed herself down from the startle he had given her, and was relieved to have another of her kind in her midst.

He approached closer to the female, his tail swinging a bit. He could feel her distaunt feeling, she was tired it was obvious. Usu smiled and sat down nearby.
"Hello there, stranger. You seem tired, why stay awake?"
He asked, trying to be polite as he could. He showed no signs to harm her, he had no intention to at all. She was just a female, probably alone. He had his mate and many friends with their families. He wasn't about to betray his mate.
"Name's Usufii'moyo, Usu if you please."
He introduced himself, bowing his head down slightly and raised it up again.

"Hello Usu." Amaterasu said, sitting down and then bowing her head a bit as the male had done. "My name is Amaterasu, and yes, I'm rather tired. My mind's just restless..." her voice trailed off. "I'm new to these parts, and am just passing through. I'm certain you know how tiring it is to travel through unknown lands." She could tell by his scars he probably knew as much about being on your own as she did. Her fears had vanished and she quickly came to trust the grey male.

He was alone once, for a long time too. For most of his life he had been alone, no one to teach him to hunt, no one to provide for him...he managed though. These scars on his face, they were of his own fault, it was his own, no others.
"Amaterasu, it's a nice name. You should find shelter to rest, not out here in the opened."
He suggested, turning to the nearby Acacia tree, the same she was at before. That would suffice.
"Being new to an area is difficult. But this place is the safest place you can be. The only dangers are the nocturnal predators. Over there, that tree can give us shelter for the night."

She nodded in silent but complete agreement. "Thank you," she said quietly to his compliment. She rose to her feet and began on her way back to the tree's base. In many ways, she was still a pup. Having someone to follow was something she had longed for ever since she left her family. "I don't know what I was thinking when I left home," she confided to Usu, "but I'm sure I'll find something soon that will make it all worth it."

Usu came beside her, laying down nearby.
"Hopefully, there is something out there that would make everything worth it. You are just going through some struggles to get there, that's all."
He said. That is what he went through. His life was purely struggles that he had to live through and overcome. The Bull Hunt, the years of loneliness, first love rejection, trials, betrayals...but it was all worth it to see pups grow and have a mate of his own. Overcoming struggles to reveal teh bright ending of it.
"I can spend some time with you, long enough for you to sleep. But I will have to leave shortly after."
He said. He was gonna stay with her for a while, long enough for her to fall alseep. Then he would head home.

"I understand completely," she said, realizing he probably had a family of his own he had to get back to. She chuckled, then said, "I probably sound like such a softy to you..." she shook her head and yawned. "Oh well..." Amaterasu said as she set her head on her paws. Maybe talking to him had helped to put her mind at ease, because her eyes were a lot heavier than they were before. "I really appreciate this," she said to him. It was important to her that she said it before sleep grabbed her, just an old habit her mother had set in her mind. She wondered if she would ever see him again... She kept her eyes open long enough to see if he would respond to anything she had said.

Usu didn't need to say anything to her now. She knew the answers herself, she didn't need him to repeat them for her. He smiled softly and placed a paw over her back, laying his head onto it afterwards. At least he can rest a bit before heading home.
"Rest, Amaterasu, get some sleep."
He whispered, keeping his mind clear to keep his powers under control and prepared for anything. While she slept, he was gonna keep watch over her and everything around her. She was a female that was just like him, she was bound to encounter the perfect one sooner or later. It was just a matter of time. Usu was able to, she must be as well. Destiny had no hand in his fate, it was his own.
Usu waited for her to sleep before he headed home. Tajwar was probably worried sick about him. He'd have to apologize.

Her eyes could no longer resist sleep, and they sucumbed to it quickly. Soon her head was blank, and her body relaxed. Usu had given her a comfort that she hadn't felt in ages, and he couldn't have come at a better time.
