Looks like the elections might have been rigged after all. The sad thing is people knew about this at least 7 years ago. And last year or two years ago at def-con they had someone give an announced speech about the vulnerabilities, and yet no one was concerned about it.

it is possible as the article says for it to have been rigged but it also says the problem was corrected when a hand count was done so the result was correct in the end

I listened to the video. Was this really made before the machines were put into use? If so, someone really messed up and now I am mad at them.

I actually recall thinking that Al Gore should have won the US elections even when I didn't know anything about politics when I thought this. My theory is that if a child who knows nothing can be convinced by the media that Al Gore's the right guy for presidency then a lot of Americans who really don't care about politics probably could have been as well. Chances are that it was rigged in favour of Bush because the Republicans knew he wasn't a popular candidate.
But I say this as a foreigner. I really don't know.

I remember being an Al Gore supporter at age eight myself.
It was something inside of me that kept on saying something about something bad happening if Bush was elected.... And then 9/11 happened.

Well the election wasnt so much "rigged" as it was that the government elected him into presidency and not the people, which by the way Bush is the first president ever to be elected by other government officials... he was elected because the republicans held the majority of seats.

Stronghearted11 how else could a dosch-bag like bush get into office! (we are not including lying to the ppl) Eh, it would have been a bad move to change presidents right in the middle of the whole "War in Iraq" deal. Kind of like changing plans right in the middle of carrying them out. I think that's the only real reason he was re-elected. No worries, he'll be gone soon enough.
And I wouldn't say the election was rigged. More like the government found a loophole in the system to control the elections. Stuff like that. ninja

El Yo out of curiosity did ne one in here even read the article? Yah after reading the posts I should elaborate. I'm asking if the thing was rigged in the first place. Not so much about if we elected the president fairly.

No the election was not rigged, it was done 'unfairly' or was won by means that the average american and some of the more intellectual Americans did not know was possible.

I found that movie when it was just released. Leave it to people to try to tamper with something that is supposed to be fair and accurate. I'm glad that the Princeton students did a project about it to make the public aware of this.
As for the election being rigged, you can't be entirely sure whether they were or not considering the program doesn't leave any tracks. It is possible, though.

BULL! s**t! they had enough info to know that that was gonna happen, and they did nothing about it. it's just not in the media b/c all the radio and tv stations are owned by big corps. who support bush b/c he gives them tax cuts! hence why they do their best to make him look good. AM 1600 americans! try listening to that for a while. it's not filtered by these big corps, so you get real news, not crap (the daily show and the colbert report too, i know it's on comedy central, but what you get in that one hr is more then you'll ever get on the news these days)
