It's not a rumour now, folks. It seems that a "new" company, by the name of Panovation studios. They have a licesne to produce Sonic games, but only in their old company name of "The Blue Hedgehog Network". Might this spark some conflicts? I honestly don't know. But. They are relaeasing the links for Pannovation soon. To read their index page, click here. And, BONUS HERE FOLKS!Quote: On a side note: I have noticed that people are saying how this game will revolve over the Saturday morning Sonic the Hedgehog game just because I have mentioned a few key-terms. This is not necessarily true, in fact the story is very deep and that is all I can comment on the story for now. Thank good god.

Why does the fandom insist on using a genre which uses speed as it's primary selling point, and put it into the slowest form of game.

An online Sonic game?
I never thought such a thing was possible.
How would that work anyway?
I cant really see multiplayer on this one, unless you can make your own freedom fighter or SWATBOT character. That would be totally awsome.
Maybe it could work if they know what there doing.

The thing is though, you don't know if its going to be speed based or turnbased. Not until we get some info, that is. I mean, there are different forms of RPG's, right? Like Card based, turn based, etc..
This could be a new thing, like completing levels gains your level or something. *long shot from there, just a big guess*
But you never know...could be, couldn't be. But still, why the hell is Sega not publishing it?

Samwise Chubb Why does the fandom insist on using a genre which uses speed as it's primary selling point, and put it into the slowest form of game. You would think so, but after reading the entire interview it seems to me like it's one of those games that could be entirely original but instead puts itself in a Sonic universe. Sort of like what Super Mario 2 is or what Popful Mail could have been, except this is meant to be Sonic from the beginning. I have to admit I'm both skeptical and a bit excited. I like that the story is going to be SatAM influenced. Though I question the production quality of a game that is supposed to be 100% free, I am looking forward to it's possible release. At least it'll be made by fans (or so they say). I wouldn't be surprised at all if this was bogus though, we'll see I guess.

Might be interesting, but I still dislike online-only games as a matter of principle, lacking much of a connection myself. (Sighs)

I'm more concerned with the mechanics, and whether or not, like so much marketing for Diablo, it'll confuse "RPG" with "sidescrolling hack/beat/collect-'em-up".
Which is, frankly, the only way I can see the franchise's speed translating to ORPG format.

Somehow I always imagined a Soinc RPG would be very like if not exactly the same as PSO. I found the mechanics in that game kickass, and if its anything like that, it has my vote.

Sounds suspect.
Won't hold my breath till I hear from an official source (ie. Sega). Can't see why they'd relinquish control of their mascot even temporarily, and SatAM basis narrows the potential fan base for any online game. Surely the developers would want to appeal to the Japanese audience as well? What's SatAM got to do with Sonic as far as they're concerned.
This is utter nonsense. No official Sonic game after the Megadrive era will be set in the SatAM universe or even use SatAM characters. This sounds exactly like some rumour dreamt up by SatAM fanatics who can't get over the fact that they'll never have a Sonic game set in the SatAM universe.

It's easy to be blunt when I consider this; Sonic Adventure 2 should've killed off the last desperate hopes that any StC, SatAM, or Archie fansboys and fangirls had that their favourite Sonic universes could somehow coincide with the universe in the games. It made Kintobor irrelevant and it made Mobius irrelevant... It did all this... FOUR YEARS AGO. I'm just getting tired of the fact that there are still people out there clinging to outdated concepts that are no longer relevant to the games and never really were when you think about it. :/

Well. It's been officially denied by Sega. So it appears the thing is a fangame.
And a rather dangerous one, at that. Causing hype like this and stirring up trouble will only cause Sega to slam down on fangames, which were pretty much unrestricted before.
The only thing I see coming of this, is alot of problems for the fandom.

I have to admit I really didn't think about it that much. I read the interview, thought "maybe", posted then went back to worrying and doing the things I usually do and worry about. I'm not really as schooled in the ways of Sonic to be able to piece it together like that, and there's the fact that while I'm an SatAM an Archie fan I've never actually looked forward to or ever wanted a SatAM/Archie game. Personal defense aside, I can still see it being what it says it might be if it is indeed going to be an 'official'/approved/whatever Sonic game being made by other people. I'm sure there's several ways you can prove how bogus this all is, but it's beyond me. Edit: Samwise Chubb Well. It's been officially denied by Sega. So it appears the thing is a fangame.
