Silence spanned the den, the moon hanging high overhead in the twilight hours. Without warning a pair of sunkissed eyes opened to gleam in the dark, and the mother of the family was awake. It didn't happen often, but sometimes her seer-powers influenced her sleep-dreams, causing her to wake up with a vivid sense or urge for something.
A small bundle of warmth rested at her side, a much larger one on the other, thick fur brushing against her neck. One of their cubs was the smaller bundle while Juhudi, her mate, made the other. Looking over the figure of her mate brought a smirk to the female's face, suddenly feeling playful and flirtatious. She couldn't flirt very well while he was asleep though.
She carefully detangled, rising to her paws and taking her tongue and teeth to Juhudi's right ear, which was all but buried under the red locks of his mane. With a little tug she urged the young adult to leave the realm of sleep. Mommy wanted to play.

His breathing soft and rythmic, eyes closed heavily, the young lion slept peacefully with his family, one paw wrapped around a sleeping cub, his head resting against his mate. Subconsciously he was aware of the movement at his side, the warmth that had shifted, his ear flicking at Mosi's touch, a faint purr and a small smile on his maw in response, perhaps a sign that she had shifted his dream. The tug on his ear roused him from his slumber. His dream broken, his head shifted groggily, pale eyes barely opened to see the dark form hovering over him.

Mosi purred, moving to walk past him carefully, minding the cubs. As she passed him by her tail brushed his shoulder, tail tuft sweeping playfully under his chin before the dark female found the den's main exit.
Once outside she smiled a bit and moved to slip around the tree, away from the entrance, watching for Juhudi to follow over her shoulder.

Eyelids fell heavy, and thinking that it must have all been a dream, the lion's head flopped back onto his paws, shifting slightly to make himself more comfortable before falling back asleep. But something broke into his mind telling him it hadn't been a dream, perhaps it was the tufted tail that tickled his soft fur; and finally his eyes opened to see the dark lioness slip from the entrance. What it her that had woken him? He yawned, scratching behind his ear with one large forepaw as if to bat the sleep away. Taking a moment, he looked over his sleeping children, a soft smile on his maw before standing and carefully prying himself free of them so as not to wake them, pausing to cover them with a few leaves of the bedding to keep them warm. Freed of the sleeping cubs, he yawned once more, stretching lightly before following his mate through the entrance and into the night air. "Mosi?"

Mosi just smiled and led him along as he followed her out, keeping the tree always in view and the cubs in hearing range, but not stopping until she had put several yards between the sleeping children and themselves. Only then did she turn to face Juhudi again, and waited for him to reach her.

Still held by the last grips of sleep, the lion's forelegs extended in a stretch, his hind legs following, finishing with a curl of his tail. Jaws parted by a broad yawn, he followed after his mate wondering why she had woken him and led him from the den in the middle of the night. When she finally stopped, he settled back on his haunches with another yawn, one paw raised to sleepily scratch behind his ear. "What's up?"

"I couldn't sleep," She responded casually, as if simply commenting on the weather, that this was a good enough reason to drag him out of his own blissful slumber.
However, she did elaborate a bit. She had good intentions in waking him up, leading him out here. It might've been a bit silly and random, but she'd suddenly found herself missing their alone time. He'd come into her life unexpectedly, too sudden for her to predict it, and then it seemed like everything was happening so fast after that.
The dark pelted female moved to settle down in front of him, leaning in to put her head against his shoulder and take a deep breath, purring softly.
"and it's been a few weeks since we had any time alone to ourselves like this. I'm starting to miss being able to be selfish with you." She grinned, eyes twinkling with the gentle tease. "I hope you're not upset with me for wakin' you up."

As if he could ever be angry at her, sound asleep though he may have been. And it was true, it had been some time since it was just the two of them. He could not have asked for a happier life or a deeper love. He had found what he had been so missing, the other part of himself, and together had created a family, two children of their own. But like his mate, there were times when he longed for the times they spent alone. A soft smile on his maw, Juhudi nuzzled against the dark lioness, a gentle purr in his throat as her fur brushed against his. It was a beautiful night, the stars shining down brightly even through the moonlight. "You know I could never be upset with you, and it is a beautiful night to share."

Her paws settled, one leg and shoulder between his front paws, the other brushing his own as she closed the small gap between. A slow smile full of impish affection and delight eased onto her muzzle as Juhudi responded with such kind words of immunity. She teased him a little and picked at the thick fur of his mane with grooming precision.
"Better be careful big fella', I might decide to take advantage of that sometime."
Which, of course, would never be done maliciously, only if it could bring about a bit of good natured fun. Mosi was a little reckless still and out there, but not an actual trouble maker.

Dark ears flicked, his tail curling around his mate, brushing against her own tufted tail. He knew she was teasing and he didn't mind it, perhaps even enjoyed it. His own smirk tugged on his maw, after all he could tease too. "Oh really, then I'll just have to keep my eye on you won't I." Without the warning of even a mischievous look, though certainly he must have thought it, the lion's tongue flicked from his mouth, playfully licking her nose.

His breath warm on her face, Mosi actually giggled, a rare moment when she actually sounded girlish. Though that part of her did very much exist, she was still at the akward in between point of discovering her feminine strongpoints and clinging to her tomboyish tendencies. She was still just a girl, yet to become a woman, even after taking a mate, giving birth to two cubs.
"You'll be lucky if that's enough to stop me." She smirked then, rising onto her haunches and firmly planting both forepaws against his chest, licking the side of his muzzle in return.
It was then that a heavy look crossed her features, particularly her eyes, a familiar gaze that had gotten them into quite some "trouble" in the past. Mosi lowered her voice to speak just above a secretive whisper.
"Do you know what I've missed doing the most since the cubs came along...?"
A pause... giving Juhudi a chance for it to register.
And then, she whispered--
"Owning your sorry hide in our games!!"
And with a carefree grin she grabbed and tugged his ear ("Tag!!") and laugh, she pivoted to drop, bounding off into the shadows of the grasses for him to give chase.

For a moment the lion fell still, pale eyes blinking, his breath caught in his throat. He felt his heart skip a beat as his eyes fell on the form before him, tracing the lines under her dark fur before settling on those bright orange eyes, and he couldn't help but fall in love with her all over again. Unconsciously he held his breath, silently awaiting her answer. But wait, it had been a trick? Why that sneaky--really he should have seen that coming. He knew that look all too well, knew his mate's mischievous, but she knew exactly how to get him, and he had fallen for it as always. "Hey! That's not fair!" And he was on his paws, springing after her, wind streaming through his mane with his momentum. He was larger, perhaps slower, but his strides were long, and he was determined to catch her. "I am so gonna get you!" But his tone was teasing, playful, followed by a bright laugher than fell from his jaws and echoed in his wake.

Another heartfelt laugh echoed across the grasslands as his answer, and no way on Earth did she give up that easy. Mosi wasn't moving at an all out run, her stride was slower and had more playful, longer leaps and bounds in it, more interested in expending the build up of energy and enjoying a drawn out chase with her mate. Oh it felt good to run again, to feel the cool night air on their skin beneath their fur, whistling over their sleek figures as the moon cast an elusive amount of light.
"You are SO not!" She teased.

"Oh yeah? We'll see about that!" Just running straight after her wasn't going to get him any closer, not when she was so much lighter than him. So it was his turn to be sneaky, after all it was only fair. With a broad jump, he turned, turning sharply to the side, circling in an attempt to cut her off. There was a spring in his step as he chased after her, tail streaming behind him, paws reaching, rustling the grass with each stride. What a beautiful night it was to be alive, and an even better night for some harmless play.

She might've expected as such, but it didn't stop her. Instead, as he did move to cut her off, Mosi smoothly switched from a run to a pounce, paws reaching out to catch her mate in a short-notice tackle, with a prematurely triumphant "HAH!" as the only other warning.
