The cycle of years turns by the grace of the Monarch of Efficacious Prayers. Setesh is the keepr of the Calendar of the Dead - a gigantic construct of turning spires, brass tracks carrying variously sized spheres of ruby, crystal quartz, onyx and soulfire gems and silver lamps burning the offerings of thousands of worshipers. The delicately balanced gears and geocentric bearings are lubricated with the iridescent black oil of the Kraken and powered by the focused prayers of the dead. The massive Calendar wraps around the top third of the tallest tower of the Monarch's mausoleum - glittering in the pallid light of the Underworld - and time is measured in the rise and fall of its crystal spheres.
Before the Calendar, no time passed in the Underworld, and there have been a few times when the Calendar has been abandoned, and time ... stopped. The sun halted in the Underworld's sky, unmoving. When Setesh was reinstated, the Calendar was repaired, and the sun stirred again.
Setesh is capable of speeding, slowing or stopping the Calendar - which would halt the procession of years, the change of seasons, even the passages of day and night. He can also read the Calendar, predicting the future and reaching into the past.

This is not something I made up. This was a brief entry in a book from the White-Wolf game called "Exalted." The exact book was the one regarding the Abyssal Exalted.
