I know... most people hear the name and cringe, right? Everyone saw War of the Worlds and decided to hate her. I know this sounds like something that doesn't belong in this forum, but read on.
Upon the start of filming, the director pulled dakota to the side. He said you will be playing Tom Cruise's daughter, so it will seem only right if you act like him. She looks at him and asks... Do you want me to act like Tom Cruise in real life, or Tom Cruise in the movie? She's told to act like Tom Cruise in real life. <-fact
So we learn 2 things... Dakota Fanning's a pretty good little actress, and Tom Cruise is really freaking annoying.
Tom Cruise found out about this later in filming and got really mad at her, causing tension during the rest of the shooting.
And if you want further proof of Dakota being a good actress, just watch the last few episodes of Taken. She's actually quite adorable, though a little creepy.

I saw her in "Man On Fire" and I thought she was a good actress, though she still was a bit annoying in that movie.
In War of the Worlds she was extremely annoying, literally I dont know anyone who doesnt want to punch her lights out. rofl and she didnt EXACTLY act like Tom Cruise, she was annoying alright but in a different way, Tom is annoying in that "omg your such a freakin' idiot, what are you doing jumping around on the couch". way razz

Wasn't she supposed to be in this film where she gets raped? and is naked but she's like 10?

I think Dakota Fanning is an amazing actress, especially for her age! I've seen the Taken series and that was where I first saw her. I really liked the movie and her acting was good. I also saw War of the Worlds and I really don't have any idea why you all think she was annoying... I'll have to watch it again sometime...

Dakota Fanning is a fanominal actress for someone of her age.
& honestly...if you were like eight years old and aliens were destroying your life and world you live in...you might be just a little annoying too. she shouldnt be critized for that >.<
