i am having a birthday but it's not exactly happy.
so what do birthdays mean to you?
when i was little, they were fun.
one time we got to romp around an old farm and ride a pony
one time we went on a big boat all day
but now they suck, it's just me and 3 friends (all my old friends live too far away to come) and my folks, and my greedy diabetic mom ate up almost all my icecream singlehandedly!

hrm.... b-days to me mean another long year of boredom, ageing, hair not growing fast enough(its up to my shoudlers but i want it longer), school, growing 1 or 2 inches a year( 'bout 5ft tall right now), brain overloading from too much homework, family members asking constinly if i have a boyfriend when i don't, drawing skill becomeing better, and more anime guys i get crushes on. so.... there are some good things and some bad.

After a certain age, I think it was at the beginning of high school or maybe my middle school years I merely saw my birthday as one year closer to a lonely, miserable, impending death.... yeah I'm not too happy about birthdays.
I really don't see a big deal, just means one more day/year closer to your death in my point of view talk2hand nothing that much worth celebrating... should be dreaded and feared more than celebrated. As my English teacher, who is a senior citizen said when someone asked how was his birthday,
"Well I'd say it was pretty good. Started off the day by reading the newspaper and didn't see my name in the obituary so it was pretty good."
But that's just me. I can understand why it's a good thing to celebrate within the first few years of you life cause heck you survived, however after a certain point is it such a momentous occasion that you've lived another year? *shrugs*

Anymore I dont have really big parties or anything, not even for friends. My family does somethign small for me, no party, but still. Doing something special or getting a present from my friends is good enough for me. as long as i have a good time and i know people care enough to remember, a gift a somewhat bonus.

this week i am going to a birthday party for my best friend's little boy.
it's odd to not be the same generation as the birthday kids any more, but i like it.
