I think hermaphodites are people who were born with both genders expressed, so they have both male and female parts. How it happens, well you got me there.

In zoology and botany, a hermaphrodite is an organism that possesses both male and female sex organs during its life. In many species, hermaphroditism is a common part of the life-cycle, particularly in some asexual animals and some plants. Generally, hermaphroditism occurs in the invertebrates, although it occurs in a fair number of fish, and to a lesser degree in other vertebrates. Typically, in hermaphrodites belonging to a species in which hermaphroditism is not the norm (humans, for example), reproduction is not possible, but there are some instances in which sperm or ova are capable of conceiving offspring. On very rare occasions, such a hermaphrodite can even impregnate itself, but this will result in complications, such as the offspring having identical DNA to its parent. See Simultaneous Hermaphrodites below.
The term "hermaphrodite" has historically been used to describe people with ambiguous genitalia or biological sex. The broader term intersex is often used and is preferred by many such individuals and medical professionals.However, some of these people do not like the connotations and misunderstanding of the word "intersexed" and thus prefer to use hermaphrodite instead. The term is still used by the pornography industry, though often as a synonym for transsexual, as true human intersexuals are rare.

I watched something on TLC about this. Like this one person was half whit/half black but instead of the nationalities mixing there was a line down the center of their body splitting them in half. On one side they were male, on the other female. Its really cool, but it makes you feel sad for the person with the disorder...

Spirit_of_Yarn I watched something on TLC about this. Like this one person was half whit/half black but instead of the nationalities mixing there was a line down the center of their body splitting them in half. On one side they were male, on the other female. Its really cool, but it makes you feel sad for the person with the disorder... wow.. that would be kind of weird xD lol, you could like sit behind a wall and only put half your body out and act like a girl or a high, you would probably give someone a heart attack if you like did that and jumped out and was a girl/guy on the otherside.

Hermaphrodite = Someone who owns both Male and Female sexual organs, AND can fertilize themselves.
( Although, I'm still not sure if the fertilization occurs in humans, except Cartman's Mom. )
The only creature I can think of that can be hermaphroditic is the slug.

That would be weird. Half and half genitalia... actually, if you were BOTH at the same time, you could reproduce by yourself, which is kind of weird. It's really actually VERY weird.
Angelfish can change genders, so are they considered hermaphrodites? O_o
